A jest more than a comment. In fact, I often agree with you, but argument
seems to be more fashionable than agreement on this list at the moment, so
I keep a low profile.

Wouldn't work for me either; the colourful body would be much smaller.

Since when am I entitled to an opinion (and particularly one agreeing

I agree with Frank (no comments, please). This picture is all about
colour, and it hits you in the face with it. Very powerful. As for the
legs; flamingos have very long ones, and the body wouldn't dominate the
frame if the legs were included. The picture just wouldn't work.

Great shot.

I think it's a terrific photo!
I like the bend in the bird's neck; it's not quite your average,
stereotypical flamingo shot. Lovely colours, beautiful bokeh, and, what
makes it for me are the OOF pink birds in the background. They're
almost
abstract: the only way I know they're flamingoes is their colour (which
is
exactly the same as the subject). Lovely touch, that!!
I can't think of a way to improve it.
Thanks, frank. Several people have said the bokeh is horrible. I do
like
the other birds in the background. Do you think the missing legs
distract
from the image. Funny, it's all I see in it anymore!

Indifferent to me. Just looks like a bird - nothing to really grab

2004-05-17 Thread Shel Belinkoff
Hi ...

Well, the bokeh is quite harsh, the reason notwithstanding, and it fights
the great lines and shape of the flamingo. The colors are way too
saturated for my taste. Legs are nice to see in their entirety. There's a
pink wing tip intruding into the frame on the viewer's right. Big
distraction. Nothing that can't be fixed. Overall, it's not a bad start.

I think it would have benefited from a slightly different angle to
accentuate the curvature of the neck. I like it though and the timing is
really good. That's some wacky bokeh. You may want to create another layer
and blur it a bit.

Yeah the bokeh is weird. Behind the bird there was a wire fence with some
kind of vegetation growing on it. What you are seeing is the effect of that
fence. Thanks for the comment!
