Two things:

1. This was taken with a Pentax lens on an Olympus E-PL1. Penatx
bodies typically do less sharpening.
2. It looks better, but what is AB?

I zoomed in as far as I could on the petal untouched, and actually see a
ringing on the edge, as in an audio ringing but as an image. Very
interesting. I'm sending a copy to Steve.

Something I first learned about working in the high end audio game in the early
70's. It refers to comparing two items by switching back and forth between
each. Speakers, or any component in a audio chain from source onward, In this
case, having each of the two images of the tulip stacked on top of each other,
and switching back and forth. I probably should have written it as A:B to make
it more clear.

I think the detail looks pretty good. Maybe another nudge of sharpening.(?)
I would certainly try either removing or greatly softening that stem (?) coming
out of the larger blossom. I might, also, remove the far left OOF blossom. If
you have any more frame on the left, suggest including the tip of the petal
touching the frame edge.

The funny part is that we were all just commenting on the vivid reds
of Kodachrome and here I am with this shot. I did find that a levels
adjustment worked, but I may want a contradiction, i.e., vivid reds
and details. I probably should try this with a different lens just to
see. It's just nice to use this lens again since it's the first
interchangeable camera lens I ever had (1974).

I know this may not be practical but, technically, this is said to be

Reds are hard. I do notice that each petal of the tulip has a green line around
it's edge adjacent to the OOF background. Could this be from over - something
(sharpening?)?

I have no suggestion on how to correct the red detail. Personally, on my iMac
monitor, it looks better than most I've seen. Were it mine, I would consider it
a success.
