I'd hope so, given that the 550 has been discontinued for a while now. :) The 555 is pretty similar, though. chris

Milford photo, (in milford Connecticut), used to only carry the low end in pentax ZX-M, ZX-60 etc. Since the introduction of the *ist-d they started carrying them. They seem to be selling a fair number of them as well. Mark Dalal wrote: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] One of the stores in San Antonio will no longer be carrying anything by Pentax. I'm going there tommorow and I'll see if that's changed. Boyd's A/V has a minimal stock...of everything. But, they do carry new Pentax PS cameras and the low end of the SLR range (ZX-60, FA28-80, FA80-200). They're like that with every brand though. Mark

Ft. Worth is about 5 hours or so from San Antonio. That's quite a visit. The owner (?) talked lovingly of LXen, appreciated the 77 Limited, and showed off some M42 equipment he just obtained... If only I could remember the name, Cesar Panama City, Florida

I actually thought Boyd's was the one giving up on Pentax entirely. Back when I bought my Optio 550 (last summer), I went by there (Boyd's) and showed it off, by way of complaining about the fact that they didn't carry it. The guy I spoke with -- don't know him and he wasn't Boyd -- didn't seem to give a dam. But I have SOME good news, and it's not that I saved on my car insurance by switching to Geico. I know that Camera Exchange had the MZ-S on display for a good while. Wonder if anyone ever bought one. If no one did, I suppose that could have helped to discourage them. Glad I found out where to shop in Austin. ERN

RE: The Local Pentax SLR Conundrum
That is what I am seeing, they are selling well. My local store, unbeknownst to me has sold 6 *ist Ds, and at least 6 Optio Ss, along with just about every other Pentax ps, and apparently not doing too shabby with the SLRs. I have not looked lately, but they may still have an MZ-S, Cesar Panama City, Florida -Original Message- From: Collin Brendemuehl [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 8:56 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: The Local Pentax SLR Conundrum Cord tells me that the reason they're not stocking the istD (or any other Pentax SLR) is because Pentax is not able to deliver the quantities they need for building volume sales and the large customer base that a retailer needs to establish a product line.
