Nope, I've got one as well (A C3). Lovely camera. Bit of a brick though.
Still prefer the 6x7 except for that almighty thump from the shutter.

2002-01-10 Thread J. C. O'Connell

I've got two Mamiya C33s and a complete set of 7 lenses.
Not sure if I'm going to sell them even though I just bought
a P67 and 5 lenses. REASON? Leaf shutters! It makes daylight
fill flash possible which the P67 cant do! I have the regular
180mm for the TLR and its a dandy. If the super's even better it
must really be one fine lens. BTW, The C33s are really heavy but
no worse than a P67. Not bad if you buy the grip for it.

So I'm wondering, all you LX smirkers out there,
if you had to replace your LX with ONE, ONLY ONE, other
Pentax that existed prior, to, say, 1990, what would it
 be?

An MX, undoubtedly!

This one is easy:

Black K2. It's got almost all the same features of the LX, and the
same great feel.

Re: What cameras OTHER than the LX rate at least a half wink?

2001-12-23 Thread Paul Stenquist

Interestingly enough, while 67 prices have been quite reasonable of
late, some other cameras have been bringing good dollar. To finance some
6x7 purchases, I sold my Mamiya TLR equipment. (I've had some of it for
25 years, and it broke my heart to sell it. But I can't afford to keep
everything.) I got $265 for a C220 body and old style 80mm lens and $295
for a late model 250/6.3. I bought the 250 at BH three or four years
ago for $300. (It really hurt to sell that lens. It's a very good piece
of glass with a leaf shutter. But I can't afford to keep everything.)
With the money I received for the TLR equipment, I was able to buy an
MLU 6x7 that I would describe as a nice user, a KEH excellent 150/2.8, a
wood grip, and a body cap. Not a bad trade.

Lon,
My second choice was and is the Super Program (Super A).
It has lots of features including TTL flash and DOF preview.
And when you just need some snapshots (like for Tom C's cover photos),
you can use a full program mode.
