Bah!

I've already decided to keep the K10D for the wife (or for me as a backup).
K-7 just shipped (yay!) and it'll be fun to see them side-by-side.

$200-$300 on ebay. KEH seems to sell them for between $300 and $400.

On 5/6/2010 5:43 PM, Charles Robinson wrote:

I'm about to have enough in my camera fund to pop for a K7.

Yes, I know there are rumors of something newer over the horizon, but that will
take longer than I care to wait, will cost more than I have saved up, and the
K-7 right now is at $843 at BHPhotovideo which is a pretty damned good price.

The question is: Is there any resale value to the K10D? I'd thought about handing it
down to my wife who would like occasionally to learn how to use a "real"
camera, but I hesitate to give her the K10D for the same reasons that I want to replace
it, namely: unpredictable/slow autofocus and exposure which can be all over the map.

On the other hand, if it wouldn't generate more than a couple hundred in
resale, then there really isn't much point in trying to sell it, is there?

What do you all think?

Considering my budget (and my propensity to sometimes do time exposures) I'll
probably just keep the K10D until such time as the wife tells me "I like using
a real camera but this thing is just too damned large" and then hopefully
she'll get a K-X (so I can use it from time to time).

Thanks for the tips 'n' suggestions, all. I'm just $150 short of my savings

To pay for itself.

At the time i was doing my horse show photography with film, and i
wanted ot go digital. The guy doing the shows digitally was upgrading
his computers and camera, D1 to D1x, and getting into bike racing
photos.
I bought his camera, computers printers etc, and took over doing the
shows he was doing.

I finally paid everything off, and then upgraded, but was just not
making enough to justify all of the work, so i packed it in last year.
Now i just go out, support our team and photograph them.

I'd keep it as a back up. Resale might not be worth while.

I was going to sell my D1 to help fund either a K-7 or D300 purchase,
but goingrate seems about $175.00(I paid $5000 for it) so i decided
just to keep it.

Still might send it to lifepixel and convert it to IR.

I kept mine, but sold two K20 and one K100 in the past 6 months to get

One reason I kept it was all the "how good it was a long night

In retrospect it looks like I shoulda sold it and picked up a K-x to
go with the K-7.
