Beautiful plumage.

It’s a fascinating article, thanks for posting it.

Incidentally, it’s not extinct, merely pinin’ for the fjords. My understanding
is that there is a breeding colony of them, descended from Genghis Khan’s
flock, still living in a secret location not unadjacent to Ulan Bator, and
everyone who buys one of the new Pentax film cameras will receive a free
Spectacled* Cormorant**.

And, yet another thought: maybe the author would want to upload it to the

I know that hole! Back in college when I was training for the Davis Double

more miles to the summit, and then back, about 50 miles round trip. That was
almost 40 years and 60 pounds ago.

the quality of the black, including a bit more eye detail is always

Re: Liverpool GESO: Time to play "Spot the Cormorant"

2016-10-13 Thread Gonz
Yes, but if you look at it from the back as you took it, the Beatle
holding the jacket should be to your right, not your left. The other
oddness is that the ones with the longer jackets are not together in
the middle whereas on the picture, they are separate. Must be from a
different photo.

There are other differences. Paul & George seem to have switched places.
The statue has Paul wearing a pea coat he's not wearing in the photo.

Judging by the rear plate and the fact that it appears to be nesting in
a gum tree, what you have there is the Greater Rusty Australian Falcon.
Not an especially rare species but not often seen in a nest.

I could see it's RHD, which was a clue to its origin.

Judging by the rear plate and the fact that it appears to be nesting
in a gum tree, what you have there is the Greater Rusty Australian
Falcon. Not an especially rare species but not often seen in a
nest.

I think that's a Falcon from Queensland - the number plate looks like 'OEK
170', which would date it
at about 1973-4, but the gum tree could be anywhere. Some of those Falcons are
still 'flying' -
they are good candidates for hotting-up.

Re: PESO - Sailboat and Cormorant

2013-06-14 Thread Bob Sullivan
Frank,
I'm teasing you. It's wonderful shot and great catch.
But I have seen people do things that are making me ill with Photoshop,
like adding the cormorant in post processing.
The new 'content aware' replacement feature really puts me off.
You have something in the image that doesn't fit - a sign,
a person, a twig, a car - just circle it with the cursor and BANG.
Photoshop will replace it for you with more background.
No need to get it right in the camera!
Regards, Bob S.
