I think you can discard the two photos before the last. The last one is
a keeper in my eyes.

It is an interesting artistic question, of how many, and which
pictures to include in a gallery. And the answer would change for
the audience, for example photographers, or motorheads.

I'm curious which shots other people would include in my bestest
collection, whether it's only one, or all 16.

Indeed. I used to be very selective when working with the shoots from
Galia's class. I am unofficial official photog of the class if you know
what I mean. But then people started complaining that I give them too
few pictures and I had to become less selective. It seems that I reached
the balance in this specific case as they appear to be happy now.

Well, even here it is a tough question as I realize that among the
photographers on this list there are not one and not two motorheads as
you put it.

Larry, without disrespect, but perchance you can trim it further, to,
say, 8 images?

I am not trying to attack you, I rather challenge you to be as brief as
you possibly can. That's an interesting exercise, I think.

If I were to trim it to 8, It would be these:
http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157624636199391/

Trimming further, I'd discard the last 3.

Further than that gets rather tough. I suspect that as it sits, there would be
some disagreement with my choices.

For example, while this shot may not be as strong photographically:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/4903351900/
the car with the ratty paint job is so incredibly cool, its a shame to drop it.

Also, the detail of the little France emblem:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/4903367820/
might be a nicer photo than some of the ones I've kept.

Come to think of it, I don't even agree completely with myself. When I look at
the shots I had selected for my best of October 2010 set, I had chosen 9 of
them, but not the same 9.

this unrestored (?) one:
 http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/4903351900/

is a really beautiul looking car - like a well-used Leica. I'd love to drive
that, more so than the shinily-restored ones, or the Veyron, although I
wouldn't pass up the chance of driving any of them.

This is lovely too:
 http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/4902768967/

Much nicer to see than those that are buffed, polished and gleaming to
concours-standard.

I see that we share an aesthetic. I just loved the Bugatti that looked like it
had been painted with a stick. There were several there that looked like they
had been honest racecars, and had not been restored to garage queen status.

I had a net.friend who I haven't heard from in a while, Roland Dudley, who
drove around in a beater 289 Cobra. I saw him drive by on hwy 9 once and knew
it was him because there aren't too many cobras on the road that have had the
paint stripped off, but are being driven around despite the owner not having
gotten around to repainting them.
