yep, there are restrictions. Nothing above 1600 yet; they're still
working on the firmware.

I saw a few shots done with the onboard. Close ( 2-3 ft), no hot spots,
blown highlights, ok, if you want to use the onboard. I would think a
dedicated flash would fare as well or probably better. I do know that once
it was in my hand, my hand didn't want to release it's grip. Fit my hand
like a glove with my little finger curled under the body. Deep finger notch
was perfect for me to hold with my right hand if I want to. Didn't spend a
lot of time with it, I already know I want one, wish some prints would sell.

Steve,
I'm not Doug either, but I did fondle the K-7 on Saturday.
Nothing is as small as the DS, but the K-7 is smaller and sharper
angled than the K10 or K20.
It feels notably smaller than the K10 or K20 and handles that way.
See the comparison shots posted online.
Plus the screen on the back looks like a picture window! IT'S HUGE.

I must say I'm quite happy with my K20D. I'm actuaælly considering buying a
second one.
Perhaps I should go for the K7 in stead. Or maybe the new K7 will make used
prises of the K20D drop a bit (if any are available at all).
I'm definitely selling my K10D. I just use it for back-up and for aerial
photography, where I need two bodies - one for the FA* 2.8 28-70mm and one for
the FA* 2.8 80-200mm. (Great outfit BTW :-) - I love those two lenses a lot -
heavy - but they're good

certain to follow the rules given me- VGA size and nothing over
ISO1600.
This has firmware version 0.35 on it, so we're still talking pre-
production

here.

Even so, it's producing some outstanding stuff (well, as
outstanding as I

ever get...) and the metering is lust-worthy.

If anyone has questions regarding handling, buttons, etc, let me
know and

I'll do my best to answer them.

Re: got the K7 in my hot little hands

2009-06-01 Thread Pawel Hottowy
Doug,

Would be nice to see some photos taken with "natural" color setting. I
did not like colors in samples from K7 I've seen so far - no subtle
gradation, very 'monochromatic' colors to me - and I believe/hope it
was because of the "bright" setting. The best would be some sample
picture with trees or grass, with rather low contrast of the scene:))
VGA size can be enough.

got the K7 in my hot little hands

2009-06-01 Thread Doug Brewer
For a few hours on Saturday I did my best to find something to dislike
about the K7, but I was unsuccessful.

Today I ran through some of the files, and I will be posting a few,
making certain to follow the rules given me- VGA size and nothing over
ISO1600. This has firmware version 0.35 on it, so we're still talking
pre-production here.

Even so, it's producing some outstanding stuff (well, as outstanding as

and I'll do my best to answer them.
