if anyone is interested ...
local camera store has an adapter to use Nikon F-mount (pre AI, AI, AIs) lenses on a Pentax body. Unit has a compensating lens inside to allow for infinity focus. $30 is their price on it. Wow! I never knew such a thing existed. It certainly sounds intriguing. What's the used market like on F-mount lenses? Are there lots of them and can any good ones be had relatively cheap? -- Walt On 2/24/2012 11:01 AM, Collin Brendemuehl wrote: local camera store has an adapter to use Nikon F-mount (pre AI, AI, AIs) lenses on a Pentax body. I would be concerned that the cheap compensation lens definitely degrades the fine image quality of the nikkor mounted. - J.C.O'Connell hifis...@gate.net - -Original Message- From: pdml-boun...@pdml.net [mailto:pdml-boun...@pdml.net] On Behalf Of Walt Gilbert Sent: Friday, February 24, 2012 12:14 PM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: if anyone is interested ... Truly execrable image quality - the glass in the adapter is crap. But... the glass is also removable! You lose infinity focus, of course, so what you end up with is a combination extension tube and lens mount adapter. I use it for attaching my Sigma 180/3.5 macro (Pentax mount) on the Sony. Who cares about infinity focus, AF or stop-down metering for macro work? Re: if anyone is interested ...
Nikon makes some nice crisp lenses, and the compensating lens will turn them into wilted mush... Just a thought. From what i have receieved from my poll so far, everyone is pleased with the *istD's images as in they are sharp and do not have the digital look to them. Got me to thinking(2nd time this year,i'm on a roll.lol)Have you compared these *istD print images against other DSLR images to see how they hold up or are supierior maybe. If i printed out a horse jumping shot,or for that ,matter any other shot i think is good, with my S800 inkjet AND make one from Futureshops lab would anyone care to receive a mail package, have a look to compare and pass it on to anyone else interested.???
