RE: Re: bullying

2002-10-02 Thread Simon Spurrell, T-GR

You can say the US leadership are bullies, I agree with you. But they still
rule from within the law, and with a mandate from the America people. Sure
they manipulate the press as much as they can, but ultimately the press is
free, and the people will search out the free press. Yes Saddam is a bully,
yes the North Korean leadership are bullies they deserve to get kicked out
and hope they both do. Iran seems to be a democracy, as much as the US (and
more so then the UK), so I do not think it is fair to include them Bush's
famous Axis of Evil comment. Bullies only understand force and force is
probably what we should give them.

BTW2, after Saddam (and before him, Milosevic),
 who will be official US
Hitler du jour? should pen-l start a pool on
 this question?

At this point the N. Korean leadership would
admit to cattle mutilations and UFOs to avoid
being singled out for vitiation by the empire.

Iran is past the cult of personality of the
Ayatollah K. and is in many ways more democratic
than S. Arabia. But I'm pretty sure the US
establishment wants to revise some history here.

Earth Summit in South Africa, Kyoto protocol

2002-09-01 Thread Simon Spurrell, T-GR

Recently Tony Blaire says We can't solve climate change by being
anti-business or anti-success, This is probably the reason why USA refused
to sign the Kyoto protocol. If we can find a way to be pro-business,
pro-development and pro-environmental at the same time the problem is
solved. Any solutions Not until oil runs dry probably

Climate change would it really be so bad?

Problems - Sea level rises. Bangladesh sinks - Netherlands events even more
elaborate ways to keep the sea out. People have to moved if necessary to new
countries.

More rainfall over the planet.
More floods and anti flood measures would have to be taken.
Reverse of desertification - possible.
More productive land likely in arid or cold areas.

We are a planet with a mixture of gasses in a very delicate balance. If we
cannot withstand even a small change of this balance. What hope is there for
the human race or life on this planet for the years to come...

So please add your comments for good and bad things that could come from
Global Warming. Because there is not a thing we can do about it.
