I saw you hand are tied here.
Yeah, really strange that Rmod have difficulty to attract Ph.D student,
indeed.
So be it then.

Jean-Baptiste I think that you are overreacting but I cannot do much.
I do not see why when we refer to a public link on internet we would have to
ask
for permissions to use it.
Now you can ask the author of the interview to remove the page if you do not
like it.
I cannot do much.
And since you are into be professional.
Try it you will see it does not hurt.

2019-10-11 Thread jean baptiste arnaud
I really tried to be nice here but you really do not make my task easy here.

So, let's be more specific:
I strongly dislike the usage of this interview of me in this specific
context.
Next time please use my linked in account it is also public.
Or better ask me, before.

I dont care if you really understand why this piss me off that hard.
And I really consider there are enough toxicity in this community to not
add my bile here.

You are at a crossroad here, been correct, professional and respectful.
And say: "ok, it will not happen again"
And respect me as a person. And we can continue this strange and friendly
relationship.
Or:
Continue on the "I do whatever I want this is public."
And finally showing me that you have literally 0 respect for me.

Your life your choice.

Huge bonus is you say "I am sorry" even in private, but I guess this is
stopping be you.

[Pharo-dev] PhD starting in January/February 2020 on Advanced debugging with Pharo

2019-10-09 Thread Stéphane Ducasse
Dear Friends

We just learned that we have a PhD grant for three years in the RMOD team.
The problem is that the PhD should start January or February of 2020.
We are looking for potential candidates. Please contact Steven Costiou

The topics are around the following theme:
- On-the-fly debugging of concurrent and unstoppable progams
- Live back-in-time debugging
- Concurrent object-centric debugging
- Dynamic and unanticipated VM upgrades with new debugging primitives for the
debugging of unstoppable programs
- Transforming debugging instrumentation into unit tests
- Transforming debugging instrumentation into software updates / patches (in
unstoppable programs)

- English
- Good communication
- Good oop and Pharo is a big plus :)

Here is some information about the PhD

- 108 000 KEuros for three years (around 1600 Euros monthly netto)
- Typical rent is around 400-600 Euros
- Food is good and not expensive
- Metro/buses is 21 Euros per month
- Lille is located 30 min from Brussels, 1 hour from Paris, 1,3 hours of train
from London.
- 120 000 students over two large campuses and multiple schools
- The team has a long experience of working with foreigners: Mariano
MartinezPeck, Nick Papoulias, Pablo Tesone,
Guillermo Polito…. all did a PhD with us. We have around 10 nationalities in
the tearm.
