[Phono-L] 1926 Victor Record Catalog

2011-08-24 Thread Merle Sprinzen
I've been collecting some of Victor's annual catalogs, and have a question
about the one from 1926. My copy -- and all the others I've ever seen --
say on the cover that the catalog is complete to October 1, 1926. Did
Victor ever print a catalog that covered the entire year?

[Phono-L] Columbia Cranks

2011-08-24 Thread Brian Walter
Help! Two of my Columbia cranks have grown legs and walked away. I am in need
of cranks for my Columbia BF and Columbia AH(second style)!! I would prefer
originals, but would look at reproductions. There are for my personal
collection and would like them complete. Thank you for any leads( if you see
them walking around).

[Phono-L] Items for sale

2011-08-24 Thread john robles
Hello all
I just bought a copy of Holiday Greetings from the Bunch at Orange, so I am
selling a few smalls to help reimburse me for it! I have some some very nice
and unusual needle tins for you collectors, including a rare HMV nickeled tin
that is almost 3 around and which has 4 compartments and an embossed logo on
top, and a very rare tin fro the Belgian Congo in Africa. Here's the link if
you would like to look.
Thanks

[Phono-L] Mystery box - Edison

2011-08-24 Thread Andrew Baron
Thanks Bill and Steve and everyone for the comments and photos of the
boxes.

Looks like two variations of this box, with the Amberola variant
having three holes and the Disc version having two.

The disc version seems to have a gap between the glued-in wedge shaped
insert and the side wall of the box. It would be interesting to know
if this allowed for the containment of some kind of literature or
owner's manual, or if it was simply an economy of materials to make
the solid wood insert a certain dimension that made it not quite go
all the way to the wall of the box.

It's great to see the tools in detail and with measurements.

If anyone has any further information, it would be good to be aware
of, but this is a nice start.

Thanks again,
Andrew Baron

Folks,

Here is my Amberola 1A box. It has 3 holes. I also have that same
oil can you pictured which came with the Amberola. I never knew it
fit in the box!

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Guys,

This is the box in my Opera that I believe is probably what has
been discussed on Phono-L. As I said earlier, I have have several
Operas over the years but have only had one with this box and
equipment in it. If it the same as yours, perhaps it will help
clear up the mystery.

Happy Collecting,
