Re: [Phono-L] Can anyone recommend a mover / shipper
Hey Tim,I use North American Van Lines (NAVL) to ship my pinball machines. They come to the house, wrap it and off it goes. Shipping generally runs between $300 - $500.Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving! - Nick --- On Thu, 11/24/11, Tim McCormick wrote: From: Tim McCormick Subject: [Phono-L] Can anyone recommend a mover / shipper To: "'Antique Phonograph List'" Date: Thursday, November 24, 2011, 11:31 AM Folks, I need to move a 1920's era desk from El Cajon, California to Crawfordsville, Indiana. Re: [Phono-L] six springs! count 'em
The general opinion at the time I owned it was that it was one of a kind made by somebody who was demonstrating or selling something. The something may have been the make of cylinder or the song on the cylinder. It could have been in a music store and used to play cylinders that people wanted to hear before buying. The other "something" that it might have been used for sticks out like the "sore thumb". The machinist made the whole piece without using any Edison parts so why would he just put a standard carriage on it and not make a brass one? Could it be that the purpose of this was to demonstrate some new type of reproducer?Did it have a very rare reproducer that was sold separate from the machine before I bought it? I don't know for sure. Remains a mystery. ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org

Great Pictures ! That machine or one just like it can be seen in Charley Hummel's collection. - Original Message - From: bruce78...@comcast.net To: "Antique Phonograph List" Sent: Wednesday, November 23, 2011 6:56:01 PM Subject: Re: [Phono-L] six springs! count 'em Wow, that is pretty darn incredible ! I can't imagine that many of them produced or sold. I wonder why there is not a hint on or in the cabinet or on the bed plate as to who made it . - Original Message - From: "Alan Wohl" To: "Antique Phonograph List" Sent: Wednesday, November 23, 2011 3:29:58 PM Subject: [Phono-L] six springs! count 'em When I read about a six spring machine I remembered one that I had thirty years ago. I got it up at the Brimfield , Ma. flea market and thought it was quite a find. Had it for a little while before I sold it. Never did find out what or who made it. Hope I did this correctly. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58867556@N02/ ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org
