I'll be committing what I have tomorrow morning to HEAD, and we can
figure out what we want to merge (or not) after that get's some QA
attention.

As for the Apache 2 MPMs, this commit should get us working on all known
MPMs, including windows and other platform-specific MPMs. Static module
support is something that probably needs to be solved on a larger scale
from inside apache, but we can address that too.

I just wanted to reiterate what Cliff is saying. We just posted a
patch to fix 1 of the 2 major problems from the apache2filter, and I'm
pounding on the second now. The more visibility we have into this module
the more likely it is that we'll find and squash the bugs. Also, having
PHP available for Apache 2 would be awesome sooner than later. :)

It can be enabled only when the user compiles PHP with --with-apxs2 or --with-apache2
anyway right ?
so I agree with the idea to leave it there and explain that it is not supposed to work
in a stable way...
it won't bother users that don't try to compile it with apache2 support and for the
other ones, they'll
know what to expect anyway...
it's just my opinion.

+1 from me. I think giving people a chance to play around with it will make

Why do we still get bug reports about floats.
Why do we still get bug reports about built-in mysql libs
and mod_auth_mysql.

Again, better it be in and broken (which could actually assist
in the QA process) than not in at all after being in for all this
time.

And hey, this is just my opinion... ok?   :)

Actually, I complied CVS apache2filter with 2.0.35, and it segfaults on
some mysql functions. I don't know the reason yet, but what is clear that
it's not in the 'working' stage as of now.

Heh, *I* give a shit for /., honestly.

I prefer a working and Q&A'd release "it's done when it's

know

Apache2. It depends what you like more... Beta code tested in the wild (not

IMHO, removing Apache2 support will not affect the number of
Apache2-related bugs reported. If anything, removing it will
cause more.

Why not leave it in there, mark it as beta/unstable and be
vocal about that in the release announcement.

As you mentioned, it caused segfaults in mysql.

as Derick mentioned, we haven't done any serious QA.

as apache mentioned, it's just gone on GA, so there will probably be a
bugfix release w/in the next month of bugs complained about on the apache
lists.

we should forgoe a release that includes apache2 compliancy, and make sure
we have a release that is stable. imho.
