yeah, well i'm already doing that sir. only problem
is, since few days my PWS is not working. Fortunately,
just minutes ago i was able to fix it so that ASP is
running perfectly on PWS now. Only PHP is not. So
anyway, i guess i've dropped the idea of making PHP4
run on PWS since it is not going to (somehow). So now
i Am running PWS/Apache/Jrun on my PC and working with
ASP, PHP & JSP. no problem.

that you do mention it, can u tell me if it's better
to use IIS or PWS? and where can i get IIS?

Cheers,

IIS is *NOT* free! Actually it's rather expensive - check your local

Yeah, I suppose for a HOME server PWS is just fine. If you don't want to do

[PHP] PHP as apache module and security.

2001-05-06 Thread Andrzej Swedrzynski

Hello!

Recently someone asked how to ensure that no one will read pas

writing php script (run also as nobody) which reads filesystem

Is there a method of making php as module really secure?

Re: [PHP] PHP on PWS not working!

2001-05-06 Thread Phil Driscoll

What is going wrong is that you are using the ISAPI version of PHP and it is
quite unstable on anything lower than W2K. It manifests itself in the server
500 errors you describe and, because it kills bits of the server, ASP dies
as well.

Just change to the cgi installation and all should become good.

If you are using ASP then I think that moving to Xitami is not an option
(someone correct me if I'm wrong with that guess).

In the same vein, IIS only runs on NT server and W2K so that may not be an
option - and in any case that would fall over with the ISAPI module as well.

Cheers

[PHP] Image displaying problem

2001-05-06 Thread Estelle Martin

Hi all,
I am using PHP 4.02 on a Solaris 8 box.
We have a very strange problem : we have a program that choses banners to
display on our sites. The code is a javascript, because it can be put on
simple html pages. The images is chosen through a php code, that with
"header" function sends the image. It works great, but in one case: when in
a php page, we display the page coming from a form submission. In this case,
the image is not displayed at all. There is no error in the logs, all the
actions required in the php page sending the image are correctly performed,
but the image is not here. When we hit "reload", the image come. When we
take the information about the image and type the address directly in the
address field of the browser, the image displays correctly.
The problem does not occur in Netscape 6.0. But in IE 4 and IE 5 ...

One example:
http://forum.megaphone.ch/search.php?f=6

Without a form submission, the banner (on the right top of the page)
displays correctly. Try to submit the form, the image does not come :-(

Thank you for helping,

Estelle

Re: [PHP] class (not class instance) variables

2001-05-06 Thread Gyozo Papp

Hello,

 I don't know the way to declare static properties explicitly, maybe this is even not
supported yet.
But, ...
when I recently develop some classes in PHP I've found that static variables declared
inside methods behave like static properties in C++. This means you should write a
function (more accurate: a method) like test() in the code below and declare your
statics within this functions.

My simple test() return the current value of the static variable or sets its new value
if any parameter is given.
I don't know this is the normal behaviour, but it works for me on PHP 4.0.4pl1 with
Apache on Win98.

The example is following:
a = $a;
  $this->test($a);
 }

 function test($set = '')
 {
  static $common;
  return empty($set) ? $common : $common = $set;
 }
}

$a1 = new A(4); // sets $common in test to 4.
var_dump($a1->test());
$a2 = new A(5); // sets $common in test to 5.
var_dump($a2->test()); // echoes "int(5)"
var_dump($a1->test()); // echoes "int(5)" for $a1 too!
?>

I hope this helps and please inform me if it doesn't return the expected result.
Then I won't use this feature (in other occassions), so please be so kind !

best

For every class I do create additional class called MetaXXX where
XXX is the name of the original class. In the MetaXXX I do decla
re all variables and methods which I would make static in other
language such as C++ or Java. Then I do create one and only one
object of class MetaXXX (called metaXXX for convenience) which is
available in global scope. Hope this will help you.

Re: [PHP] quicker query?

hello,
maybe there is another solution that should be quicker, because it uses fewer DB query.

I don't have a clear view what you want from this query, so if you can give me a short
description about it
it would be appriciated. I think this one does the same job:

INSERT INTO galaxy
SELECT
cluster AS gcluster,
sum(size) as gsize,
sum(score) as gscore,
galaxy AS ggalaxy
FROM universe
WHERE cluster BETWEEN 1 AND 200 AND galaxy BETWEEN 1 AND 26
GROUP BY cluster, galaxy;

Is there a faster (better) way to do the following:

if ($result) {
for ($cluster=1;$cluster<200;$cluster++) {
for($galaxy=1;$galaxy<26;$galaxy++) {

$sql="insert into galaxy select avg(cluster) as gcluster,sum(size) as gsize,sum(score)
as gscore,avg(galaxy) as ggalaxy from universe where cluster='$cluster' and
galaxy='$galaxy'";
$result=db_query($sql);

Thanks

Re: [PHP] PHP as apache module and security.

2001-05-06 Thread Estelle Martin

Hi,
What do you think about the following configuration:
1) safe-mode on : this ensures that a php script can read only files that
are owned by the same Unix user on the machine; then just check that people
having a right to use php and mysql on your box have all a different
corresponding Unix user.
2) open-basedir : put this parameter for each "php directory" to this
directory; then the scripts cannot access files that are elsewhere on the
server

In Apache httpd.conf it would be like:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php4
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
php_admin_value open_basedir '/path-to-a-php-directory'

Has someone tested it ? Do you see a problem in it ?

I can not use it because I need to create files dynamically and
they will have ,,nobody'' as an user. Further executing scripts
have no way to read those files.

I haven't tested it, however it looks nice and I'll talk to my
server's owner about it. There is however one bad feature of this
method, the administroation. For every user and every application
administrator has to create an entry in httpd.conf. Anyway it's
his/her problem...

Re: [PHP] wordwrap

There no tag, but a function wordwrap().
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.wordwrap.php
You need to separate vars into message and comments also.

Programming in any language w/o reading manual/reference is just a waste of
time. IMO.

Is there a tag in php that acts like "wordwrap=virtual" does in html? I have a
script that is sending out variables in a email from a contact form, but for a
comments section it will not wordwrap in the email.
Thanks

[PHP] php4apachi.dll

2001-05-06 Thread Darren

Hi. I just installed a fresh copy a windows 95. I installed winsock 2,
apache 1.3.19 and php4. I followed the instructions with the php
installation and I booted apache, I got a missing dll error message from
apache. I got the impression that it wasn't php4apache.dll that was missing
as it was there and http.conf was pointing to it. I can only assume that
there is another dll somewhere that is missing. Any ideas?
Thank you

Does it's neccessary that if PHP file (*.php) can be parse and execute by

[PHP] Install problems with PHP and GD

2001-05-06 Thread John Vanderbeck

Hello all,

Normally I have a sysadmin that takes care of all these things, but recently
I joined onto another project and we are all clueless :)

We need to install the GD extras, mainly JPEG and PNG for creating images
with PHP. We are using the latest PHP and RedHat Linux. We understand that
you need to compile in the GD options, but are unclear on what the path's
are that it asks for.

Would anyone has the kindness to write up a quick Installation of PHP-GD for
Dummies? :)

Thanks a million!

slickedit is what I preffer to use, you got syntax highlighting, api help,
function tagging so that you get info about your own functions, autocomplete
on variable and functionnames, configurable to the limits and support almost
any other major and minor language beside php. a bit pricy but still.

[PHP] if string contains...

2001-05-06 Thread Jamie Saunders

Hi,

I want to check whether a string contains a certain word e.g.

$varOne = "this is a string";

if ($varOne contains "is") {

 return true;

 } else {

 return false;

}

Is there an operator for 'contains', if not how do you do this?

Thanks.

Yes, I would like to know how people are doing this too. I have a database
where columns in multiple tables are searched for multiple keywords. The
statement ends up lookup like this for the entered keyword: 'this or that'
(the REGEXP prevents partial word matches, like 'hunk' in 'chunky') if you
want the source for this part, email me privately...

SELECT dates.date, dates.time, dates.city, dates.location, dates.contact,
dates.phone, dates.eventid, dates.id ,events.title, events.descrip,
events.speaker, events.attr, events.id

FROM dates, events

WHERE dates.eventid = events.id
  AND (
(
  ( dates.city REGEXP '[[:<:]]this[[:>:]]' )
   OR (dates.location REGEXP '[[:<:]]this[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.title REGEXP '[[:<:]]this[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.descrip REGEXP '[[:<:]]this[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.speaker REGEXP '[[:<:]]this[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.attr REGEXP '[[:<:]]this[[:>:]]' )
)
 OR (*note) (
  ( dates.city REGEXP '[[:<:]]that[[:>:]]' )
   OR (dates.location REGEXP '[[:<:]]that[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.title REGEXP '[[:<:]]that[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.descrip REGEXP '[[:<:]]that[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.speaker REGEXP '[[:<:]]that[[:>:]]' )
   OR (events.attr REGEXP '[[:<:]]that[[:>:]]' )
)
 )
AND date LIKE '2001-05%'
ORDER BY date

(*note): this would have been AND if the keyword was 'this and that'

is this how it is generally done or am I way off here? :)

cheers,
bill

RE: [PHP] searching a MySQL database

2001-05-06 Thread John Vanderbeck

Well, my site currently does not search based on multiple keywords, but
rather just ONE keyword. This makes it easiers, as I offload all the work
to mySQL.

However, theoreticly, you could do the same things with a complex SQL query.

[CODE]
case 'searchform':
{
  echo "Search for Article\n";
  echo "\n";
  echo "\n";
  echo "Keyword: \n";
  echo "";
  echo "\n";
  break;
}
case 'search':
{
  $link = db_connect();
  $query = "SELECT article_id,article_title,article_local,article_url FROM
Articles WHERE article_keywords LIKE'%$searchkeyword%'";
  $result = mysql_query($query, $link);
  echo "SQL Result:";
  echo mysql_error($link);
  echo "\n";
  echo "Your search results:\n";
  $numRows = mysql_num_rows($result);
  echo "Your keyword matched $numRows articles.\n";
  while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result))
  {
if ($row["article_local"] == 0)
{
// build link
$title = "".$row["article_title"]."";
}
else
{
// build link
$title = "http://gamedesign.incagold.com/displayarticle.php?mode=article&id=".$
row ["article_id"]."\">".$row["article_title"]."";
}
echo $title."\n";
  }
  break;
}
[/CODE]

[PHP] Slightly OT - Backing up mySQL...

Does anyone have any experience backing up mySQL from
a "shared" web hosting account? I don't have root

running a shell script to do the back up? Is there a
php script that will work better for me? I don't need
the database emailed to me... just zipped and put onto
my server where I can FTP it.

thanks in advance..

If you have shell-access you can use mysqldump to do a dump
of the database. Later you can use
'mysql -u user -p < dumpfile' to restore the database.
Check the man-page for mysqldump for details.

look at the mysqldump program if you have shell access to your
webhost... else look at phpmyadmin which has a feature to dump a
database to a csv file (afaik).

You may want to try this Query result table display class that you can
sub-class to customize details like row and cell colors and even
highlighting colors (the color that rows switch to when the mouse is over
them).

[PHP] Can php give me row number?

2001-05-06 Thread Jan Grafström

Hi!
First I wan´t to thank those kind guys who helped me with the search for
words in a string. It works fine and here goes my file:
---
$fd = fopen($filename1, "r");
$string = fread($fd, filesize($filename1));
fclose($fd);
if (eregi("$word", $string)) {
print "found the word";
}
-
Now I also wan´t to know to in which row the word was found.
Is there a simple way to add some code?

Thanks for any tips.
Regards
Jan

And how does this differ from any other ftp client ?

I use homesite. its increadable in its power and easy usage.

Homesite is not near as complex in learning as vim,

Does not differ. But I use ssh/scp for everything and with vim I
can send my file to its destination with a single keystroke. In
UltraEdit I would have to open ssh client and send file by
hand...

IMHO vim is worth learning and it's not as hard to learn as it
seems to be. And once you've learnt it you won't use any other
editor anymore ;-).

Re: [PHP] Can php give me row number?

2001-05-06 Thread Gyozo Papp

use fgets or fscanf (>= PHP 4.0.1)instead of fread.
Fgets(fp, length) ends reading when length - 1 bytes have been read, on a newline
(which is included in the return value),
or on EOF (whichever comes first).

But isn't VIM a *nix only tool?

The thread was about Windows IDE's. I'm always open to new editors though,

Tell me something, to make it back to the CGI ver, the
only thing i have to do is to give the path in my
regedit as "C:\php4\php.exe %s %s" instead of what i
was giving "C:\php4\sapi\(the php dll)" ?? or is there
something else also that i'll need to do?

You could explode the file into an array with "\r\n" as the delimiter before
you do the search, then iterate through the resulting array to look for the
word, then the array index you find the word in is the line number.

To save a couple lines of code, use the file() function, it returns the
contents conveniently pre-split into the array.

[PHP] Passing variables to another page - newbie

2001-05-06 Thread Dean Martin

I have an order form that is validating input, mailing me the results of the
form, then I want to pass the user off to either Paypal or Revecom
(depending on their choice) for processing.

Everything works except trying to pass the variables to the payment
processor.  I thought that

header("location://url?var1=value1?var2=value2") would work but not luck.

Could someone point me in the right direction please?

Re: [PHP] PHP on PWS not working!

2001-05-06 Thread Phil Driscoll

I dont' have PWS so I#m guessing, but you probably have to remove the PHP
ISAPI module from the list of installed ISAPI filters (you do have to do
this on IIS so I assume PWS is the same). No idea where the user interface
to this might be found though. Failing all else, deleting php4isapi.dll and
rebooting will ensure that the module is no longer loaded in the filters
list, and as long as PWS still starts then you are on to a winner!

Cheers

also is you want to add more than one variable in the example given you use
the '&' Sign

ex with one var:

header("Location: http://something.foo.bar.com/page.extension?var1=etc";);

ex with 3 vars:

header("Location:
http://something.foo.bar.com/page.extension?var1=etc&var2=123&var3=abc";);

[PHP] [OT?] permission denied[OT?]

2001-05-06 Thread Alexander Bierbrauer

Hi again,

I'm trying to write a few strings to a file on my Win2K home server(IIS 5).
But The only thing I get is:

Warning: fopen("score.txt","w") - Permission denied in

I've set the properties of score.txt to writeable and readable! I've got the
same error after setting the directory to write/readable too. Here's my
code...any hints??

THE CODE:
//falls er nicht in die datei schreiben kann
if(!is_writeable("score.txt"))print("file is not writeable"); //<- I
don't get this message!

if($datei=fopen("score.txt","w"))
{
for($i=0;$i<$scorecount;$i++)
{
 //falls der spieler mehr punkte hat wird dieser ausgegeben
 if($usrscore>$tmpscore[$i] && $check==false)
 {
  fwrite($datei,$usrname);
  fwrite($datei,$usrscore);
  fwrite($datei,$usrmode);
  fwrite($datei,$usrplayer);
  $check=true;
 }

[PHP] file() shooting blanks

2001-05-06 Thread Jay Lepore

Hello,

I have an ASCII fixed width text file I'm trying to convert to an array of
fields.

When I use file() to place each line (record) in it's own array element, it
strips out any blanks it finds except one. This results in in ABC
MOTORS becoming ABC MOTORS. That creates a problem if ABC is in a fixed
width 5 character field and MOTORS is in its own field.

Any ideas on how to get file() to not shoot out my blanks would be
appreciated.

after they were compiled and i have managed to get Apache working properly
again but now even when i do the basic tutorial stuff then I get a blank
page rather than what I am supposed to get, the tutorial page is no help as

Yes. It's actually pretty easy - you can tell flash to load a bunch of
variables from a URL. Your URL can return the encoded data (basically a
URL-style Variable=foo&OtherVariable=Bar format - check the Flash docs) and
Flash will create/update those variables to have the values returned. This can
be as easy as creating a text entry box and having a URL return a variable with
the same name - flash will update the contents of the text box automatically.

Try running the CGI version of PHP - you should get a nice error saying what
couldn't be loaded. The most common cause of this is due to extensions - either
it can't find the extension itself or, more commonly, the extension needs to
load another DLL and it can't find that. It may help to simply clear out your
php.ini's extension section and see if the problem goes away.

The easiest way is to create a simple page (called say test.php) with the
following

This should display a page with all sorts of information about your PHP,
and serves as a good test as to whether or not PHP is working

[PHP] while($fbuffer=fread($fp,4096)) and xml_parse($xml_parser,$fbuffer,feof($fp))

2001-05-06 Thread Dominique Hermsdorff

Hi,

Using PHP 4.0.4pl1 (I did not try with PHP 4.0.5).

While parsing a large file (>100MB) and using the following (simplified)
piece of code:

while(($fbuffer=fread($fp,4096)) && $continue){
//
// ...
//
  if(xml_parse($xml_parser,$fbuffer,feof($fp))){
  } else {
  // report error
  }
  if(...){
$continue=false;
  }
}

I discover discrepancies in the final result. Some elements or attributes
were lost and some data was truncated. It (obviously) looked like being a
so-called "random" behavior. I did install some debug code to eventually
arrive at the conclusion that there could be an issue when the limit of the
read buffer ends up right in the middle of a tag or data. I modified the
code as follows:

$unparsed_buffer="";
while(($fbuffer=fread($fp,4096)) && $continue){
//
// ...
//
  $fbuffer=$unparsed_buffer.$fbuffer;
  $last_tag_pos=strrpos($fbuffer,">");
  $unparsed_buffer=substr($fbuffer,$last_tag_pos+1);
  $fbuffer=substr($fbuffer,0,$last_tag_pos+1);
   //
  if(xml_parse($xml_parser,$fbuffer,feof($fp))){
  } else {
  // report error
  }
  if(...){
$continue=false;
  }
}

That solved the problems I was having.

My feeling is that when you pass "false" in the "isFinal" 3rd parameter to
xml_parse it means "don't scream if the input ends up right in the middle of
a structure" or other similar XML level object, but you have to pass a
buffer that ends up "correctly" (for instance, not cutting ""
into "http://www.php.net/)

If register_globals setting in php.ini configurations is 'on'

  echo $lang;// php

  echo $HTTP_GET_VARS['fruit'];  // apple
  echo $HTTP_GET_VARS['color'];  // green
  echo $HTTP_GET_VARS['lang'];   // php

If register_globals setting is off, access them through

if you're string is a variabe $address, then
eregi("http://",$address) will tell you if they've put in the http part, and
$address = substr("$address",7);
will slice off and store the text after the http://

you'll find lots of different ways to do this...whatever suits you, go for
it...

cluster, galaxy and planet are coordinates. The code I posted loops through
the universe and adds up size and score for each galaxy. There are 742
clusters each with 25 galaxies and each galaxy has 25 planets. I average the
cluster and galaxy sum the score and size then insert the results into a new
table. The script goes on to the next cluster galaxy and does the same
thing. It does this till it gets to cluster 742 galaxy 25.

hello,
maybe there is another solution that should be quicker, because it uses
fewer DB query.

I don't have a clear view what you want from this query, so if you can give
me a short description about it
it would be appriciated. I think this one does the same job:

INSERT INTO galaxy
SELECT
cluster AS gcluster,
sum(size) as gsize,
sum(score) as gscore,
galaxy AS ggalaxy
FROM universe
WHERE cluster BETWEEN 1 AND 200 AND galaxy BETWEEN 1 AND 26
GROUP BY cluster, galaxy;

Is there a faster (better) way to do the following:

if ($result) {
for ($cluster=1;$cluster<200;$cluster++) {
for($galaxy=1;$galaxy<26;$galaxy++) {

$sql="insert into galaxy select avg(cluster) as gcluster,sum(size) as
gsize,sum(score) as gscore,avg(galaxy) as ggalaxy from universe where
cluster='$cluster' and galaxy='$galaxy'";
$result=db_query($sql);

Thanks

str_replace()

$string = "http://www.foo.com";;

$string = str_replace("http://","",$string);

echo $string;

Will echo out:

www.foo.com

Hi biscut,
you are wise if you use NS to view your pages, because if you make a mistake
NS will show it, mostly nothing.
Look at the source (right mouse button) sometimes the wrong oart of code
will be shown blinking.
Otherwise check your code for missing endtags like .
These guys at MS couldn´t program a correct html - engine in their
Office packages, therfor they made their IE a little tolerant ;-)
Best is to check the code with tidy (http://www.w3c.com or something like this)
You will get all errors shown.

Re: [PHP] quicker query?

2001-05-06 Thread Gyozo Papp

Hello Michael,

I'm bit confused now.
In your first letter, you wrote this simple code :
---
if ($result) {
for ($cluster=1;$cluster<200;$cluster++) {
for($galaxy=1;$galaxy<26;$galaxy++) {

$sql="insert into galaxy select avg(cluster) as gcluster,sum(size) as
gsize,sum(score) as gscore,avg(galaxy) as ggalaxy from universe where
cluster='$cluster' and galaxy='$galaxy'";
$result=db_query($sql);
---
(by the way where you close the braces? after db_query?)

So, your script iterates on $cluster and $galaxy. In each iteration you select those
rows from the table universe
whose $galaxy and $cluster attributes match the respective variables. [ Here comes
where I'm messed up. ]
Therefore your select statement fetch rows with the same galaxy and cluster value,
then why to calculate avg() on these fields?

> cluster, galaxy and planet are coordinates. The code I posted loops through
> the universe and adds up size and score for each galaxy.

adds up size and score is the sum () in select?

> There are 742 clusters each with 25 galaxies and each galaxy has 25 planets. I
>average the
> cluster and galaxy sum the score and size then insert the results into a new

so please give me a light why to average when these values are the same for each row?
Did i miss  something?

but I suggest to you writing out these $sql queries and attach it to your mail (not
the whole just the first 100).
Maybe it helps me to understand.

create a new php file. If you call the function phpinfo(), you should get
a bunch of useful information. If you're getting an error message
complianing about PHP not being enabled, then check out your configuration
file.

I think there is an line something like enable engine. That might be
turned off, but it should be on by default.

Hope this helps,

Check for output compression in output buffering in your php script, I don't
think it always works.

I did, even to the extent of copying and pasting the text straight off of
the tutorial into the file that I created using vi.

Very strange

Is there a PHP function that will redirect the current page to another url?

e.g.

 if ($varTwo == $varOne) {

 URL redirection code

 } else {

 echo "You stay right where you are!";

Thanks.

if i were you, and i am serious about this, then i'd install apache on

[PHP] FILE () STRIPS BLANKS FROM THE ARRAY - HOW CAN I STOP IT

2001-05-06 Thread Jay Lepore

I have an ASCII fixed width text file I'm trying to convert to an array of
fields. But I need to keep the spaces in tact so I know exactly where one
field ends and another begins.

Do you know of any way to modify the default behavior of file() which strips
the blanks spaces out when returning the array?

RE: [PHP] Passing variables to another page - newbie

2001-05-06 Thread Dean Martin

Thanks to everyone for the help - unfortunately my problem seems to be the
function I'm using to do the redirecting. header() is supposed to be the
first item passed. What I'm trying to do is use a line of code well down
into the logic of my script to redirect the user to another page along with
the necessary variables.

I may need to validate input on one page, have another form inside my code
that is executed after the first form posts, then when they choose payment
type that form can post to the appropriate payment site Seems like an
extra step.

also is you want to add more than one variable in the example given you use
the '&' Sign

ex with one var:

header("Location: http://something.foo.bar.com/page.extension?var1=etc";);

ex with 3 vars:

header("Location:
http://something.foo.bar.com/page.extension?var1=etc&var2=123&var3=abc";);

Rather than echo or print every line out, append them to an
output buffer / variable, and echo it at the end of the script.

This lets you do a Header() anywhere you need to do it.

[PHP] PHP based Reminder System

2001-05-06 Thread Chris Aitken

Hey all,

Im just wondering if anyone has come across a PHP based system which allows
people to log in, and set reminders for themselves, and at the time
specified, emails them the reminder ?

I know a system could be written utilising cron/php/sendmail etc but I was
thinking that maybe a system has already been written doing this.

Cheers

Chris

Why would you need to print anything out before redirecting them?

Right, you may want to check this PHP class that does exactly what you

Maybe you would like to try Metabase, that not only provides a easy
interface to manage database transactions, but also works seeminglessly
with different types of databases: MSSQL, Oracle, Interbase, etc...

[PHP] converting fields from a fixed length text file into an array

2001-05-06 Thread Jay Lepore

:Please forgive me for having posted this more than once. I am trying to
reword it here to make it more plain.
---
I have a fixed length text file I'm trying to import and send into MySQL.

A record line is about 1600 characters long and includes many blank spaces.

I thought by using file('FILENAME.TXT') I would have a nice neat array of
each record in the file based on each line being a record.
Here's an example txt file:

ABCDEFG HIJ KLMNOP
YASFSEFAFSAFSDFFDS
(notice the 4 spaces after J and before K on line 1 of the above text file)

So, I went on breaking up the line into fields by doing this:

$ra=$recordArray=file('FILENAME.TXT');

for($index=0;$indexhttp://www.php.net/)

You probably forgot to close a table with the tag. IE bends the
rules a bit and allows that to be omitted, Netscape doesn't, and an
unclosed table in Netscape is invisible.
