[pinhole-discussion] disposible camera
Hello I recently got a copy of the disposible camera handout, thank you very much. But I was at the gallery where I work the other day, taking a disposible cameera apart. And one of the security guards dave asked me what I was doing, when I said I was making a pinhole camera, he thought I was perhaps some king of pervert. Although I think maybe when I said pinhole the was thinking about one of those one you see on ebay to spy on your nanny to make sure she isn't stealing from you or battering your kids while you are a work. I think he just did'nt understand. Does anyone else have any stories of pinhole-related misunderstanding. Also I don't really understand what this pinhole rat is. Ben

[pinhole-discussion] Re: [pinhole-discussion]
Hello everybody, I really appreciate, all the advice I have recived regarding pinhole polaroids and cyanotypes. Just recently there was a big debate regarding digital photography versus more traditonal techniques. I think that is all well and good. but I bought big dan burkholders book. And it alloed me to make images at a fraction of the cost. I can understand why people would'nt want to sully the purity of the art form. but. buying a load of sheet film is a lot les expensive than buying epson photo quality inkjet paper. Ben

Re: [pinhole-discussion] ortho film
I didnt realise that ortho and litho films are the same. does that mean litho film and be developed in trays under a red light? this is good news because I had been looking at the ilford ortho film and its a lot more expensive than litho film Ben
Re: [pinhole-discussion] ortho film
Hello I would love to try cyanotypes, but I live in the UK so it might be expensive to send it here. I think I know where to get some from in london. I have some questions about the process 1. do you have to use the chemicals on special paper or can you use it on any paper like with liquid emulsion. 2. can you print from a paper negative onto cyanotype paper. thanks ben
Re: [pinhole-discussion] Images
Hello I made the images on 35mm film and then had them enlarged at boots the chemist because I don't have access to a darkroom.. so they aren't that big, only 5x4. I have started to use 120 film so I can print my pictures bigger. I have made some larger images on paper in a camera I made out of a tube that is 86cm tall and 40cm in diametre, but I have never contact printed them, or any other images for that matter, this is because I develop the pictures in my bathroom, with is quite small. I would be interested in learning how to contact print is it easy? does it work with normal VC photo paper. what do you use for a light, can you do it without an enlarger. I think I am going to try cyanotypes so I can make prints without expensive darkroom equipment. Ben
Re: [pinhole-discussion] new images
Hi everybody I have been recieving messages from the discussion group for a while, but I have never added anything until now. I have uploaded two images to the gallery, the adddresses are below. I have never showed my work to anyone before, and I would appreciate some feedback. They are quite small, this is because I have never uploaded anything before and probably did it wrong. These are taken with a 35mm pinhole camera. using XP2 film . they were made using a flash. I have been taking pinhole photos for a year. I have made quite a lot with film, and some larger ones with paper. I am interested in using large format film, so I can make larger prints. Re: [pinhole-discussion] ortho film
Hello Everybody I was wondering if anyone could help me. I would like to know more about ortho film. I have heard it can be developed in a tray under a safe light. Also I have heard there are alternative processes called canotypes that can be developed in sunlight. I would appreciate some information about them Cheers Ben
