[pinhole-discussion] BenDuross_Mac to PC
Ben, You wrote --- Also Does anyone know how to convert images scanned and/or manipulated in photoshop on a mac, so they can be view and manipulated in photoshop on a pc, does typing "psd" on the end of the file work? This is how I handled this situation. As long as you have Photoshop on both the Mac and the PC the files will open. All Photoshop files have the extension of "psd". What you need is a software program that can convert from Mac to PC. One such program is called "Mac Opener" but there are probably others. Just ask at a software dealer for a program that allows for opening Mac files on a PC. Temi

[pinhole-discussion] Multiple Pinholes
What is the best way to figure the approx time when using more than one pinhole. There are a lot of variables as to placement of pinholes and sizes, etc., but what is a good starting point to experiment. Would it be best to come up with a total opening and figure time from this or to figure time for one pinhole and then divide this by the number of pinholes used.

Hi Tina, Nice site - I enjoyed the transfers - will need to try this myself someday. Your "Clouds" page is labeled "Trees" - thought you might like to correct this.
Re: [pinhole-discussion] the Pinhole Polls are open...
Whatever month is voted in, stating the date as the Last Sunday of would allow it to apply to future years. If more time is needed, maybe the Last Sunday in May would be best. The summer months and vacations may make it difficult for some to process any pinhole photos they may take. Another thought - What time period will be set for the photos to be posted to the web. Some persons may not be able to process right away. Also, give thought to the possibility of Pinhole Week rather than Pinhole Day. This would allow for any location to make plans that would best suit their particular time schedules. If a group in one location decides it would be nice to gather together for this special event, they would have more leeway in their planning. I agree that we will certainly learn from this First Event, and can then use this knowledge for the extra special "2nd Pinhole Event" so it will at least have double or triple the participation as our 1st Pinhole Event. Guy, I especially admire your "A Rose in Winter" image. The subject matter is very appealing and the brown cast seems to give "life" to the roses. I recently purchased some the the Luminos Charcoal paer but have not as yet tried it. After seeing your image I am overly anxious to use this paper. Temi
[pinhole-discussion] Pinhole Day Animated Logo
I appreciate the animated logo very much. If an animated logo is chosen (this one or someone else's), maybe the opening view of the animated section could show information as to when the event was taking place. Then the balance of the animation could show views representatiave of the different parts of the globe. - Temi

[pinhole-discussion] WWPPD
Lots of great ideas and drawings. Since a decision isn't necessary for a few weeks, we should probably just let the IDEAS FLOW in for awhile. My thoughts: Until the Universe knows the date of Pinhole Photography Day as well as they know the date for Valentine's Day, maybe "The Last Sunday in April" should be shown somewhere. Maybe in small print under the Logo. Also, since the final Logo will probably be used in various forms when advertising this event, the final version should possibly be a transparent Gif. It is interesting to see how much this Logo has evolved within just a few days. -Temi

[pinhole-discussion] wppd logo
James, I like the logo but on my PC the center hole does not show clearly. It seems to compete with the colors in the globe itself.Does anyone else find this also. Maybe the globe could be lightened and the "pinhole" in the center colored "black" and then it would show up better. Another thought is that you might want to make the background transparent so that the logo could be used in various places. [pinhole-discussion] Film Developing Time Adjustments
Thanks Larry I will experiment with a few test exposures. Is there a rough guide as to how much shorter development time I should try for certain exposure times. Just some "ballpark" figures to get me started would be helpful. Thanks again, Temi From: "Larry Fratkin" To: Subject: Re: [pinhole-discussion] Film developing time adjustments List-Post: pinhole-discussion@pinhole.com Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 16:29:54 -0800 Reply-To: pinhole-discussion@p at ??? As a rule of thumb I usually develop mine shorter to lower the contrast depending on how long the exposure was. But, like everything else, this is a highly personal choice and often will depend on the subject matter. Many people like the contrasty look of pinhole pictures. Maybe try taking several pictures of the same thing and develop each differently to see what you come up with. Larry -Original Message- From: Temi To: pinhole-discussion@p at ??? [pinhole-discussion] Hello from Temi - A New Subscriber
I was doing some research on pinhole photography and came across your site. I was quite impressed so I subscribed. I am a student and several of us plan to try pinhole photos for the first time this spring semester. I personally hope to try both pinhole photos and using liquid emulsion in the 2001 spring semester. What caught my attention in viewing your discussion page was the scattered location of contributors. "It's a Small, Small, World" jumped into my mind. Thank you James Keller. With the page only being approx. three years old, it must be a hugh success and valuable to persons world wide. My knowledge of pinhole photography is ZERO at this time, BUT thought I would say Hello and comment on your upcoming Swap. Depending on the cutoff date, I may or may not have any photos available. If I do I would be interested in the Swap. Just a few of my thoughts on the Swap: A - With all the modern technology a slide show or album on line would be nice which I believe someone mentioned in one of the discussions. A cover or introductory page with a Map of the World with locator dots for the various members/contributors would be nice. I guess this came to mind since that is what fascinated me when I found your site. B - A page for each member/contributor could include Location, Language, Brief personal info and 1, 2, or 3 images to be clicked for a larger view. And as someone mentioned in the discussion possibly a 'face to put with a name' could be included. C - In regard to actual 'good' prints of the various work -maybe a secure digital high resolution transfer for printing locally would be the least expensive method BUT receiving Snail Mail from around the world may be more meaningful. As a returning student who has seen many changes over the years, I am fasinated by the constantly changing new technology BUT am also interested in various more 'primative' methods. Happy New Year to all. Temi
