Just let me some time, I put my photo here and there, a bit messy, I need to find it out. I once promise to show some of my mezzotint to other members but still don't have time to prepare it. Maybe some of you can try your own special shape zone plate and we post it together later. Zernike
RE: [pinhole-discussion] Re: Zone plates
I doubt that a domestic printer would give good enough coverage or resolution etc but many graphic arts bureaux have high quality imagesetters in-house these days. I've not used them for zone plates but I've found that most will happily output a PostScript file (or other formats) at very reasonable cost. Hello Michele, Sorry I have miss this thread. You are right, I make my ZPs digitally. I am not doing it at home. I must send it to a professional output company. They have high-end equipment to meet the high standard and they charge me in a rather high rate! (because they have to special tune their machine according to our request) If you want to make your own, use the re-photo method. You can try to print a zone plate to a transparent with your print (not matter what is the resolution, use the highest you can) and mount it to your camera and shot. You will got your own special zone plate camera that no one can do the same as yours. I have try star-shape (star instead of circle) zone plate, irregular zone plate, oval-shape zone plate. I take the photo with all this zone plates by guess the exposure time (because it is impossible to find a formula to calculate the f/stop or the exposure time). I can't believe! They all works! The image is poetic (just my opinion :-)) The pinhole world is amazing, just try it and you will always got a big surprise. Enjoy it! Zernike, I'm sure others will agree with me when I say that I'd love to see some of the images you've created with your odd zone plate shapes. Also, just received my Zero Image 4x5 camera. Very elegant camera that is fun and easy to use. Kudos again to you Zernike. Just wish I had ordered the shutter that works with the cable release. Can this be added afterwards? How do you connect it? Colin __ Do You Yahoo!? Find the one for you at Yahoo! Personals http://personals.yahoo.com

I have a CI5000 Polaroid Film Recorder, and if anyone is interested in developing a Photoshop or similar file to print zone plates with varying focal lengths, I would be interested in working on this project. I don't really have the knowledge to develop the file, but I would be able to print them out and share with other pinhole discussion members who would be willing to work on this project. Michele
