Guillermo,
I won't tell you the crazy things I did with my spouse... -:))
But, actually, it's my love affair with photography which helped me through a
devastating period in my life 9 years ago when I was forced to take early
retirement from my job as an economist because of major health problems. This
love affair is still just as strong and became even stronger when I discovered
pinhole. It got me to do some really crazy things as well - including many long
lonely nights out with my camera in pretty bad weather conditions doing night
photography (lens, at the time)...

And the joy experienced when you see the results coming out in the darkroom goes
far beyond the discomfort experienced during the shooting. In fact, that
feeling is there every time you click the shutter, when you "know" that you've
captured a great picture! Alas, it seems that these days the mind is still
strong (and crazy...) but the body just won't follow as far as before... Darn
it...

One of the things I really like about this group -as opposed to other groups
I've been involved with- is the underlying "crazyness" of many of its members
when it comes to experimenting with pinhole photography and breaking the
rules... Each week seems to bring a new crazy idea and this is very stimulating,
indeed! -:))

Perhaps we could start a thread on the most crazy thing which pinhole
photography got us to do...

Best,

I don't care if it is -10 or +25 celsius, I just don't go shopping, I just
don't go to malls.

BTW, -10 celsius are +14 Farenheight.

Guillermo,
The picture mentioned in your article looks like one of the Big Banks' doors in
Toronto. Is that the case?

Hmmm... 19 degrees below freezing (Celsius or Farenheight?) sounds just about
like the kind of weather you would get on a really bad day in Toronto or
similar. Why would anyone want to do 55 minutes exposures in that kind of
weather? I hope that your body was well covered! -:))

Larry,
There is a book(let) call something like "Minimal aperture
photography", from it I took the reciprocity correction I have used with
some success. They appear in the small article I wrote and that you can see
at: http://members.home.net/penate/pinsize.htm

I'm also interested in knowing about paper's reciprocity. Is it anything
like film? I know it's made for longer exposures but I think that just means
the curve is a little further out in time. Does anyone have information on
this?

Hi,

Someone once told me that the ISO P, the one we find with the paper
instructions, is 1/100 of the film ISO. So, using the Ilford paper as an
example, w/o. filter the paper is ISO P 500 giving us aprox. ISO 5 for
film meters. Using filters for multicontrast, the ISO P might be 200 or
100 thus giving us a meter setting of ISO 2 or 1.
If it is true, well I haven't tested yet, but if someone did, I'd love
to hear.

[pinhole-discussion] Recommended Exposures onto Paper

2000-12-27 Thread Bob & Jennifer

Hi,

I am new to the digest and to pinholing. I have successfully made a
nice little super wide PinHolga and am on to a superwide Leonardo
now. I would like to throw some photographic paper into the Leonardo
to do some test exposures and was wondering if anyone has woked out
an ASA equivalent for photographic papers.

I will be using Ilford FB paper.

Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Also, did anyone notice the fantastic pinhole photos in the
September (I think) issue of Aperture mag? This is what brought me
to pinholing.
