I once hung one my abstract Cityscapes images upside at an exhibition and
didn't notice it was upside down until a week after the opening! It looked
okay either way (it was an image of escalators and ceiling lights inside a
building) but I preferred it the proper way.

You know those Japanese people, they are so polity they wouldn't tell you
the image was upside down!

A while back I took a
picture from the turret of a Welsh castle and displayed it upside down -
clouds
on the bottom. It's amazing how many people looked and looked and looked at
the picture, not understanding what they were seeing.

Abstracts should make one think, and taking something real and making an
abstract from it is fun for the artist and the viewer. A while back I took a
picture from the turret of a Welsh castle and displayed it upside down - clouds

the picture, not understanding what they were seeing.

The fact that they looked at it for so long told me that they were thinking. I
feel that this gives the viewer a more pleasant experience than simply seeing
what they've seen in the past.

  diluted 2.5 A : 3B : 5 water makes good negatives for my cyanotypes.

DOH! Never mind my question about the formula, I see you've supplied a link on
your page.

Very nice. What is the formula for the developer?

Thanks -

[pinhole-discussion] cyanotypes and panoramic

2001-07-03 Thread Gordon J. Holtslander
Hi:

I've finally fine tuned my use of CGP ortho film and LC-1 developer to get
negs to make good cyanotype prints.

I'm using CGP for large negatives. I use Dave Soemarko's LC-1 developer
diluted 2.5 A : 3B : 5 water makes good negatives for my cyanotypes.

I've been trying out different papers available here. These were printed
on Stonehenge (sp?) using a classic cyanotype recipie.

I also finished off a 6 hole circular panormic camera. It makes
interesting and perhaps somewhat confusing 360 degree images

See my web page http://cyano.usask.ca/pinhole/ There is a panoramic and
regular cyanotype images.
