Ok, I have "looked" at it now, couldn't find any more places to tweak (or to obfuscate, depending on viewpoint :-) ), and have built a package ready for upload. I'll simply upload as soon as I have done some minimal testing that it works on my machine. So *now* is the time if you want to hold back the release for whatever reason. While waiting for acceptance in NEW queue we can then discuss what I did, and if perhaps some of it should be rolled back for future releases. Ah, I actually looked at calf the night before deciding to join this team, considering to package it (from scratch, I was unaware of above mentioned work in progress). :-) I am brand new in this team, so correct me if I'm wrong, but generally in Debian the term "sponsoring" is inaccurate here: We do teamwork and those in the team being DDs or DMs upload. And it uses CDBS so I'd be happy to dig in and release if I find nothing disturbing at a closer look. I will apply some not-yet-official CDBS plugins and enable semi-automated update of debian/control - please do ask if any of my changes aren't obvious, and complain if you disagree with any of them.
