Ahh the joys of dealing with Windows... What is going to happen with all of this amateur radio software when MS starts monetizing hard all of that stuff? I wish these guys would wake up and move back to where a lot of amateur radio software came from but they will not until it starts hitting them hard in the pocket book. Re: [PLUG] SSD Advice Needed
Look for "pico PSU" for your 12V power supply needs. Like this one: http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-160-XT Also available on Amazon ... Also from alternative sellers. That is how I power standard mini-itx systems since AsRock discontinued their mini-itx DC line two years ago. With this power supply you can power up just about anything from car battery. You could also just get true sinus inverter and power low power computer + network switch + decent access point from ordinary power outlet. If you go the power inverter route - always get the true sinus type, otherwise you will fry your switching PSUs in computer/laptop/etc. Tomas On Thu, May 23, 2019, 01:53 Chuck Hast wrote: > Ahh, field day, yes I can see now exactly what you are looking for. This is not a laptop, but a small 12V computer with a mini-atx (I think) type mainboard. I also just found out it uses an Atom 550 processor. As previously stated, it had a regular 3.5 inch drive, so I'll need an adapter to mount a laptop drive. This will normally run headless once I get the OS installed, so no GUI environment needed. I'm thinking with this, maybe CentOS is overkill. As I said, I only need some basic networking stuff, dhcp, ntp, gpsd, etc. Reviewing my other needs, I'm not sure I will even need file storage. A web server might be handy for a few static pages and ability to pull down some small files that way. All of the help so far has been greatly appreciated, thanks.
