Re: external U.S.robotics fax modem
If you still have the problem of connecting it to a Serial Port you could try an internal fax modem, I found this on tiger direct. https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6598119&csid=_21 Funny thing, I had to submit paperwork recently and get would only use USPS or fax, so i got my 2006 HP laptop which had a built-in modem and was able to send a fax using Google voice. Re: external U.S.robotics fax modem
Well, you know how insurances are. They want to mail me the documents or forms yet they know my email address and doesn't want to send it by email. They have the capability to send me a type of file that would allow me to fill out and sign my name via computer but they won't do that. Plus paperwork from my wheelchair place about repairs. Also from doctors and appointments. Just once someone from my insurance put a letter into my email and sent it to me instead of sending it by mail. With all the technology out there they will want to use fax machines because they are more secure when sending documents they say. A PDF file is an encrypted file and can't be seen for info while in route. But you can't tell them nothing. I know that there is eFax, fax to email, or email to fax. I'm just getting a little pissed that some of the mail my insurance sends me doesn't get to me and lately the mail at times is a little scary wondering if it will get to me or not. So if I want to get my documents from them I will get a fax machine until they smarten up and start using the new technology that is available. I honestly can't afford to pay the online fax service as I'm very low income. All my documents and stuff I get in the mail is scanned into the storage computer so I can pull it up when necessary when I happen to be talking to them on the phone. I know all the technology that's out there as I look forward to the new stuff that comes out. But insurances and other businesses are getting a little behind the 8 ball. Re: external U.S.robotics fax modem
I suppose maybe some industries are still weird like that still and require some sort of fax, but for probably a better chunk of a decade I just edit the PDF, apply a transparent png of my signature I created, and "sign" docs as needed to email back to someone easy enough. Saves on dead trees, and an annoyed me as I have to travel somewhere for a working printer and/or fax, plus quick turn-around for signed docs. What are you doing that requires such dedication to legacy technology. ie faxing? Nothing cheaper than free by not printing or faxing anything, and Master PDF Editor still has a free version that works splendidly that I've used for most or all that past decade. -mb On Thu, Mar 10, 2022 at 4:49 PM Harold Hartley via PLUG-discuss < plug-discuss@lists.phxlinux.org> wrote: > I usually get documents or forms that needs to be done on the computer. There are quite a few API's for faxing documents (some of which are free PSTN gateways) that can be integrated into your code base. For instance if you mangle uploaded documents, or create pdf's or change views via ImageMagik and want to then fax those documents, there are a good number of ways to do this: http://www.interfax.net/en/dev/php You can use any of the online free services to do simple faxing also: http://www.gotfreefax.com/ Or you can setup a Fax Server: http://www.hylafax.org/content/Main_Page (wait for GoogleAnalytics - GROAN) Interestingly enough, the Anonymous Group used to do black fax bombing to Scientology Centers (not that it created any great impact) [and raising the jurisdiction for this crime to the more powerful FCC]: http://youranonnews.tumblr.com/post/6638122274/guide-for-fax-bombing > > > On Thu, May 30, 2013 at 6:21 PM, Lisa Kachold wrote: > >> Michael, >> >> On Thu, May 30, 2013 at 5:29 PM, Michael Havens wrote: >> >>> Is there any service out there that allows for receiving a fax? Re: Receiving a fax
If you have a hard line and a modem you can do it from your computer. If you are not that old and do it all the time eFax works well. Even GoDaddy offers a fax through email service. I do it infrequently enough that I use the UPS Store that I have my PO box with. Re: Receiving a fax
Fed ex usually allows for sending and receiving faxes. I suppose the question would be how much/often do you expect to receive faxes?
