OT: Politics/Ethics: Operation PinWale - Obama Administration Seeks Emergency Control of the Internet

Yes, because "all costs" are defined as "write or phone your senator and
representative". In my book, "all costs" involves murder, mayhem, guns,
armor, and an all out civil war. Be careful about using "all costs" in
any way.

No, I will continue to demand my right to vote in every election and on
every bill. We are a constitutional republic and I tell you now that I
*do not accept* how this country is being run and how the power lies in
the few. You have provided ample examples already of how tyranny will
continue in this government. I will execute the powers that I have. And
the only power *I* possess is my ability to vote.

And the *few* have already oppressed that enough.

However, until I am provided the ability to voice my concerns with a
quantifiable result (called a vote), this country *is broken*. I will
not "call my Senator" because, honestly, he isn't going to listen (I'm
not a Republican and therefore, did not scratch his back during the
election). He can't handle all the calls and make the appointments and
take care of his constituents. Sure, when the Constitution was written,
it was possible for a Senator and Representative to keep up with the
1000 constituents he had to report to...but that is not how it is today,
and it doesn't work anymore.

So, continue to bring forth your call to arms and literally *beg* the
elected official to do your bidding. Kiss that butt of Senator McCain
and polish his shoes and maybe he will hear you out. Take him to lunch,
if you can get on his appointment book, and express your concerns, then
hope and pray that he listened.

And when you find out that all was for naught...that he already made up
his mind long before you came to his office. That you're down a lunch
and the President has the powers (same an granted to him in the Patriot
Act)...when you realize that your Senator didn't even read the bill..and
really didn't care to because he had a golf game to improve..when you
realize that your Senator is *no better* than a direct Democracy, maybe
you'll realize that it's better to have a direct say in the matter and
watch the vote not go your way than beg somebody else to watch the vote
not go your way.

Either way, you may not get what *you* want..but at least in a direct
Democracy, you'll know that your voice was as equal as everybody
else's...and that is saying a lot more than can be said today.

Excellent logic! I vote so its not my fault.

Voting is but one step we can take to make our government understand our
desires and needs.

Just voting is like running a marathon by taking one step.

Everyone has a cellular. Write down your congressman's & reps... to include
everyone who represents your area - city, county, state, fed, on your way to
work call their office. On your way home call their office. If each one of us
made one or two calls a day we would overwhelm them.

Linux Asterisk recorded call via schedule will do that for you?

Simply setup the dial out numbers and recorded speil in the SugarCRM
FreePBX dial patterns.

And in a free country, every single time a useful law is not enforced,
beit federal wage exploits for field engineers, rental abuses
(especially in favor of others disregarded through civil disobedience)
take it to court! If you fail to talk directly about what it wrong to
the right sources, you fail to hold a line.

How many of us work 60 hour weeks on salary, as a 30 hour support
person and 30 hour engineer at a field office, NOC on call 24X7,
driving in on holidays after oncall without pay or working from home?
We all know there are 200 others queued up behind us willing to work
harder, so we do it. But is this healthy? Is this legal?

How many of us endure rental air conditioning beyond 80 degrees in the
summer in Arizona? It's also illegal.

If you disagree with outsourcing to Pakistan and India, don't work for
Intel or Micro$oft.
If you disagree with chicken chemical and animal farming via
antibiotics, don't eat at Churches or KFC, and don't buy from Safeway.

But as a people, do we do this? Do we even know our own power? Our
greatest vote is with our almightly dollar.

Yes, how do we flowchart any course back to the freedom of my father's
era, so lamented by the constitutional libertarians on this list?

Child does not notice they don't want to go to bed at all.

Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And
dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL
the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come
back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll
never take... OUR FREEDOM!

Well, it's all a hologram anyway, isn't it?

We really each and every one of us have the ability to get above it?

Just because they attempt to limit our choices, and run a system in
place to control the masses, doesn't mean it has any ultimate effect
on us - the less than 2% of the population (in intelligence), with the
ability to think creatively and implement solutions.
