[SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimScrobbler - Max Pending option

2005-09-24 Thread iwp

Hi all,

I'm thinking about removing the Maximum Pending configuration property
from the SlimScrobbler config pane. This is the property that allows
you to say, only submit to AudioScrobbler in batches of at least n
songs. I'd like to remove this as I can't actually see why anybody
would need to change it from the default (which is 1, submit every
track as soon as possible) and I suspect it might confuse a new user.

So is anybody actually using this setting? If anyone's actually running
with it set other than the default (and has a real reason for doing so
:) then I'll leave it there.

I'd leave the property available to be configured via the prefrences
file, just take it away from the Plugins web page.

Cheers,

Ian

Not sure who Dan is - Triode is Adrian AFAIK.

It's not just Firewall s/w that can cause problems, Anti-virus s/w has
been known to too. You're not using NOD32 are you? If so you need to
tell it that socketwrapper.exe is not a threat.

Dan - same problem with the listen again streams. My XP (SP2) firewall
is always off. The initial "cache fill" gets to about 18.75% and then
stops. Indeed whatever mplayer feeds (via named pipe?) doesn't seem to
be working.

Does the following name look ok for a pipe?
SW: Created Named Pipe: \\.\pipe\socketwrapper002672

I'm also suspicious of...

...could mean a pipe problem - 10054 seems to confirm this, but I don't
know how to debug it. I guess the pipe is created at run-time so
reinstalling is probably not necessary...

Thanks again. I might have to go for some fresh air.

Doesn't look like there is anything coming out of mplayer. Could you
try one of the listen again streams.

Not sure what: "demux_real: invalid chunksize! (0)" means...

Do you have any firewall type software which could prevent named pipes
working?

Thanks for the fast reply Dan. I've installed lame so that's fixed that

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC...any clues?(XP)

2005-09-24 Thread Triode

Can't comment on the pipe problem. But the two other messages:

To use rtsp->mp3 you need lame.exe installed in the same directory as
other binaries (flac.exe etc) - I think this is C:\Program
File\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

The "SW: Transfer stalled" means that socketwrapper is not getting any
data from mplayer. Try editing the slimserver-convert.conf file to
remove the "-really-quiet" bit as this should mean mplayer gives more
error messages. You do have a mingw32 compile of mplayer don't you?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Slimscrobbler with multiple artists

2005-09-24 Thread NigelMSB

Perhaps this isn't the technically correct option but couldn't
Slimscrobbler just take both (or all, if there are more than 2) artists
and concatenate them like the Slimserver Default skin and SB2 client
interface do already for the track information?

For example, if I use Browse Albums in the Slimserver web interface
(Default skin) or from the SB2 to find the Massive Attack one, I get "I
Against I (Single) by Massive Attack, Mos Def" - the artists are
presented in a comma delimited list. If you drill down to look at the
track, rather than the album, you get "I Against I from I Against I
(Single) by Massive Attack & Mos Def".

So, if "Massive Attack & Mos Def" is submitted this is the same as if
multiple artists were not configured.

I just tested with 3 artists and for the album I get "I Against I
(Single)TestA by Massive Attack, Mos Def, TestA" and the track "I
Against I from I Against I (Single)TestA by Massive Attack & Mos Def &
TestA". I'd prefer if Slimserver made this "I Against I from I Against
I (Single)TestA by Massive Attack, Mos Def & TestA" but that's just a
preference.

Just an idea. It sounds like MusicBrainz is the way forward anyway.
