[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: LastFM not functioning?

2006-02-15 Thread dropbear

I had the same problem - installed slimscrobbler and LastFM plugins and
I was seeing my music appear on lastfm.com, but I couldn't play any
stations from slimserver.

So, I looked into the slimserver.conf file for the Lastfm settings, and
found that the seting 'plugin_lastfm_usescrobbler' had a value of 0. I
change the value to 1, restarted the server and it all worked.

RE: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: LastFM not functioning?

2006-02-15 Thread Craig, James (IT)
You can actually change that from the LastFM plugin settings page!
It determines whether you want to provide a LastFM login for the plugin
or get it to use the Scrobbler one.
(because I no longer use SlimScrobbler)
I thought it was supposed to set that automatically if you have
SlimScrobbler installed before LastFM but maybe not...

Anyway, if that's the problem you (again, should?) see a 'failed login'
message rather than the more generic error.

On wake means use of the remote.

I'm not aware of any way to display the clock as well as the now-playing

Maybe an extra feature for the infamous Music Info screensaver...?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] See the clock instead of the small spectrum in Now Playing?

2006-02-15 Thread Michael Herger

Hello. When playing music, I am no longer presented with the current
clock time.

Did it show before? Press the Now playing button several times until you
get the display mode you want.

Is there a plugin that modifies the Now Playing display
options, to allow the current time rather than the small spectrum that
I have currently? Thanks.

There's a plugin which does a lot more than the Now Playing screensaver:

http://www.herger.net/MusicInfoSCR

But the spectrum is independant of the screensaver. You can change it as
described above (or through the web interface, Player settings).

Also, can someone explain Now Playing (jump back on wake) vs. Now
Playing?

With the standard Now Playing screensaver you'll stay in the same area
as if you hit the Now playing button. It's where you have the current
playlist.

The ...jump back option allows you to continue where the screensaver
kicked in. Let's say you were browsing some artists, started playback of
one you're interested in. After 30 seconds the screensaver kicks in.

Now, with the default Now playing you'd have to manually return to the
artist list, because you landed in the current playlist. The ...jump
back will bring you back to the artist list, so you can immediately
select another artist.

Not quite sure what the jumping is about. All I noticed was
that the jump back one didn't seem to do a very good job of keeping the
song title presented. Is on wake the end of every song or the end of
the playlist (I'd expect the latter). Thanks again.

On wake is when you hit any button on the remote control, when you're
waking up the screensaver.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: See the clock instead of the small spectrum in Now Playing?

2006-02-15 Thread cbemoore

In the player settings, you can select a screensaver which will
automatically kick in 30 seconds after the last remote keypress. This
will happen regardless of whether music is playing.

There are a number of standard screensavers that come preinstalled with
SlimServer, including a Clock screensaver that does exactly what you
want.

Normally, if a screensaver is being displayed and you press a key, the
screen will go back to whichever screen was previously displayed.
However, the Now Playing screensaver doesn't do this - instead, it
stays on the Now Playing screen when you exit the screensaver. If you
want to go back to the previous screen when you exit the screensaver,
you should select the Now Playing (jump back on wake) screensaver
instead.

Hope this helps
Chris

Re-reading your post, it looks like you want to have the track info
displayed, but with a small clock on the screen as well.

This isn't supported in the standard Slimserver release, but you might
want to try the SuperDateTime plugin, which lets you customise the
display to suit your needs.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Having problem installing my first plug-in

2006-02-15 Thread NJRonbo

Just got my Squeezebox today.

Installation went perfectly. I installed Slimserver
and the Squeezebox instantly connected to my network.

I wanted to install a highly recommended plug-in called
SUPER DATE TIME.

It can be found here:

http://www.abovethelaw.com/squeeze/

Installation was easy. I just installed the folder
into my SLIMDESIGN PLUG-INS directory.

I go to the slimdesign configuration webpage for
my device.

As instructed I go to SERVER SETTINGS-PLUGINS and
I see SUPER DATE TIME checked under the list of
available plugins. So far, so good.

The problem?

First, there is no way to configure my weather, stocks,
scores, etc.

Second, going to PLAYER SETTINGS -MENUS the SUPER DATE
TIME isn't listed. There isn't even a selection for it
under screensaver selection.

I even restarted both my Squeezebox and Web configuration
browser in hopes it would appear. It did not.

Anyone want to give me a hand? Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Having problem installing my first plug-in

2006-02-15 Thread GoCubs

If SuperDateTime screensaver is listed and checked from the Server
Settings - Plugins page, you should be good to go. The
stocks/weather/etc is actually set at the server (not player) level.
These settings can be found on the same Server Settings - Plugins page
as the checkbox was. All you have to do is scroll down and you'll see
them there!

Now, to choose to have the screen saver displayed on a particular
player when it is powered off, go to the Player Settings page for the
particular player. From the main player settings page there will be an
option for screensavers. From here select SuperDateTime for when the
player is turned off.

Hopefully this makes sense, good luck!

I don't use it with softsqueeze, and I don't test it daily even on hardware.

Besides, it is only a different UI. It only calls a server function
to skip to another time index. This is slightly different than the
method used fo ffwd, but probably not by much from the perspective of
slimproto or the player itself.

2006-02-15 Thread dwhitby

Hi

I've been following this thread as I've had identical problems -
AlienBBC installed fine, sound from podcasts, Virgin Radio etc. but NO
sound from streaming BBC stations.

When I saw the posts about possible conflicts with Zone Alarm I thought
'Thats IT!! I've had it with Zone Alarm!'. I've had problems with other
software that often seem to lead back to ZA.

Anyway, uninstalled ZA, downloaded and installed Kerio Firewall
(free!), tried AlienBBC on softsqueeze and Hey Presto! All BBC channels
now streaming almost instantly. Took less than 10 minutes.

Link for Kerio is here
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm

It's free, as easy or as detailed as you want it to be (like ZA) but
has some nice features, like showing which sockets and connections EACH
program has, as well as the upload/download rates for each of these. If
you choose the advanced setting (to permit or deny things yourself)
you have to allow socketwrapper, mplayer and FLAC as each is launched
the first time you run AlienBBC.

Do yourself a favour - uninstall ZA and enjoy streaming heaven!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] More Last.FM problems

2006-02-15 Thread jmpage2

Thanks for the help that I have recieved so far on getting Last.FM to

I've gotten to the point where I can add stations into Last.FM under
the options in the Slimserver internet radio web-page (honestly a
little readme distributed with the Last.FM plugin itself would really
help make this easier for folks to know what was going on and what the
connection was between slimscrobbler and last.fm).

Playing music with Last.FM works fine. My primary station that is set
up is group/SlimScrobbler. I also have the following channels
programmed;

artist/artistname/similarartists
user/jmpage2

When I try to navigate within Last.FM and select one of these other
stations I get a message that says error connecting to LastFM!!Check
your network settings. I don't understand this because all other
network connectivity from the squeezebox seems to work just fine.

Additionally I have found the following problem. If I navigate into
the Last.FM menu and try to utilize the skip/love/ban functions it will
cause Slimserver to crash out.

Slim shows the following upon it's death;

Undefined subroutine Slim::Utils::Misc::escape called at
/usr/local/slimserver//Plugins/LastFM/Plugin.pm line 883.

Can anyone help with this? I'm running the latest 6.2 nightly as well
as the latest versions of Last.FM and Scrobbler on a Linux box.
