Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC has never worked in any versions I have had.

2007-10-03 Thread danco

You haven't reported whether or not mplayer itself is working.

It looks as though AlienBBC is installed ok, as the menus appear.

There can be issues with mplayer, or the interaction of AlienBBC and
mplayer.

I think the Mac instructions still give advice about testing mplayer,
though I'm not sure if they are up-to-date.

2007-10-03 Thread bpa

Danco,
The top level menus appear (which are parts ofthe plugin) but the next
level which are fetched from BBC do not appear and there are no RTSP
entries in ServSer Setting/Filetypes. This means there is a problem
with plugin installation.

Once menus are fixed - then test mplayer.

Rather than refreshing the page, try resizing it (from max to sized and
back). This seems to force the save button to appear and should allow
you to save, even in the new Default skin. As James says, this seems
to be an SC issue not a Last.fm plugin one, I have seen a similar issue
on other setting pages (again the Default pages). It's easier to switch
to classic though!

I haven't tested the mplayer. How do I do that?

I'm not sure sure where the custom files should go in OSX but put a copy
in the Plugin folder as it was intended that each plugin should have
their own custom-convert.conf and custon-type.conf file. Then restart
and check for RTSP entries in Server Setting/Filetypes.

I chose the health Plugin because I thought it would be present -
obviously not for OSX. Compare onwership and permissions of Alien with
the other plugins you have that work.

Great - must have missed that post.

BBC RealAudio is about 40kbps or 48kbps. Listen Again are sometime
slightly better quality than live streams.

The BBC have standards that require at a minimum users with a slow
(i.e. dialup) connection can listen to any audio.

The BBC have been testing better quality streams but I think they may
be only available to the UK only.

The publicly availble RealAudio and WMA streams are the roughly the same
quality worse than FM and DABS.

The better quality streams were only a pilot technology trial for a
closed group of users.

I suspect that once the BBC gets the Video on demand (iPlayer) sorted
better quality audio may follow for the UK as the iPlayer service
required a tightly enforced UK only service. The beginning of this may
be the WMA streams for R1-R4 which are UK only.

Wl, I did fix a bug last night that was corrupting the passwords
when you changed any other settings, so it's not impossible that I
introduced a new one.
Although I did test changing my password and other settings
independently, I never tried entering a new login or starting from
scratch.

You could try checking the logs, the plugin prints out all of the saved
settings each time the web page is displayed.
There could be a clue there...

Yes. Have foobar scan your library, then open the album list, select
all music,, right click, select scan selection as multiple albums.
Foobar will write both track gain and album gain tags to the files.

Yes. Have foobar scan your library, then open the album list, select
all music,, right click, select scan selection as multiple albums.
Foobar will write both track gain and album gain tags to the files.

Nice!! will do this someday soon :) thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.59 (windows frontend forslimserver)

Doesn't Moose work correctly in Windows 2000?
I have attached a screenshot of it running on my Windows 2000 SP4 with
.NET 2.0 and 1.1. I started with only 2.0, and installed 1.1 later to
see if it became better, but it did not.
 What is wrong?

Doesn't look good.. Not sure I've ever tried it on 2000 - I guess the
list control
implementation is different to XP's.. I'll give it a go under Virtual
PC and see
if I can tweak it into shape.

Okay, I cleared my java temporary internet files (different than browser
temp files, this is found in the java control panel).

All works fine now.
