You haven't reported whether or not mplayer itself is working. It looks as though AlienBBC is installed ok, as the menus appear. There can be issues with mplayer, or the interaction of AlienBBC and mplayer. I think the Mac instructions still give advice about testing mplayer, though I'm not sure if they are up-to-date. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38934 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Danco, The top level menus appear (which are parts ofthe plugin) but the next level which are fetched from BBC do not appear and there are no RTSP entries in ServSer Setting/Filetypes. This means there is a problem with plugin installation. Once menus are fixed - then test mplayer. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38934 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

I'm not sure sure where the custom files should go in OSX but put a copy in the Plugin folder as it was intended that each plugin should have their own custom-convert.conf and custon-type.conf file. Then restart and check for RTSP entries in Server Setting/Filetypes. I chose the health Plugin because I thought it would be present - obviously not for OSX. Great - must have missed that post. BBC RealAudio is about 40kbps or 48kbps. Listen Again are sometime slightly better quality than live streams. The BBC have standards that require at a minimum users with a slow (i.e. dialup) connection can listen to any audio. The BBC have been testing better quality streams but I think they may be only available to the UK only. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38934 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC has never worked in any versions I have had.
The publicly availble RealAudio and WMA streams are the roughly the same quality worse than FM and DABS. The better quality streams were only a pilot technology trial for a closed group of users. I suspect that once the BBC gets the Video on demand (iPlayer) sorted better quality audio may follow for the UK as the iPlayer service required a tightly enforced UK only service. The beginning of this may be the WMA streams for R1-R4 which are UK only. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38934 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
