[SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose 0.61 - only very few covers are shown

2007-12-24 Thread Dirk
Hello!

just like squeezebox/slimserver I am very thrilled by Moose. This is the
thing I have been waiting for.

The only problem I have is that covers are not shown in cover browser:
Only after double clicking an album (shown by the default album icon) it
is (played an) fetched from the Internet and displayed. From now on this
cover is show correctly in the cover browser.

1. (How) can I fetch all covers at once?
2. (How) can I make moose store fetched covers in the directory
structure to enable slimserver to access them?

The location of th eplugin directory is:
/raid/data/module/SLIMSERVER/slimserver/Plugins

You will need the SYSuser and SSHD modules installed and a SSH client
to do the uploading of the files to the server.
Putty or SSH secure Shell which I use. These are free.

Hi all,

I'm new, and try to install the weather-time plugin on my Squeezbox.

Created a share on the N5200 with the music, and all is working fine.

Now the weather time give me some trouble.
In the description of the site it is mentioned to put the files (.pm)
in the plugin directory of the slimserver.

I have no Idea where to find this directory.

any help is apreciated.

thanks in advance,
Cheers

I took your advice and extracted the new version of your program into
SC 7.0 build 12/24/07 but the directory you have on your download page
does not exist any longer so I assume "C:\Program
Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins" is where to place it now. After
doing that I can see the Sirius radio choice under Extras but there is
not anyway that I can find to adjust the settings. The "settings"
button choice that some of the other plugin's have is not there just a
"disable" button. Is there a procedure to activate it in SC 7 that I am
not aware of? Thanks for your help.

Hey Chad-

No problem on the help. If you enjoy the plugin please follow one of

wmadec is normally included with a SlimServer installation so I'm not

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How about flickering candle(s) screen saver

2007-12-24 Thread GoCubs

Given that the screen is more horizontal a fireplace screensaver would
probably work better. For quick refreshes this would probably have to
be supported in the firmware. The size of fire could probably be
influenced by the type of music you're playing. The display also seems
to be capable of having different pixel shades in use at the same time
as the spectrum analyzer screensaver seems to have multiple shades.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC: mplayer on the Mac

2007-12-24 Thread danco

I have just tried which and whereis.

whereis does not seem to do anything on my Mac.

which does work, but I am not quite sure how to deal with the space in
the application name.

None of

which Mplayer\ OSX
which Mplayer\ OSX.app

or similar things with quotes provide the right item.

Interestingly, which Mplayer finds mplayer (note the upper case and
lower case respectively) in /usr/local/bin

I notice that /usr/local/bin is on my PATH. It certainly was not when I
first installed mplayer a long time ago. I don't know if Apple has
changed things or if I made a change that has persisted through
upgrades (and even change of computer).

I put a note in the Developer forum about some changes to the way the
Mac uses Unix. I don't know any of the details, just referenced
something I had read, and I doubt if this is relevant, but thought I
ought to mention it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC default station list and adding to favourites

2007-12-24 Thread ModelCitizen

Thanks for the great explanation bpa.
It looks like there may still seems a reasonble amount of work to do in
SC7. I've just posted what now appears to be a related subject about the
way favourites work.

My vote (as always) is for drag and drop menu ordering! Not being able
to move items up and down levels is definitely a bad thing for me with
respect to AlienBBC though.

I do think there should definitely be some way of visually
differentiating between an menu item which takes you to a sub menu and
one which plays a station without having to put your cursor over it to
see if the play/add/add to favourites icons appear.

I can't find any way in the AlienBBC settings to move items up and down
the menu listing. The only way I can find to do it is to delete all the
items and then add them back in the required order one by one.

I'll check out the search facilkty. It sounds as though ti will be
really useful... especaily for the rather convoluted way the BBC order
their programs. I'd have though by now that they would be offering a
simple XML file for use with devices like SlimCenter.

I'd better get on with Christmas now. Have a good one!.

I'm pleased to report that following Danco's instruction and extracting

In answer to the OP - yes the quoted file works with AlienBBc 1.06,
SS6.5.5 and OS 10.5.1 on an Intel mac. Perhaps point 3 in Daniel
Cohen's instructions at
http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/installation.html#mac could be
appended along the lines of:

For Intel Macs:
a)Download MPlayer OS X 1.0rc1 from
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html and install it.

b) Open the applications folder using finder, right-click on the
mplayer OSX icon and select show package contents. Open
Contents/Resources/External_Binaries and find the file "mplayer_intel",
right-click and show package contents. Open Contents/MacOS and copy the
file "mplayer".

c) In the finder window use the go to folder(shift-cmd-g) command and
type /usr/local/bin. Paste the "mplayer" file here

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC default station list and adding to favourites

2007-12-24 Thread bpa

To get Feedback like this is one of the reason for a beta release.

The AlienBBC was changed to the opml based menu as used in the rest of
SC - this greatly simplified the AlienBBC code but some compromises
such as loss of "headers". Also any changes to menu display would have
to be made in SC and not in AlienBBC. Neil has noted some of these
formatting issues and I think they will be addressed but they need
changes in SC and so need discussion & agreement.

When the initial conversion to new opml format was made, all addon were
enabled. If you don't want an entry - delete unwanted using the AlienBBC
settings - "edit Menu". I think something better is needed but up to
now there have been no comments.

The menu are still a screen scrape but IIRC the ordering is mainly
controlled by the entries in the default.opml and the addons opml
files. After initial startup all menu are in alienbbc.opml - you can
reorder using AlienBBC Setting "Edit Menu" or just a text editor on the
file.

Another difference from 6.5. is that you cannot move menu items up a
level. I think this is because the editing code is shared with SC.
Again I think it is something that needs to be looked into but SC 7.0
UI was changing all the time - it was better to wait until it settled
down especially as there are still bugs in the critical code (try
clicking on the breadcrumb trail while edit the menu).

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC default station list and adding to favourites

2007-12-24 Thread ModelCitizen

Does the list of Alien BBC stations in the latest CS7 beta work
correctly? I though I might have messed mine up but I've reinstalled
and used the Reset to Defaults facility but the station menu still
seems a bit odd. For instance the BBC Radio item is last in the menu.
Above this item this there are loads of none BBC stations listed
including Italian, Spanish and German stations.

The BBC Listen Again item is buried within the BBC Radio submenu.

There is an item called ""BBC What On Radio" in the main menu. Is there
a title a typo?

If this is how it is, I'd like to be able to edit the menus and sub
menus myself. However, using the web page interface I can just about
edit indivudual entries but I can't seem to move them up or down the
menu item listings.

I remember when AlienBBC was first produced the menu was arrived at via
a screen scrape of the BBC web page. Is this still the case or is it
possible for me to directly edit a text file to arrange the menus
exactly as I'd like? It seems impossible to use the current menu edit
function to arrange them sensibll and using it sometimes gets
unexpected results.

I do realise I am using a beta version! :-)

Thanks

MC
