Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeCenter 7.0 beta versions of my plugins

2008-05-02 Thread alexg

I prefer searching by band rather than artist particulary to speed
things up. I set up the Band menu and it finds the mp3s great, but
misses the wmas.

I use the Custom Tag choice in the Custom Scan plugin to get the
ALBUMARTIST,BAND tags.

I see wmas fine in the Artist menu.

Thanks again Erland for these wonderful plugins.

Sounds like a bug.
Does Music IP mixes work on the track level in the standard browse

Starting with 7.0.1 (currently in beta), SqueezeCenter and

I've got it working fine, but FYI it only works if you've paid for the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC installation problem

2008-05-02 Thread bpa

Assuming the contents of all the OPML files were read ok - then the
problem is in the writing the opml file. AlienBBC uses common opml
writing code which is part of Favorites.

Can you repeat the logs with the addition setting to INFO the favorites
logging. This should give logs on the activity of writing the opml
file.

Can you also check if you can create entries in Favorites and that the
entries are saved (i.e. still available after SC restart). If
Favorites doesn't work - then the issue might be access to the
directory which is defined for temporary files.

The point about Execute on Demand is that one can navigate to it using
the remote Right and UP/Down buttons, and then press Play to execute.
And the scripts for all other events remain unchanged. Before we had
this option, the only way to manually execute a script was to select it
in one of the other options and press Play, and that would change what
happened automatically on that option. (Hope that's clear.)

You need to set up a Custom.map file in the IR folder (wherever that
lives - depends on the OS) to get a remote key to execute the script.

I chose the Sleep button, and my Custom.map reads

[common]
sleep = modefunction_Plugins::ExecuteScript::Plugin->execute_on_demand

I would guess that rather than changing the plugin to allow for On
Sleep, it would be easier to change the script do that the main script
did not run until a timer had occurred.

Does the script you have created work when it is invoked directly?

I've been trying to do something similar.

I've created a script, which I have in the correct folder - I can attempt to

However, when I pick the script and press Apply, it refreshes and says "(none)".

I'm seeing a load of missing string messages in the log, but nothing else. The

KDF - are there any instructions for your plugin? I'm wondering if the Execute
On Demand setting means that there is some remote key bound to execute this
script (or do I have to configure a custop map button to invoke this?).

I'd like to extend the plugin to include an "On Sleep" event option, if
SqueezeCenter provides such an event. i.e. when sleep time hits 0, it would
invoke the script. And also if sleep.hold is pressed to manually invoke the On
Sleep event.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC installation problem

2008-05-02 Thread bpa

Most of the installations looks OK - and the fact that streams play -
means that prtoblem is only with the menus.

The alienbbc.opml file is generated from the file
Alien/Default/default.opml and other opml files in the Addons
directory.

The fact that the opml files from both Addons or Default makes me think
the permissions or ownership on directories or files is the problem.
Double check the permissions. Permissions such as "x" on directories
are necessary as AlienBBC needs to get info on opml files.

Hi - thanks for the suggestions.

1. Are there enabled RTSP entries in Setting/Advanced/Filetypes

yes: flac = mplayer.sh/flac, mp3 = disabled, wav = mplayer.sh
(look OK to me!)

2. Can you get a display from Settings/Plugins/AlienBBC/settings ?

yes - looks OK

3. If there are enabled types in 1. then try pasting the following URL
into Tune-in and click play.
rtsp://rmlive.bbc.co.uk/bbc-rbs/rmlive/ev7/live24/radio4/live/r4_dsat_g2.ra

plays OK

To get a better log of startup and operation of AlienBBC do the
following:

1. In Setting/Advanced/Logging - Check the box "Save logging settings
..."
2. Set Logging to : INFO for server, INFO for server.plugins and to
DEBUG to plugin.alienbbc
3. Stop SC and clear server log
4. Start SC
5. Access AlienBBC say Radio 4 A-Z

done (other than step 5 which fails with same error) - logfile attached

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime Issue - *(*) No Data

I was having this issue as well & I think I may have solved the problem.
Try the following & let me know if this works for you:

Download & run Softsqueeze following the directions on this page:
http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/download.html.

You'll want to double-click on the Softsqueeze.jar file to load it.
Make sure it's running & not playing any music before you try any of
the following.

Next, go to Squeezecenter Settings -> Players and select Softsqueeze as
the player you want to work with.
Next, select Basic Settings if it's not already selected.
Scroll down & find the settings for Screensaver when playing,
Screensaver when stopped & Screensaver when off. Change all these to
SuperDateTime Screensaver.
Go back to Softsqueeze & wait until the weather information displays on
Softsqueeze.
Bring SuperDateTime up on your duet controller & see if the information
isn't there.

Good luck.

I've been running MusicMagic on my FreeBSD 7.0 server from early Feb
2008. I downloaded the linux version and run it under linux mode
(compat linux).

It's possible that FreeNAS doesn't have linux support - if has CLI
access try 'pkg_info | grep linux' if you have it then something like
"linux_base-fc-4_10 Base set of packages needed in Linux mode (for
i386/amd64)" will result. Alternately seeing 'linux.ko' listed as the
result of the 'kldstat' command.

I also recall that it was working under FreeBSD 6.1 and 6.2.

There is a chapter in the FreeBSD Handbook that describes Linux Binary
Compatibility -
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/handbook/linuxemu.html

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC installation problem

2008-05-02 Thread ianc

With the release of 8.04 the other day I took the opportunity to migrate
my server from ClarkConnect to Mythbuntu and I'm still working through a
few issues, one of which is with AlienBBC:

Background:
- Squeezecenter (7.0 - 17793 - Debian - EN – utf8) installed using
apt-get after adding 'http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main' to
'sources.list'.
- Squeezecenter runs fine (user = squeezecenter)
- AlienBBC (alienbbc-linux-v2.00_7.0) extracted into
'/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins'.

AlienBBC appears in the squeezecenter menu, but when I click on it I
get:

'There was an error loading the remote feed for Alien BBC: (Unable to
open file '/media/music/playlists/alienbbc.opml')'

The log file (os.files, os.files & plugin.alienbbc all set to 'debug')
is attached.

It's creating '/media/music/playlists/alienbbc.opml' file as a
zero-length file which doesn't get filled with anything (should this
happen round about 'Plugins::Alien::Settings::importNewMenuFiles (82)
searching for new menu files to import'?).

My guess is that the error message appears because the file is empty
rather than due to permissions, since it succeeded in creating it in
the first place. ...but of course I could be entirely wrong.

I don't think it's an internet connectivity issue – I can listen fine
via (for example) the BBC Radio 4 link under 'Staff Pick' (wms
stream?).

I've run out of ideas – any suggestions?

Ian

2008-05-02 Thread bpa

Yes - squeezenetwork is basically a broker - it sets up connections
between and SB and a broadcaster. Once setup SN onlyhas to send the
display data which is relatively a small amount of data and not very
often (probably a screen every sec or 0.5 sec) and it is not time
critical - there is no stuttering if screen update is late.

To transcode require requires significant processing but then SN also
needs to be become broadcaster so it will need large network bandwidth
for audio and a banks of more powerful servers to transcode and server
the audio. Furthermore there may be the more difficult possible issue
of copyright/unlicensed use of data as transcoding modifies the data
stream by a 3rd party commercial entity and not by the end user.
