[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC Buffering error
Hi I have a problem playing live streams or listen again from the BBC channels. Using Alien BBC I see the menu items that I expect and I can play the Virgin channels. Playing any of the BBC content however results in Checking Stream being shown on the SB display. [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime plugin stops working
Hi, this is probably related to my recent SqueezeCenter 7.2 update (Ubuntu 8.04): Every now and then SuperDateTime stops updating, only showing the current date and time and the generic weather.com icon. [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC:- I can now get Radio5Live Live!
OK, I'll say at the outset that I'm in the UK so I should be able to get this station anyway but it just wouldn't stream in Squeezecentre I'm using * Squeezecenter 7.2 - 22900 and AlienBBC plugin v2.2b1-7.1_7.2* Using the Internet Radio-AlienBBC-BBC iPlayer Radio-Live Streams path I can now stream just about all but no Radio 5 Live (Which displays as Radio 5 Live Live in the Listings). The URL is currently set as:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/surestream.ram and will play correctly on my PC, launching MediaPlayer to play the stream. I've solved this by adding a different url I found in the source code of the BBC5Live streaming page. The Windows media stream as opposed to the RealAudio stream. _*How_to_get_BBC5Live_in_AlienBBC*_ In Squeezecenter:- Click *Settings* Choose the *Plugins* Tab Click *Settings* next to the AlienBBC Plugin Listing (v2.2b1-7.1_7.2 in my case) Click *Edit Menu* Scroll to the Bottom Click *New Entry* Name: *R5Live* (or Whatever you want to call it) URL: *http://bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/live.asx* Click *Save* Then *Apply* Worked for me, I hope this helps someone else. Right, got it working. Turns out that I was being bitten by the permissions bug (mplayer.sh was not executable by the squeezecenter user), and also by my Airport Extreme. As mentioned in another thread, this stuffs up port 554 unless you go into the Airport manual settings and tell it to allow Quicktime media server as a protocol. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC suggestions - better iPlayer Listen Again feeds and bitrates
Hi, I've been using Alien BBC for years now - good work - it's really useful! I've have developed the get_iplayer perl software (used for downloading BBC iPlayer programmes) which also does very similar things to Alien. Firstly, I've noticed that there is a bit of screen scraping in the Alient code (e.g. Plugins/Alien/Parsers/iPlayerParser.pm ) that possibly could be avoided: After some research in to BBC feeds I found that it is possible to get an entire list of programmes for a radio channel using the following XML feed from the BBC: http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/channel/list/limit/400 Where channel is one of: bbc_1xtra, bbc_radio_one, bbc_radio_two, bbc_radio_three, bbc_radio_four, bbc_radio_five_live, bbc_radio_five_live_sports_extra, bbc_6music, bbc_7, bbc_asian_network, bbc_radio_foyle, bbc_radio_scotland, bbc_radio_ulster, bbc_radio_wales, or bbc_world_service. These feeds are used by the iPlayer web site and I have just tweaked them a little to give a full channel listing. Secondly, for podcasts, it is possible to get a full list of podcasts from either of the following (saves having to specify a list of channels in the Alien perl code): OPML: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/opml/bbc_podcast_opml.xml XML: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/ppg.xml Thirdly, it has recently (this week) been discovered that you can now download/stream the BBC listen again stereo content in MP3 streams up to 192kbps (many are 128kbps and a few in 80kbps/mono). This is *significantly better* than the 64kbps real audio streams we've been limited to in the past. The method used for this simulates an iPhone but is really not that difficult to implement in perl. I have already coded this in perl for get_iplayer and it works like a dream :-) I've documented the Mp3 BBC listen again radio download method on the Beebhack wiki for those people who may want to look at this: http://beebhack.wikia.com/wiki/IPlayer_Radio#iPlayer_MP3_Radio_Streams My (bad perl code but lots of comments) get_iplayer software which has implemented this can be found at http://linuxcentre.net - Phil Lewis -- linuxcentre linuxcentre's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20244 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53171 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC suggestions - better iPlayer Listen Again feeds and bitrates
The latest AlienBBC has both a screen scraping and an XML based menus. The user can choose which one to use. Currently, screen scraping has some advantages such as genres and schedules and there seems to be fewer programs missing compared to XML menus. The screen scraping version will be dropped as soon as BBC has their XML inteface complete. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53171 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

The 5Live problem is only for UK only users - there is something about the URL which causes problem. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeSlave is a very low footprint player. However it's about as basic as it gets, with no display the only way to tell it what to play is with the browser, or squeezeplay if you are playing with the beta. I cant seem to make it sync either it just goes mental causing SC7.2 to lockup and generally be unhelpful. If the same version of mplayer wass already working - then concentrate your efforts port 554. Port 554 is used by RealAudio between your SC and BBC. So either SC or router may be be blocking. Right now SoftSqueeze is your best bet. There is a compiled version of SqueezePlay in some of the 7.3 nightly builds. Right now it doesn't include audio playback, just the same Jive interface as the Controller. There is however a lot of progress being made on SqueezePlay at the moment. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom browse missing feature?
One thing I miss on the controller is the ability to browse through music folders but sorted on date with the newest listed first. This works better for me then the build in New Music folder but I haven't found this feature in Custom browse or is there another way to do this? As far as I know there is no way to accomplish this either with or without Custom Browse. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC suggestions - better iPlayer Listen Again feeds and bitrates
@bpa, Yes, the non-AOD stations aren't in iPlayer yet. I think the BBC are finding the AOD-iPlayer migration a bit time consuming from the posts on the BBC Radio Labs blogs. The iPhone Listen again streams are indeed UK only :-| Hopefully this may change over time. Not sure why they would need to limit the MP3 Radio progs as such compared to the RealAudio ones. @Triode, Note that the BBC cookie white-listing based on those BBC web bugs in my code is no longer required. [SlimDevices: Plugins] songloop sc7.2 and transporter
I've recently tried songloop and bookmark plugins with sc7.2 release on transporter and didn't have much success. Songloop would be an excellent tool as I am a musician and sometimes work on a part of a song repeatedly - in the past using my PC and soundforge or similar. songloop doesn't appear to work as it cannot be set correctly - and whatever the length of loop you set - it appears to just loop about 1 second of the song. Once started - it needed sc to be restarted to recover. I haven't tried it on the duets yet - though I know it doesn't work on softsqueeze as softsqueeze itself just won't scan through a flac song. Has anyone else used this with success on sc7.2 and transporter - am I having finger trouble here? [SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomScan: iTunes Statistics Import
I tried to import iTunes (v8) Statistics back into SqueezeCenter 7.3, but it doesn't look like any ratings have been imported. I believe this used to work, but it's been some time since I last tried; there have been many changes to my environment since my last attempt. I turned plugins.customscan logging up to debug level, and searched for the name of an album and a song that I recently set ratings for in iTunes. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Command Line Interface to players for Brightness?
I run SqueezeCenter on my home Linux file server. I was wondering if there are any examples of command line scripts that can control my players (I have a SB2, SB3 Qty 2, and a Boom).
