[SlimDevices: Plugins] Can 'alarm' functionality be extended via plugin?

2008-12-02 Thread twynne

I've recently added a couple of Boom's to the current family (2 SB3's)
and plan to use one of them as an alarm clock. This made me think it
would be nice to be able to display additional information when the
alarm is triggered - for example the weather forecast for the day in my
city, maybe an update on public transport status (for London this is
freely available on the web and used in current iPhone apps).

I'm sure this could be done in a screensaver, but it would be really
nice to just show it for a configurable period of time when the alarm
activates. Does anyone know if this is achievable with the current
SC?

Thanks,

Tom

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2008-12-02 Thread sderuiter

Hi,

Is there a possibility that SuperDateTime 5.8.1 on SqueezeCenter 7.2.1
doesn't adhere to the date and time settings in the basic player
settings? I've set my time setting to mm.hh (24), in order to show the
time without am/pm. The regular DateTime screensaver does show the
correct timeformat, however SuperDateTime (using parameter %1) doesn't
(still f.e. 12:45 PM).

Thanks.

Yes, this is an option in the plugin's settings. The plugin will set
the Receiver off if you want. (The Controller does not go off, it

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem with MusicIP and CustomScan

2008-12-02 Thread exile

so my musicip is running quite wonderfully. my mixes are consistently
working as expected and my library is all as it should be. however, I
have one little problem. My slimserver trackstat info doesn't update
dynamically to my musicip library.

In my custom scan settings I have musicip set to continuously update
from slimserver trackstat info. But currently the only way to get
updated info in musicip is to do an export of my trackstat info to
musicip.

i changed my musicip port to 10003 from 10002 just to see if that would
help and nothing changed. when I check the API connection in musicip all
seems ok. there is a connection between the services. also, when I
export my trackstat info it all seems to export fine.

any ideas on a simple thing to check? do I need to go down the debug
route?

OK, I'll do this after I've had a chance to look at the current CLI

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunesUpdate error

2008-12-02 Thread barcar

I've fixed this but thought I would document in case it's of use to
others.

The issue seems to have been that I (unthinkingly) unzipped a newer
version of the plugin over an existing installation.

Since the plugin changed (at some point between 2.4.4 to 2.5.3) from
standalone .pm files to bundled .par files there was some sort of
incompatibility introduced (presumably the pm loaded before the par or
visa versa).

Completely deleting the plugin folder and starting from scratch seems
to have fixed it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can 'alarm' functionality be extended via plugin?

2008-12-02 Thread peterw

The alarm code in SC 7.2 and newer sends several different notifications
to which a plugin can subscribe. So you could have a plugin subscribe to
'alarm sound' events and cause that kind of info to be displayed. One
relatively easy way to do that may be setting the When Playing
screensaver pref on 'alarm sound' and restoring the pref when the alarm
quits -- just a couple event subscriptions and some
setTimer()/killTimer() calls. Otherwise you have to deal with stuff
like preventing the When Playing saver from kicking in.

Another option may be changing the default alarm screensaver -- look at
the code of Slim/Util/Alarm.pm, IIRC there's a spot where you can
specify that savers other than now_playing could/should be used. Making
that change might require running the pure Perl version of
SqueezeCenter, which may be non-trivial if you're on Windows.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: College Hockey Scores plugin for SuperDateTime

2008-12-02 Thread sderuiter

Hi Mike,

I'm not at all interested in College Hockey, but very much interested
in your plugin :-)

I would like to use this as a basis for a plugin idea that I'm
developing, getting traffic info onto my Boom.
Now, I have SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 and SuperDateTime 5.8.1 running (both
on ReadyNAS NV and Windows XP for testing).
I've also installed your plugin, which seems to get picked up nicely by
SqueezeCenter.
However, I see no trace of your plugin in SuperDateTime, that is I
don't see where I can set any option that allows me to show anything
from your plugin.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: College Hockey Scores plugin for SuperDateTime

2008-12-02 Thread Mike Meyer

My plugin is separate from the SuperDateTime plugin but it calls the API
of the SDT plugin. Greg Brown was nice enough to create an API so
others can display other information. If you search for API in the
SuperDateTime thread you should see some information there.

You should see College Hockey Scores in the Settings page in the web UI
for SqueezeCenter. It doesn't share a settings page with SDT.

It seems like someone has written a traffic plugin before but I don't
remember where I saw it. Maybe not for your area though.

Have fun!

You will only see something on days where there are hockey games. If

If you are displaying other sports scores or stock quotes with SDT then

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SBC firmware update deletes Lyrics applet

2008-12-02 Thread vagskal

1. I have the Lyrics plugin/applet installed. I installed it manually on
the Controller using WinSCP as per instructions here:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlay_Applets

After upgrading to SC 7.3 and a subsequent update of SBC's firmware the
content of the Lyrics folder (/usr/share/jive/applets/Lyrics) - but not
the folder - disappeared on the Controller. I restored the content of
that folder using WinSCP, but a subsequent firmware upgrade deleted the
content again. I am now running 7.3 r3464.

How can I make the applet stick?

2. I cannot get the more handy applet instalation via the menu option
in the Controller to work - No applet is found. Can anyone enlighten me
as to the exact folder structure for the applet to be installed this
way? I now have ...\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins\jive\Lyrics
Should the nested zip-file containing the .lua-files remain zipped or
be unzipped?

3. Is there any way to have the Lyrics menu appear in the Song Info
menu, togheter with the menus for the Biography and Album Review
plugins?
