Not that I am aware of, are you talking about the DSL router or my

Sorry i am really rubbish when it comes to hardware issues.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - rstp: read error

2009-01-15 Thread bpa

The simple test is usually trying mplayer to play a BBC station and if
you get rtsp error then it could be a router problem.

What are the brand and models of your wireless and DSL routers ?

Has the DSL router got one or multiple ethernet connections at the back
?

Users have reported that for D-Link routers (esp DIR-655) the
Application Level Gateway (aka ALG) blocks BBC audio and has to be
turned off with an option under Advanced Firewall Systems.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How to unbind the database?

2009-01-15 Thread Dr Lovegrove
2009/1/15 egd egd.3m18en1231985...@no-mx.forums.slimdevices.com:

IIRC it's option 2b you're after for the unbinding to become persistent
 - AFAIK SC doesn't give a hoot what else connects to MySQL, so
server.prefs is irrelevent to having another app access the DB.

In v7 servers from december 2007 onwards, the my.tt file bind-address
line should look like:

bind-address = [% bindAddress %]

The my.tt file is parsed by SC and %bindAddress% is populated from the prefs
file setting. The resulting my.cnf file is written to the cache folder
and is passed
to MySQL at startup.

I'd suggest it was far safer editing a preference rather than a source file..

The pref can be set/queried via the CLI, so you can then tell what state
the binding's in and not require users to edit files..

iTunes update receives the rating and is working fine. iTunes does not
alter its rating, but it does update the playcount. I'm confused!

Could be a bug.
Is there any mention of iTunes Update setting the rating in iTunes?
I added some code so that ratings were only saved if changed (i.e. not re-saved
if only viewed),
Possibly the rating from trackstat doesn't trigger that correctly.

 Thanks.
I'm sure the Squeezeslave instances will need unique MAC addresses (not
a problem) and it appears the option is there for each instance to bind
with a its own soundcard. The only question is can Windows cope with
two soundcards or is squeezeslave's device-id option only really useful
 for linux or mac users?

They are indeed useful for Windows. I run two squeezeslave copies on
my XP system. One for the MB based sound card (Realtek) for speakers
and another for my logitech USB headset dongle. I like the USB sound
adapter as I don't have to listen to the computer interference in the
headphones.

Note that some of the command line options have changed in the newer
version of squeezeslave. SS no longer prints the devices by default
and the --signal/-s option is always used and no longer needs to be
specified. The device list includes input devices which are useless at
this point, I just ignore them. I've been testing the latest windows
version for the last month and will shortly be releasing the new
version on sourceforge.

C:\Program Files\Squeezeslavesqueezeslave-0.8-25 -L
Output devices:
0: Primary Sound Driver
1: Realtek HD Audio output
2: Logitech USB Headset
3: Primary Sound Capture Driver
4: Realtek HD Audio Input
5: Logitech USB Headset

Here are the two scripts I use to start both squeezeslaves in my
startup menu. Squeezecenter runs on the same system, so I don't
specify an IP address at the end of the command line.

Code:

  C:\Program Files\Squeezeslavetype ss-realtek.cmd
  @echo off
  :start
  C:\Program Files\Squeezeslave\squeezeslave-0.8-12.exe -s -r15 -O -o1

  C:\Program Files\Squeezeslavetype ss-logitech.cmd
  @echo off

  C:\Program Files\Squeezeslave\squeezeslave-0.8-25.exe -r15 -o2
-m02:17:31:7B:88:7b

the iphone now sending out Bonjour multicast DNS messages(UDP port

these a second and completely choking my router. The culprits are the
squeezeboxes themselves as they seem not to be answering the UDP
messages sent by the iphone and hence the bombardment.

If disconnect the SB's from the network the bombardment stops - I can
then re-connect them and everything works fine again.
That's not iPeng.
iPeng is NOT sending Bonjour messages but uses the Squeezebox server

The reason I asked (if anyone cares) is that in the office I've got the

I can listen to my collection on an FM radio when I'm in the

better WAF than having to boot the laptop.

Its a major pain, if you use google code to store the repository file
then you are screwed as they dont allow you to delete a file only
depreciate it! So you would need to rename it each change. Since the
Extension downloader needs a static filename you will need to find
anything provider to host the file, or bare the cost out of your own
pocket. Dont forget that each install will poll the server for the xml
file daily?? so traffic can add up.

Would be nice if Logitech setup a secure dev area for these

No, I admit it's a bit confusing.
The Plugin (iPeng 0.5.3) for SqueezeCenter will provide a Web Interface
to use with MobileSafari:
http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ipeng-the-iphone-skin-for-squeezecenter/
It does have even more functionality than the native App but being a
Web App it's rather slow.

The App Store application (iPeng 1.0.5) has a bit less functionality
(yet) but it's much faster and more comfortable.
You don't need the plugin for the App but if you have it, it won't hurt
and the App will then use some of it's strings.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlieBBC - Constantly Rebuffering

2009-01-15 Thread lindburgh

I recently installed AlienBBC plugin on my system, which consists of
Squeezecenter running on an Intel iMac and four squeezebox duet
devices. It seemed to work the first day, but now everytime I try to
listen to a 'listen again' program with AlienBBC, it constantly
rebuffers, and becomes unusable. The stream pauses every 20 seconds or
so, and buffers for another 20 seconds. Is there any way to fix this?

I searched the forums, but others with this problem are using Windows
or Vista and the solution seems technically specific to the operating
system. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC - Constantly Rebuffering

2009-01-15 Thread bpa

The sort of rebuffering is probably not due to BBC - in which case it is
CPU or Network and in your case the Network should be tested.

AlienBBC will use Flac by default between SC and player which needs
about 1500kbps throughput.

Are the all the players synced ?

Can you run the network test and determine what is the max rate which
can be sustained for at least 10 mins at 100%.

I have four duet receivers that are all synchronized. The test shows
100% performance at 1500 kpbs.

I no longer get a rebuffering problem on any AlienBBC content.
Instead, it seems like the track is playing (time indicator shows time
passing), but I don't hear anything. That is the case for both listen
against and live streams.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins do not install

2009-01-15 Thread rat

I am running windows XP and Transporter. I have downloaded the Custom
Skip plugin, unzipped it on the desktop and moved it to C:\Program
Files\Squeezecenter\server\plugins. Then I opened again SqueezeCenter:
the plugin had regularly appeared in 'Extras' and everything is
allright. But when I tried the same thing with other plugins (Custom
Scan, Custom Browse, Track Stat and Dynamic Playlist) the plugins have
not appeared in the 'extras' and they do not work. Thinking I had made
someting wrong I reinstalled (with a clean install) Squeezecenter and
redid eveything again : same results.
What is wrong ?

Comand prompt is picky.

1. Do not have a C: at the start
2. Make sure whole string is in quotes () as there are spaces in
Documents and Settings, the system will assume the command is
everything from prompt up to 1st space unless it is quoted.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins do not install

If you use 7.3, you should really try the repository for those. It
makes life a ton easier (especially if you tend to stock up on Erland's
plugins!)

Settings - Advanced - Extensions Downloader

And add
http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/latest.xml

This makes adding plugins mindnumbingly easy. No more downloading,
unzipping and moving to the right place.

Of course, it may mean you end up installing every plugin under the
sun, but that's not my fault. :)

Perhaps get a log to see what is happening.

1. Set player.source to INFO from WebUI Settings/Advanced/Loggin g and
click apply.
2. Note Time and try a BBC listen Again stream. Wait at least 1
minute
3. Open the server.log (See Settings/Information) and copy log entries

Your log indicates that either mplayer is not running or couldn't
connected to BBC.

To test mplayer try the following command in a Terminal window.

MPLAYER -V -BANDWIDTH 1
RTSP://RMV8.BBC.NET.UK:554/RADIO4FMCOYOPA/RADIO_4_FM_-_FRIDAY_1415.RA

If mplayer is not in a directory on the path you may get an error such
as mplayer : command not found

OK - mplayer needs to have the path put in front of its name.

For example if mplayer is in /usr/local/bin then the test would be

/usr/local/bin/mplayer -v -bandwidth 1
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk:554/radio4fmcoyopa/radio_4_fm_-_friday_1415.ra

However you will have to find the directory holding mplayer.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-01-15 Thread gharris999

FYI:

I've finally bit the bullet and got Ubuntu 8.10 desktop running on one
of my servers. That means that I've now managed to make a functioning
Ubuntu (and other debian flavors, presumably) setup script for
SrvrPowerCtrl. I'll include that with the next beta version in a
couple of days, hopefully.

In the same vein, I got CentOS 5.2 running on the same server. The
only issue I ran into with CentOS was having some difficulty making the
apci wakeup work. Apparently, if your acpi wakeup is programmed via
writing to /proc/acpi/alarm, the alarm doesn't survive a hwclock reset.
So, if you can't get your CentOS machine to wakeup for alarms, check
various scripts (like /etc/rc.d/init.d/halt) for calls to hwclock and
comment them out. In my case, the real culprit was
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/90clock: by commenting out the call to
/sbin/hwclock in suspend_clock(), suddenly the machine started waking
up in a timely fashion after suspending.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

Just tried it again and now it's working! Must've been a BBC iplayer
 problem I guess.

It's still not 100%. For example, just started listening again to
Wednesday night's Radio 2 | 20:00 Radcliffe Maconie Show. This is a 2
hour show but the stream is only 48:57. AlienBBC has the full 121
minutes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC - Constantly Rebuffering

2009-01-15 Thread bpa

I don't think what you have used is the fullpath.

I am not an OSX owner or user but I believe if you select and drag
mplayer from your graphical file manager into the Terminal window - the
full path of mplayer will be put on the command line.
Then you will be able to add the remainder of the command -v
-bandwidth 1

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: muso (beta)

2009-01-15 Thread booguss

Hi, and congrats to a great app!

I have though some problems with getting the lyrics to show up. I know
how to show them (via the Now Playing link to the left) and that the
data should be retrieved from lyricwiki. Problm is that I have never
had any lyric to show up, even though there were some serious hits
which definitely were to find in the lyricwiki database. I cross
checked that...

Under Song Lyrics I just get Searching... but nothing shows up.
Anyone else having this problem?

Cheers!

/b00guss (ver. 1.0.14)
