Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 Linux no longer transcoding WMA (other work though)
Thanks for your reply. I think I will redo some debug logs and see if I can see or learn anything. The new custom-convert.conf and mplayer.sh files seem to have made a difference. I now see the word "connecting" on the soft squeeze display. It didn't use to say this so again, maybe we're making progress. At least I can now listen to BBC stations which is great. I saw your NPR plugin and would like to get that working, however, I suspect softsqueeze will be a problem there as well if the streams are wma. Some URLs contain "formats=mp3,wma,real" as part of the URL. Does this mean that this station can broadcast any of these formats? If so, what selects which format you get connected with? Some of the WMA stations I'm having trouble with have this in the URL. Is there still support for softsqueeze or is squeezeplay replacing it? Softsqueeze is really nice when it works. I use it regularly. -- eschurig eschurig's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2175 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58217 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hey Brooster, Try this: 1) Go into your web interface, then goto your players "basic settings" and set the power off screensaver to superdatetime. Click apply and exit out of the all web interface screens. 2) on your squeezecenter box, navigate to this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\prefs\plugin 3) Delete the superdatetime.prefs file and restart squeezecenter (reboot) 4) When Squeezecenter restarts, turn your boom on/off. (do not go into the web interface, your boom should already be set use superdatetime at power off.) power on/off a few times to be safe. If this works, you can now go into the web interface and youll notice that the superdatetime settings are now filled in. Again, if this all worked, Im guessing that you went, turned the icons 'on' in the interface screen and hit apply. As I noted in a previous post, this would prevent the default settings from being set. Hope this works for you. -- SqueezEd SqueezEd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=25848 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguzeq - Music stops playing
All I was trying to say about streaming FLAC simultaneously to two SB3s with Inguz running is that there may be other bottlenecks/conflicts contributing the processor issues that some users are having. One of my SB3s (main system) was running a correction filter, the other (in a bedroom) was set to no correction. If I was able to do this without a stutter on a 1 ghz athlon with 768MB RAM - then perhaps some of the claims people make here about having problems with MUCH higher powered boxes shouldn't turn you off so quickly. I understand that Inguz makes certain hardware recommendations on the website - but I am telling you that I (and many others) have been able to get away with a lot less. -- esbrewer Server: 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo iMac running MacOS 10.5.6 and SC 7.3 Plugins: Inguz DRC, Sirius Radio, Album Review, SqueezeScrobbler Sources: SB3 (2), SB Boom, NAD C542, NAD T515 Amplification: NAD C720BEE Loudspeakers: Paradigm Studio 20 (v.1) Headphones: Grado SR60, Etymotic ER4P http://www.last.fm/user/esbrewer esbrewer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12409 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60466 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 Linux no longer transcoding WMA (other work though)
If the hardware player works OK every time with WMA native disabled but Softsqueeze doesn't then it is likely to be a Softsqueeze problem. If it is a Softsqueeze problem then it probably need a fix to Softsqueeze. Since about 6.5 there has been a similar problem when playing RealAudio streams but it didn't affect all users. As WMA on Softsqueeze is similar to RealAudio (i.e transcoded to Flac) - I wonder whether it is the same problem. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58217 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse Menu Order
Hi, I used Custom Browse to create a Composer menu and put it directly into the Browse folder by selecting "Show in browse and home menu". The first thing that I don't understand here is the documentation from http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Custom_Browse_plugin#Menu_structure, which does not make clear whether checking this will let a menu appear in the browse menu or the home menu and how this is chosen. Does anybody has a clue on this? But actually, after selecting this option the Composer menu appeared in the Browse where I wanted it, so the question above is just out of curiosity, since it worked the way I wanted it. But now, I would like to change the order of the entries within the Browse menu and wanted to ask how I can do that. The Composer menu ended up between Random Mix and Playlists and I'd like to move it up a bit. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. The timing problem is happening with newer systems and so it is unlikely to be your problem. To eliminate possible Softsqueeze problems - do you have an hardware player ? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 Linux no longer transcoding WMA (other work though)
Im running a 400MHz pentium II (full model number ???) with 256M memory. I just added 64M last night but this didn't seem to help the wma issue. I'm running a recently upgraded debian etch OS. I was planning on upgrading to lenny but noticed some folks were having some squeeze center problems (perl version) with lenny so I decided to wait a little bit. Although this machine is setup as a desktop, it is used only for squeezecenter and as such, doesn't have speakers connected. In other words, I run softsqueeze on a different windows machine. Can you tell from the log file I sent a couple posts ago if the issue is a timing issue? I've been staring at various log files trying to spot differences but I'm not quite knowledgable enough yet to make sense out of much of it. If I can create a log that would be more helpful please let me know. I will try the mplayer.sh and custom-convert.conf files again shortly. Last time I tried this, I replaced the current files with the new ones and restarted squeezecenter. Please let me know if my procedure needs adjustment. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 Linux no longer transcoding WMA (other work though)
Roughly the same AlienBBC code is used for RealAudio and WMA - however timing is different and it looks like timing and new faster multi core systems is creating a problem. When the timing problem occurs mplayer is ready to play the stream but it seems SC is not ready or the connection to SC is broken and so mplayer stops just after it starts. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux
I've spent quiet a bit of time trying to get this plugin to work on my system. First I couldn't get ecasound or arecord to record at all. My system uses PulseAudio and I used this guide to configure it to work with Audacity: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio I also managed to get it to work with ecasound while running the 'padsp' command before 'ecasound': 'padsp ecasound -q -z:db -b:4096 -f:16,2,44100 -i:/dev/dsp -o test.wav' However i've tried several ways to get it to work with the squeezebox, Ive tried doing: '[padsp] [ecasound] -q -z:db -b:4096 -f:16,2,44100 -i:/dev/dsp$FILE$ -o stdout' I also tried creating a new files in '/usr/sbin/' called 'wavinwav', 'wavinflac' and 'wavinmp3'. The files looked liked this: #/usr/sbin/wavinflac padsp ecasound -q -z:db -b:4096 -f:16,2,44100 -i:/dev/dsp -o stdout | flac -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 - Then I configured the 'custom-conver.conf' calling just [wavinflac] etc. This didnt work.
