Quick update to announce version 1.9beta. See the website for further
details, please note this is a beta release and has a lot of new code in
it which may or may not function correctly :)

 Main New Features
 Coming Up Next Display
Per player opt in and opt out
Mix by Genre which overrides Filters

Note it will NOT work with 7.4 due to the core database changes, once
7.4 is stable and the current release I will look at what changes are
 required.
The Coming Up Next Display on the SB3 is great while the player is
playing, but when you are doing a search it still comes up, which isn't
so great. Could you add the ability to turn this off with the remote, or
better still only allow it to display on the now playing display ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 2.4a5 for 7.3.x beta available for testing

2009-05-28 Thread entrecour

I am outside of the UK and I am using SC Version: 7.4 - 26597 together
with Alien BBC v2.5-7.3. (no other versions being available in the
extension downloader).

Alien BBC does not work for me seemingly since the latest update to SC
7.4.

BBC works for me under the SC menu Internet Radio / World / National /
BBC

I am not sure if this is an SC problem or Alien problem.

Attached is the server log.

Any help appreciated.

2009-05-28 Thread bpa

SC 7.4 is a developer version and can be unstable. I would advise
installing the latest version. The errors in your log are SC errors
showing that the version of SC you are running cannot find some SC
required files. The log errors have nothing to do with AlienBBC.

For example;

I really wish the BBC's own iPlayer website used the same XML feeds that
we have to use. PM from yesterday streams fine on the iPhone, so there
is an MP3 stream there, if only the XML feed knew were it was.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playlist Plugin and the Controller

2009-05-28 Thread wnshall

Should play+hold on the Controller when standing on Playlists bring up
the Dynamic Playlist context menu? Recently I noticed that it doesn't
for me, and it seems like it used to. It does work using the IR remote
and in the webUI. Also, play+hold works on the Controller when standing
on Artist, Album, or Genre. Is there some configuration that I
overlooked?

(I'm using SC 7.2 on XP and not the very latest versions of Erland's
plugins.)

 Damn BBC!
The BBC don't take hardware players seriously. The man with the most
clout in this area, the BBCs very-new-media-darling James Cridland, said
in his blog that the numbers of people that use them are quite small.
You can see his i-can--mash-up-every-widget-sweetie page here:
http://james.cridland.net/
and a fuller blog here:
http://james.cridland.net/blog/

He says a lot but delivers little (and as such fits right in with the
zeitgeist of recent times).

It would be very simple for them to provide robust iPlayer XML files
for third party players THAT DON'T BREAK EVERY WEEK! So why don't they?

I used to love the BBC but am beginning to think they do not
deserve the licence fee (tax?).

Have there been any developments on this since 2006 (!) - link to
patch doesnt work. Specifically I'd like to delay the alarm playing for
a few seconds after turning on.

thanks
