OK, crashing after 6s with a 7.3.3 server sounds bad, never had that.
A few things to check:
On Penguinlovesmusic.com only these issues refer to the App, the rest
is about the plugin and apply to you:
http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ipeng-application/how-to-use-the-ipeng-application/known-issues/
So your #2 doesn't apply here.
also, #6 should have no effect as should #7 (iPeng doesn't use port
9090).

Apart from that:
1. Could you check whether all your players really have names. That
bug's supposed to fix but I can't test this very well since a player not
having a name is not a legal state in SC and thus I can't reproduce it.
You can change a player name in the SqueezeCenter settings under
"Players"
2. Are you sure there is no other machine on your network running
SqueezeCenter 7.4? If so, temporarily shut it down until you have
connected iPeng to your main server.
3. I don't believe the issue is that you can't connect to the server
since I don't believe iPeng crashes after 6s without a server. In any
case, you can add a server if you turn off wifi, start iPeng and then go
to "Settings->iPeng Settings".

If all this doesn't help, could you grant me access to your server? You
would have to forward port 9000 (not 9090) on your router.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2009-07-09 Thread erland

For anyone just monitoring this thread and not the whole 3rd party

of my plugins that works with the SQLite version of Squeezebox Server
7.4:

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Squeezebox Server 7.4 beta versions of erlands plugins

2009-07-09 Thread erland

I've now started the conversion of all my plugins to the SQLite based
version of Squeezebox Server(SqueezeCenter) 7.4. I'll be using this
thread for announcing new beta versions for 7.4, when the plugins are
stable enough I'll go back to the old announcement thread.

TO BE AWARE OF
==
If you are willing to participate in beta testing you should be aware
of the following:
- I can't promise that the configuration you make in the beta versions
will work in the final versions. Hopefully it will, but you might also
have to redo the configuration when the final version is released.
- I can't promise that any statistics collected with TrackStat during
the beta version will be possible to use in the final version. Hopefully
it will, but you might also need to restore a backup from before the
beta test start.
- There might be some database table changes in some of the plugins
during the beta test period. In the worst case this might result in that
you will have to clear the cache directory and perform a full rescan if
something goes bad during table changes.
- Some functionality in the beta versions of the plugin might not have
been tested at all.

NOTE!!!
If you have never used my plugins before I would suggest that you use
the latest official versions of my plugins instead of these beta
versions. The latest official versions still only works with 7.3.3 and
earlier.

FEEDBACKS AND COMMENTS
===
Let me know if you find any bugs or have ideas for new features or
changes. You can post your bugs, feature request or change suggestions
in this thread or in a separate thread on the 3rd party plugins forum.
Remember to mention which plugin and version you are using.

The intention of this beta testing period is to get some help testing
the upgraded functionality, so I would appreciate if anyone
participating would focus on testing functionality that you know has
worked before. I will not add new features at this stage, the main focus
will be to make sure everything that has worked before still works with
the new Squeezebox Server version.

I've not done any testing at all in larger libraries, so if you have a
large library you might get very poor performance. If this is the case,
please let me know.

The plugin versions now available that works with 7.4 SQLite based
Squeezebox Server(SqueezeCenter) are:

TRACKSTAT 2.9PRE1
==
- Status: Most parts have been tested
- Mostly same functionality as in TrackStat 2.8
- Added support for Mac OSX in TrackStatiTunesUpdate.pl script
- Since TrackStat relies on Custom Scan plugin for all import/export
functionality this functionality won't work until a Custom Scan beta is
available.
- Since TrackStat relies on Dynamic Playlist plugin for all dynamic
playlist functionality this functionality won't work until a Dynamic
Playlist beta is available.

To install the new versions you need to setup a new repository in
Squeezebox Server Settings/Plugins:

Code:

http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/testing.xml

If you for some reason still don't want to use the new plugin installer
which is a part of Squeezebox Server, you can of course still download
the plugins from:
http://erland.isaksson.info/download

I've actually started work on this and have had some initial success.
My biggest stumbling block, I'm anticipating, will be supporting
password protected CLI. My sockets code that I'm adapting for this will
need a fair amount of rewrite to work with that sort of security. But
anyway...I am making progress with this. If you can live with out the
security stuff, I should have an initial alpha version out sometime next
week.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-07-09 Thread Innocence

The Windows XP "server" I'm using for SqueezeCenter is also running
HTPC, fileserver, backup etc., so unfortunately I can't have
SvrPowerControl suspend the whole PC just because noone's currently
listening to SqueezeBox :)

I am however VERY interrested in a tool (running in the background)
which could fire commands to "move" idle/turned off players to
SqueezeNetwork before a system-initiated suspend, and move them back to
SqueezeCenter upon resume, for the following reasons:

1) I use a free utility (WakeUp, noeld.com) to prevent Windows from
suspending if there are connections on certain ports, among those 3483
(SqueezeBox receiver). However, even when a receiver is turned off, it
keeps connection/port to the SqueezeCenter open.

2) Aesthetics: If the PC running the SqueezeCenter the receiver is
pointing to goes into suspend, the receiver turns on the annoying "blue
light" :)

Both these problems would be solved if the receiver was pointed to
SqueezeNetwork before suspend :)

I already use PowerSave plugin to automatically turn off idle receivers
(paused/stopped for more than 15 minutes) - I really need the tool
you're proposing :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM Radio Plugin 3.0

2009-07-09 Thread wharfrat

The plugin needs to log in to XM to get the list of channels & presets.
If the login fails, you'll see a blank controller screen and the error.

Check that you entered email and password correctly into settings -
this is the email and password that you usually enter on the XM listen
online page.

Error messages and their explanations are included in the wiki at
http://code.google.com/p/xmradioplugin/

Just wanted to thank bpa for this plugin.
Only had Squeezecenter etc since November 2008, but it's so good that I
haven't played any of my own CDs since then.
I was going to put my CD player and CDs into storage but was wondering
what I'd do if a friend brought round a CD and I no longer had anything
to play it on.
After finding and installing this plugin (Ubuntu Server 8.04) I can now
put them all away - should please my wife!

Only had a bit of trouble getting it going, but after reading this
thread and adding squeezecenter to the cdrom group everything worked,
great, thanks again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM Radio Plugin 3.0

2009-07-09 Thread kbkonkle

IIRC, the message says something to the effect of "No server found". I
know that's not the exact message. XM Radio's web site was working at
the time.

The problem is that I don't see any channels or even the XM Radio
application in any form when I click on the XM Radio icon in
SqueezeCenter. All I get is the "log in" link that does nothing.

Unfortunately, I forgot to check the logs.

I did not look at the duet controller while working on this. I figured
I would need to get SqueezeCenter running on the computer before I
messed with the controller.

I'll try to get you the log info.

OK, I'll try to check.
If it is as I explained it, the reason for the behavior is the
"unofficial feature": iPeng uses system volume notifications to change
the volume of the active player - this is how changes using the volume
up/down buttons are detected.
I just never saw these notifications coming when a system volume
category changes.

I cant understand why it would effect the volume of ipeng, maybe the

it to change the setting of an app confuses me.

I can see that it does the same thing with the actual ipod music too so
i guess the too are related.

and yes it does it even when screensaver is on.

Stu,

does it change the volume of the player, too?
I would have to check, but it could be. The touch maintains different
volume for each configuration and "docked" could be one of these. Maybe
it doesn't just switch the volume but sends volume adjust
notifications.
Does this also happen when the screen saver is on while you dock it?
