Is there a summary of alien bbc features not supported in the

Is this necessary since there will be no choice after March 2010.
Basically categories, schedule are not there now in BBCiPlayer and
program availability can be delayed.

It is not a temporary fault, but the same thing happens every time I

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

2009-10-24 Thread esbrewer

Has anyone here played around with the Brutefir plugin if Inguz is not
going to be following SBS forward? Inguz took me a while to figure out
- but at first glance Brutefir looks to have an even steeper learning
curve.

I'm considering the SVS AS-EQ1. It's getting great reviews and is
apparently very easy to use and affordable. Since a majority of the
problems we're trying to correct are bass related, it should do the
trick for those of using a sub. If anyone has tried some of Audyssey's
other stuff the results are generally very impressive.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

2009-10-24 Thread miklorsmith

I have three SB systems, the biggun, one in the livingroom, and one in
the garage. The big system has a separate bass circuit from the preamp
professional EQ stereo Pro amps subs. It really represents The
Ideal, as the mains are kept free of any fiddling and the sub
frequencies, say 70 hz down, are fully in control. It's amazing how
much getting the bass 'right' helps the rest of the spectrum. Tip of
the day - if you're using subs, do you know where your phase is? It
doesn't take much overlap/phase misalignment to Kill big chunks of bass
in a room. Like 25 db kill. Get it right and all the speakers work way
less with much-reduced distortion. It's quite shocking to me that many
subs only supply a +/- control, but that's another topic . . .

In this setup, I likely won't be using Inguz, as I have a complete
hardware/software suite. However, my garage system includes a pair of
handbuilt single-driver, bass-reflex boxes. The speakers really would
like a smaller room and better corner reinforcement. But the garage is
as big as it is and corners aren't available. The setup actually sounds
really good, way better than a garage should (and better than my
livingroom setup). However, it needs a little massaging. It does make
bass, but has the dreaded single-driver presence-band lift. So the bass
is recessed.

Using my .mp3 player as source and goosing its EQ, which is way less
sophisticated than Inguz', it comes into balance and sounds killer. If
I could instead stream my lossless files and really tailor the speaks to
that room, I'd be in tinkerer's heaven. As it is now, the .mp3 player
sounds better than the SB, even with worse music files just because of
the response curve.

The livingroom setup is a little thumpy in the bass, obvious port lift.
I'd probably just measure the exact frequency, move Inguz frequency
center to that location, and drop about 3 db - easy fix.

Additional hardware can do the job, but can also introduce other
problems, especially transparency if used above the bass range. And
that's my core point, please please please can Logitech just incorporate
this as a feature? It seems only a matter of time before Hugh gets sick
of following the never-ending software changes (which are fantastic btw)
and gives up. Maybe he already has.

From a hardcore audiophile perspective, this is probably THE MOST
IMPORTANT PLUGIN OF ALL. Period, bar none. It's such as huge advantage
over the competition. Anyway, sorry for the ramble.

Um, yes, the usual confusion.
There's the iPeng App (1.2) and there's the iPeng plugin (0.5x).
The App can be bought on the App Store and you don't need to install
anything on your NAS. It's a full-blown iPhone App.

The plugin is free and can be installed from SC 7.3's Extension
downloader (Settings-Advanced-Extension Downloader).
It's not a full app but a web-skin that will run in you iPod's browser
just like the normal SqueezeCenter web ui, just optimized for iPhone.
It has similar functionality but is much slower and less convenient
than the App.

There are indeed manuals for both on penguinlovesmusic.com

It has similar functionality but is much slower and less convenient
  than the App.

There are indeed manuals for both on penguinlovesmusic.com

Okay, I when I want to use an iTouch (which I still have to buy...)
as the remote control for my squeezebox I just need the iPeng App from
the Store an install it on the iTouch... Okay. I guess there are
documentations how to do so... But what is the PlugIn for? Or does it
just bring my SqueezCenter GUI to the ITouch in an optimized way? By
the way: where can I buy iPeng? I searched the store
(http://store.apple.com/uk/) but didn't found iPeng. Or can I just
load (and buy) it directly when searching via iTouch???
And from your experience: how many GB is needed for the iTouch? An
8GB should work fine, shouldn't it???

Thanks again from a Newbie :)
The plugin is older. And free. Most people prefer the App.

You can download the app directly from the device, using the App Store
app. The App Store is not the Apple Store, it's part of the iTunes
store. Search iTunes for iPeng and you'll find it.
There's also a link on the penguinlovesmusic start screen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-24 Thread havoc1

lol, I bet the thought of updating the documentation is offputting. Once
you have your head around the two modes of Ipeng, it makes total sense.

BTW, I _do_ have less than 100 artists so that is probably why I am not
getting the quick jump letters on the right side of the screen.

cheers

Okay, I think I'll need that iTouch first. Then some thins will clearfy
- I hope ;)
Of course I found that link on the penguinlovemusic-page, but following
that link (from my 'normal' Windows-PC) it just brought me the
downloadpage of iTunes... Searching there for iPeng wasn't a success...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Multiple library entries with SBS 7.4

2009-10-24 Thread kphinney

[UPDATE]

Umm, it looks like I caused my own problems: I'm not sure why or when
I would have done this but inside the Music/iTunes/ folder is the
iTunes Music folder. AND there was an iTunes Music alias folder
pointing to the original. Since my SBS was set to scan the folder
iTunes it scanned the music folder and then the alias, thereby
duplicating everything.

I'm not certain that I created the alias. Perhaps a 3rd party
application would have for some reason. Deleting it fixed the
duplication.

Likewise you could point the SBS to iTunes Music but I keep a FLAC
folder in the 'iTunes' folder so they are picked up by SBS.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Bad Repository Error - (BBCiPlayer etc.)

2009-10-24 Thread LiggySasha

I'm using a Squeezebox v3 with Windows XP. Just installed 7.4.1 and
used then Plugins menu to install BBC iPlayer.

However when I try to use the BBC iPlayer it comes up with the
following error message:
Bad Repository: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.bbc.co.uk

Also I've noticed at the top of the Server settings plugins menu it
says:
Bad repository http://www.mysqueezebox.com/public/plugins/logitech.xml
- Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com

Bad repository
http://www.mysqueezebox.com/public/plugins/repository.xml - Couldn't
resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com

My tech knowledge is pretty basic. I can't call myself a newbie,
because I've had my Squeezebox for years and years, I'm just not very
tech savvy!

Any ideas?

I just tried this for the first time on the SBC. It looks great -
thanks! One question: is there a way to change the album sort order? I
still prefer the old paradigm of how I ordered my LPs and CDs, namely,
artist/year.

You could take the opportunity and download iTunes, you are going to
need it anyway :)
When you have it installed, the link will take you directly to iPeng.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Headphone Switcher for Squeezebox Duet

2009-10-24 Thread sepp650

I've been able to install the plugin ok, and can switch between
headphone and speaker. However, I am only able to hear the controller's
clicking noises through the headphones, but no music.

I understand others have selected the controller as the player, but I
don't seem to have that as an option. When I go to Choose Player, I
only see the 3 players I have installed on my network and not the
controller.

I am using the most current software version 7.4.1 r7915 and don't have
any other pluggins installed yet.

Any advice on why this isn't working for me would be appreciated.

What I'm getting at is there might be something screwy with your

You can test the shortcut by double clicking on the shortcut in Windows
Explorer and Explorer should display the directory referenced by the
shortcut.

Setting Squeezecentre to a directory will eliminate / confirm that MIP
and Squeezecentre work.
