Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunes Update Plugin: Should skip count work?

2009-12-30 Thread mariowing

Thank you for your answer! I downloaded the latest version of the plugin
but could not find the perl import script included in the zip-file. I
therefore googled and found it somewhere else. I am wondering if perhaps
I have an old version. Although I don't know anything about perl, the
version I have don't seem to have any code for handling skipped files.
When running the script it just says no update required. Is it
possible for you to e-mail me the latest version, or direct me to the
correct download location?

Thanks again!

I'll test the screensavers and see if it's just you or them all and
post back. With regards to scrolling, yep, it works fine in the now

The latest version is always on my website at www.jamescraig.co.uk/SlimServer ,

I will have to check whether the script does actually support the skip count!

That's where I downloaded from, but the script for importing into iTunes

Did you discover the cause of the Dynamic Playlist with iPeng problem

Hmm. You can add it next or at the end of the playlist by holding down
the title to reach the context menu or by navigating to the next screen
(track listing) and selecting Add All. If Joerg is persuaded to add an
artwork option (and I really hope he is) all I was expecting the choice
to be was:

1) Current behaviour (i.e plays album)
2) Does same as touching the title of the album (i.e. list tracks)

Personally I think 2) should be the default but imagine that will
probably be a bridge too far for Joerg.

I'll start a poll as soon as I can figure out how to do it (I know I've
seen the facility somewhere around here).

I found that the timer in the Controller wasn't accurate enough to use
repeat codes reliably so I have deliberately not implemented them. I
think to get the required accuracy would require building SqueezeIR into
the kernel rather than having it run as an applet. However, you could
bully SqueezeIR into using repeat codes by doing the following and see
how you get on (I can't guarantee that it will work though):
1) Add the following to the end of your LIRC file:

Code:

  begin remote
  name hk_repeat
  flags RAW_CODES
  gap 22608
  begin raw_codes
  name repeat
  9038 2158 624
  end raw_codes
  end remote

2) You then reference both lirc remotes in the xml like this:

Code:

  SqueezeIR
  remotes
remote ID=HK !-- this is your existing remote --
  protocolLIRC/protocol
  parameters
  parameter ID=filenamehk.lirc/parameter
  parameter ID=remotehk/parameter
  /parameters
  /remote
remote ID=HK_REPEAT !-- this is the new lirc remote --
  protocolLIRC/protocol
  parameters
  parameter ID=filenamehk.lirc/parameter
  parameter ID=remotehk_repeat/parameter
  /parameters
  /remote
  /remotes

3) modify the VOLUME_* hold events in your xml:

Code:

  event ID=HOLD
  modifierLAST/modifier
  actions
  action order=1
  remotehk/remote
  commandvol+/command
  /action
  action order=2
  remotehk_repeat/remote
  commandrepeat/command

- I don't use this and it disturbs me
- I don't care

iPeng currently has a touch-to-play feature for album cover art:
Touching the cover will immediately play that album and destroy the
current playlist on the way.
Some people explicitly request that feature - it's a quick way to play
an album from wherever you can see the cover - some others explicitly
dislike it for destroying playlists.
What's your position?

I use it, but I also frequently touch album art by mistake whilst
building a playlist. The resulting destruction of my playlist is so
irritating and the time it takes to rebuild it so costly that I'd forgo
the touch album art to play album functionality.

However, I guess an option to turn the touch to play on/off might be
the friendliest compromise.

I never knew about it, and thankfully, never discovered it by accident.
I'd be annoyed if it blew my playlist away. Although the longer I use
use Squeezeboxes, the better I am getting about not getting too attached
to an unsaved playlist. :-/

Not necessarily hard, it's just that this is in a lot of places.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mixer - embedding data kills ID3v2 tags?

2009-12-30 Thread audiomuze

There is a known bug in that MiP truncates some ID3 tag data when
archiving. There are no known issues archiving analysis for FLAC files.
What you could try (on a copy of an album to ensure it works) is to
load albums in mp3tag, select all tracks, right click and select copy
tags. Then load same album into MiP and have it archive its analysis.
When that's done, go back to mp3tag (which you've left open, with the
files selected) right click and select paste tags. If the paste
operation doesn't remove tags that are added, you're done.

If that doesn't work, another alternative would be to have GenPUID
write its analysis to an XML file (-m3xml=[file.m3xml]). You can then
code a script to parse the resulting XML file and write the the relevant
data to your mp3 library. Involves a little bit of effort on your part,
but it can be done.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mixer - embedding data kills ID3v2 tags?

2009-12-30 Thread lrossouw

I would use genpuid. It also has an archive option which saves the
musicip data to tags. It hasn't messed up any of my tags in my mixed
mp3 \ flac library. However I'm close to 100% there is absolutely
nothing other than IDv2.3 (or 2.4) tags in my mp3 files. This may avoid
possible issues genpuid or musicip have.

I basically run genpuid on my library scheduled daily and it updates
the musicip database as well as archiving analysis to the tags.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mixer - embedding data kills ID3v2 tags?

2009-12-30 Thread audiomuze

As an experiment I used GenPUID to generate an XML output file from its
analysis. The command I used was as follows:
Code:

genpuid musicdnskey -m3xml=m3lib.m3xml -r -threads=4 .

I THINK the resulting XML output contains everything you need to be
able to add the analysis data via a script (assuming you understand
XML...I don't). You would need to archive analysis to a sample mp3 file
to see what form the tag takes.
Code:

In any event, sounds like lrossouw's approach may be simplest, if it
gets around the known bugs that others have reported here. Don't have

I don't use it but understand it will let you play music if you are

You can add the repository link to your plugin manager so it will
