they all seem to lighten up a great deal. This happens even if it is
part of a custom designed jpeg background.  Also a certain amount of
gradient effect seems to be happening no matter the background setting.

Figured I'd throw this out there...doesn't happen with any other
program when moved to the touch screen.

Not heard of that before.. Could you send me a couple of screen-grabs ?

Also, if you set them both to 'flat' background mode, does it still do it ?

Hi Canard,

The volume media keys are the extra vol+/- and mute keys..
The Media Centre compatible hotkeys are normal keys such as CTRLP

In the tray icon menu there is also the option to make these keys

BPA or anyone, could you please explain how uPnP affects softsqueeze.jar
clients. I noticed that after I disabled this feature, my softsqueeze
clients stopped working. Also, I was wondering if this feature has
anything to do with You are logged into another device error.

I'm not sure how uPnP client feature works under Squeezebox
Server/Advanced/Network... but I know for sure it does directly affect
my softsqueeze based clients.

It would be great to understand what advantages/disadvantages the uPnp
feature has for softsqueeze.jar and what other features to
enable/disable both on the softsqueeze client/SqueezeBox Server if
people want to Use uPnP client feature. All I know is my clients wont
work anymore with this feature disabled.

PS: I have the builtin Squeezebox 7.4.2 Softsqueeze plugin on enabled.
I'm not sure if this is even needed for softsqueeze.jar 3.9 clients.
Maybe, I should remove this plugin?

Were you using the latest beta version from
http://srvrpowerctrl.googlecode.com/svn/beta.xml? I redid the OSX
install script last October. Let me go back and check it to make sure
that it creates /usr/local/sbin if it doesn't exist. OSX (which I don't
have all that much experience with) doesn't always include all the
directories that most other unix variants do. E.g. there's no /var/lock
directory either.

In the mean time, if you execute a:

# sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/sbin

..in a terminal window and then run the setup script again, I think
that ought to get you going.

thanks for the quick reply.

i think i'm using the latest version.

i know very little terminal stuff so here's a dumb question: should the

a unix executable file. i ask that because everything else in my

i tried your temporary fix and got the same results. it says that the

Hopefully, someone with more OSX chops will chime in here. But I can't
think of any reason why there should be a /usr/local/sbin executable
FILE, and, as far as I can tell, neither does google:
http://www.google.com/#hl=ensource=hpq=osx+%2Fusr%2Flocal%2Fsbin+executablefp=1

So, give this a try, again in a terminal window:

#sudo mv /usr/local/sbin /usr/local/sbin.org

That should rename any sort of a /usr/local/sbin file and get it out of
the way. Then rerun the setup script.

Please let me know if that solves your problem.

PS: looking at the install script, I do seem to be accounting for the
fact that Snow Leopard doesn't come with a /usr/local/sbin by default:

Code:

#Target dir we're copying scripts into..
  TRG_SCRIPT_DIR='/usr/local/sbin'

  # Snow leopard: /usr/local may not exist!
  if [ ! -d $TRG_SCRIPT_DIR ]
  then
  echo Creating dir $TRG_SCRIPT_DIR
  mkdir -pv $TRG_SCRIPT_DIR
  fi

uPNP is just a protocol which by default uses port 9000. Itis used by

running on the same machine (ie hulu based server/client, trillian,

Maybe I didnt understand you right, but are you saying that

guessing you didnt mean all upnp devices under the sun use port 9000. :)
I know that in the past, I have always used port 9000 for
SqueezeServer, SqueezeCenter, SqueezeBox to talk to Softsqueeze using
the traditional method to communicate along with port 3483.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (or help clarify), when UPNP on

switch from using a proprietary, explicitly defined ports 9000/3483 and

defined for the squeeze protocol?

Thanks!

I don't really understand your issue nor which UPNP you are turning
off. IIRC Softsqueeze knows nothing about uPNP but if there is a clash
of port - obviously it will not work.

Here is my understanding of the port usage.

I don't think SBS settings affects which port it uses. I think it mau
just depend on whether you have a UPNP server up and running on the same
system but I'm not sure. If at SBS startup, port 9000 is unavailable,
SBS will try 9001 and so on until it finds a port. IIRC When each
player broadcasts a requests requesting every SBS to respond - the SBS
servers respond with their address and the port to be used.

Port 9000 (or whatever) is used to stream the audio data. Port 3483 is
used for display and control of the playback including monitoring of the
player buffer status.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2010-01-29 Thread MillmoorRon

On my new Ubuntu server it takes about 1 hour to clear and rescan my
entire library as it used to on my old XP one.

On the old system (exactly the same hardware but different OS) the
Custom Scan Custom Tag module then started and took approximately the
same amount of time to complete. (scanning just one custom tag)

My new system takes about 8 hours to do the Custom Scan bit!

Initially I assumed that this was due to it being the first scan but
subsequent scans take just as long.

I don't have the raw tags option enabled.

Is there another setting that could be causing it to be so slow?

There didn't appear to be any errors or warnings in the log file.

that it reports in Celsius and km/h. But, sometimes I'll notice in the
long range forecast, snow accumulation will be reported in inches as
opposed to cm and things like gusty winds will be reported in mph
instead of km/h. The wind one is interesting as I've seen it use both
units in the same long range forecast.

Other than that, it's been fine and updating properly.

Thanks for the info. Basically the plugin searches for certain strings
and replaces them with the converted value. If there are strings being
used that I'm not aware of I can easily add them to the logic. Next
time you see something odd, please post the EXACT string text. Also, I
don't believe it current does any inch/cm metric conversion.

all you'll get with the forecastTOD logic. Twice a day is probably
enough since you can press '+' to refresh these at anytime.

If you wanted to separate long weather updates from the 10day and
averages you could use logic based on the time since long weather was
last updated. i.e. - Last update was 6 hours ago. This might be a
good compromise between only twice a day OR every x minutes.

Good ideas. I'm not sure how often weather.com even changes the text.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2010-01-29 Thread danco

I've no idea why sbin is a file. But once it is, the suggested mv
command just changes its name to sbin.org, so that will also be a file.

What happens if (after changing the name of the sbin file, or even just
deleting it) you try

# sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/sbin

Does it create a sbin folder? It should.

If it does, then I would expect the setup script to work after that.
You can't lose anything by trying.

Here's another plugin.pm for you guys to play with.

It *should* fix that endless '*' issue. Along those lines, when it
can't parse a page instead it should ignore that data refresh and
hopefully one of the subsequent freshes will work. I could code it to
try over and over again, but I'd prefer not to wreak havoc on
weather.com's servers that are already having a hard time.

The long weather issue should also be corrected so you shouldn't get
dupes.

create too large log files, info level should be better.

 COMM:Songs-DB_CustomX, where X is a number from 1 to 4 (I'm just using

I just realized I was wrong, this actually works in the current Custom

All you have to do is enter the following in the Tag mapping field in
the Custom Tag scanning module configuration:

Code:

  CUSTOM1=as COMMENT(exp=^Songs-DB_Custom1:(.+)$),CUSTOM2=as
COMMENT(exp=^Songs-DB_Custom2:(.+)$),CUSTOM3=as
COMMENT(exp=^Songs-DB_Custom3:(.+)$),CUSTOM4=as
COMMENT(exp=^Songs-DB_Custom4:(.+)$)

This will make Custom Scan scan them as CUSTOM1, CUSTOM2, CUSTOM3,
CUSTOM4
I've tried it with your files and it works correctly.

I knew that tag mapping functionality would come in handy some time in
the future :-)
