Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-02-28 Thread MrRalph

Hi pippin, running version: 7.4.2 on Ubuntu, very stable. However, I
don't get the Genre -> Artist list exactly as I would like. It's
different from the Artist list (directly) itself.

In IPeng the Genre -> Artist list shows MORE artists that clicking
directly on Artists. After some experimenting, it adds (track)artists
that:
(1) appear as track artist on a CD that is tagged with Album Artist
AND
(2) appear as track artist on compilation discs (no album artist).

The normal webinterface (:9000) doesn't have this abnormality: Genre ->
Artist and Artist lists are the same.

Playing with the options on the My Music tab doesn't solve it. Can this
be fixed?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2010-02-28 Thread dcurrier

Just wanted to tell you that I was really frustrated not being able to
get XM on my Squeezebox radio and by lack of interest on XM's part.
Anyhow, I finally found this forum and Neil Potter's great work. I'll be
making a PayPal donation. Well worth it for domestic harmony since my
wife will be able to listen to her favorite stations she's used to from
her car radio.

Couple this with iPeng on her iPhone, I am temporarily a hero.

Can't understand why XM doesn't support this feature.

David

If you haven't done so already, make sure you change the Custom Clock
style in the settings on the Radio, just removing Custom Clock Helper
plugin won't change anything unless you also change to another style on
the Radio.

If that doesn't work, you can either do a factory reset or login to the
Radio with ssh and remove the file:
/etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/CustomClock.lua

I'll have a look.
Generally, you can't judge from web interface behavior on iPeng
behavior. iPeng uses the cli queries like the Controller does so it
should show the same data as the Controller, the web interface is
different.

Since iPeng doesn't really have access to the raw data in the database
but can only use the server queries, any differences here would probably
have to be changed on the server side.

I'm also not sure whether it's an abnormality or maybe intended
behavior.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem with real stream - with AlienBBC

2010-02-28 Thread briank

I had this same problem with "Cyril" FM streams when using the PlayReal
plugin and (for the benefit of anyone who's searching for how to fix it
in this scenario as the above fix isn't possible): its just a matter of
setting "Fast Start" to "Disabled" in Settings->Plugins->PlayReal
Audio->Settings - this does the same as above (removes the bandwidth
setting).

That did the trick for me.

Brian.

(BTW there's a tiny bug in that settings screen where it doesnt
remember the new setting you gave it when you return to that page - it
always shows "Enabled" even though the change to "Disabled" has taken
effect)

The needs to use "Fast Start" is PC dependent and not station dependent.
It is usually needed on some Windows PC where the TCP/IP settings in
the registry have been tweaked by user or a utility to "improve network
performances" or users whose internet connection has a satellite link.

I'm really uncomfortable with using SSH on the Mac Terminal so I went
ahead and did the factory reset. Custom Clock is working again! Now to
try again to make the screen I want. Hopefully I won't repeat whatever
it was that I did last time.

Thank you!

Can anybody suggest a SSH client for Mac?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2010-02-28 Thread abysmillard

I have been able to construct a couple of screens and they actually
work! Thanks for the help.

Just got one other question: where in the world do you get the SBR
icons? If I import one of the posted styles, the icon locations given
appear to be for pages belonging to the originator of the style. Does
that mean that every time I use a tcutter style I'm paying a visit to
tcutter's homepage?

Thanks

They are downloaded from a public web page, some styles download images
attachments in this other threads, some from the contributor homepage
and some from other places.

For standard Radio icons, you can use the svn repository:
Common images Radio/Controller:
http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/7.5/trunk/squeezeplay/src/squeezeplay/share/applets/QVGAbaseSkin/images/
Radio images:
http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/7.5/trunk/squeezeplay/src/squeezeplay/share/applets/QVGAlandscapeSkin/images/
Controller images:
http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/7.5/trunk/squeezeplay/src/squeezeplay/share/applets/QVGAportraitSkin/images/
Touch images:
http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/7.5/trunk/squeezeplay/src/squeezeplay/share/applets/WQVGAsmallSkin/images/

I'll probably implement a bit better caching in a future version and
also a way to use the standard images already available locally on the
Radio.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2010-02-28 Thread tcutting

What would be great would be a way to "compile" a screensaver and have
it completely downloaded to the player. What I mean by that is to have
a way to "save" the screensaver to the Radio, for example, where all the
graphic elements would get saved to the Radio with all the file pointers
automatically setup correctly.

I can see two ways to do this:
1. Let it work as it does today but make it possible to select to store
the downloaded images permanently on the Radio so they don't need to be
downloaded next time unless you do a firmware upgrade.
2. Make it possible to package a style as a zip file that contains both
the setting and all the images.

I wonder which is best ?

Alternative 1 is definitely easier to implement but it requires the
style provider to post the images somewhere where everyone can reach
them.
