Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-05-05 Thread pippin

Now this is REALLY confusing.
iPeng just shows what the server sends it so you have to look at the
server side.
What did confuse me first is that you said Controller shows it
correctly, iPeng should show the same as the Controller.
Now you say Squeezeplay shows the same thing as iPeng... the Controller
IS Squeezeplay, too! It's the same software.

My guess: do you have different sorting set on the Controller (probably
sort by Artist)? Can you set Album sort Order on the Controller at all?
iPeng sorts Albums by Album name in the "Albums" list and by "Artist,
Year, Album" in Artists->All Albums.
Could you check whether the latter is correct?

Which OS do you run the server and Squeezeplay on? Maybe it's an
encoding issue again.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer listern again and Alarms

2010-05-05 Thread alrighte_then

Hi All,

I have been having a read through from found various problems with
regards to the iplayer live streaming and alarms but nothing about the
listern again functions.

The problem I have is I now live in Australia and like to listern to
Chris Moyles when I wake up in the morning.
Because of the time difference between Oz and the UK i have to use the
listern again feature,
on Monday Oz time I will listern to Fridays Show
on Tuesday, I will listern to Mondays Show, etc etc.

The problem I have is a can not find a way of setting this up within
the options. I used to use alien BBC to do this but with it be
discontinued and the BBC shutting down the Real servers that is now not
an option.

Any help on how I can set this up would be amazing.

Many Thanks

Alrighte

Thanks for your help.

I didn't see the option for date/time switching, this works fine, now.

I still would like a larger font for the displayed time :-)

Maybe you can do a poll, I guess I'm not the only one who would like
weather but mainly wants to see the time.

Especially at night, the font is just too small for a quick glance :-)

Hi Michael,

Did the fresh re-install.

Same thing: SlimServer won't start.

I will try the terminal commands later on today, but I fail to

Any other ideas?

It's a brand new machine fresh install of 7.6

Yes I have the albums, it's the Composer tag causing them to show up.
The artist is a composer on one of the songs in the album. I don't
have the squeezeserver option turned on to include composer in artists,
so I don't know why iPeng wants to include them? The web interface and

Annapolis, MD - about 30mi from Washington DC and Baltimore, MD. Other
cheap radios with whip antennas do much better and easily & clearly pull
DC and Baltimore stations. AM is so bad that I cannot hear a local
Annapolis station above the noise. I wonder if conducted interference
from the USB connection is the culprit. I disabled spread spectrum in
the PC BIOS, perhaps this is causing interference.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SharkPlay plugin - radioSHARK player

2010-05-05 Thread TechHome

Up til last night my server lived under the stairs in my basement. This
is the best location as it's the network termination point for all my
TV/phone and LAN cabling. Telephone punchdown block, coax distribution
amp, cable modem, gateway/router, VOIP adapter, ethernet switches etc
all live here too.

Last night I moved the server upstairs. With the USB extension cable I
was able to get the RS2 near an exterior wall and I'm also using the
supplied "external antenna" plugged into the headphone jack. Although
both changes help, reception is still poor, especially AM. Ultimately,
I'd like the RS2 to connect to an omnidirectional outdoor FM antenna I
have in my attic. Connection is via 75 ohm coax. Once this is done, I
can once again put the server in the basement. By the way, this mp3car
thread:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/car-audio/70795-radioshark-car-antenna-2.html
shows how forum members have connected external antennas,
in-particular, scroll down to the post by Akula169. Granted this is
with a RS1... I'll first try it with the attic antenna to a 75-300 ohm
adapter to the ground connection of the headphone jack. If this doesn't
get me there, I'll crack open the case and take more drastic measures.
If you are interested I'll post my progress here.

I found a long USB extension lead to get RS2 away from PC is useful for
reception as PC are often hidden away.

To use external antenna all you need is a cable inserted into headphone
socket of RS2. I tested the external using a standard audio cable ( I
think with 2.5mm plug) and with one end cut off and a length of wire
attached.

I think with original RS, the RS needed to be hacked to use external
antenna.

If you find new icons I could help you to replace them yourself - thats
not too difficult.

As with all feature requests ... at least some other person needs to

Mine is a home-built WHS on a motherboard that doesn't officially
support WHS or Windows Server 2003. I originally disabled on-board
audio in BIOS and after reading your comments I enabled audio and
installed the driver prior to running the RS2 install. The WHS has
WMP11 hacked-in and once the on-board audio was installed, I was able
to directly connect PC speakers and listen to music played by WMP11.
However, I believe WHS does not support audio to a remote PC over RDP.
This is likely the source of the errors I encountered while installing
the RS2 driver over RDP.

By the way, after I got RS2 and Sharkplay working, I uninstalled the
on-board audio driver and disabled the hardware in BIOS. Sharkplay
works fine without it. My big disappointment now lies with the poor FM
reception and the non-existent AM reception. Google helped my find that
Carputer folks have modded the RS2 to connect to external FM and AM
antennas and I hope to do the same, time permitting.

Thanks again for this excellent plugin and I hope my posts will help
others get sharkplay working on WHS.

You probably need to resave the playlist with the new enhanced url
which is used to trigger the additional information. If you save a

Harmony web site for my 785 and I think it worked immediately.
Unfortunately I don't remember exactly which one but I think I found it
by just entering Squeezebox as product name.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SLIMNAS not on Athlon?

2010-05-05 Thread Bas Horneman

Just read this on Micheal Herger's site:

SlimNAS does not run on the FreeNAS AMD64 build!

Does that mean I should not build my own Freenas based server on a PC
with say something like the AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz 2MB because it
is part of the AMD64 family of chips?

Kind regards,
Bas

I've not seen any problems with SIR0.5 on SBS7.5 but that's just me.
It may be dependant on exactly which screen-savers are in use???

:( Yes, it is very different and will require re-formatting of your
beloved csv but the xml version is alot more flexible and allows me to
slip in new features without breaking anything. If you have issues,
post your csv file and I'll have a go at converting it to xml fo you.

There is going to be an "official" update for SBS7.5 (&7.6) soon. I'm
just working on a few bits of twisted logic that I found in the current
version!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2010-05-05 Thread mattross

I have just caught up a bit and realised the Iplayer (1.1.5) plugin can
display stream information, including the track name of the song
currently playing.

This works well on my Transporter and Squeezebox3 if I play a live
stream from the Iplayer menu, but I've been trying to get it working
via an alarm. I have Radio 6Music live added to a playlist and while
the alarm plays the audio stream fine each morning it does not display
any of the stream information.

Is there some way to get it working via a playlist?

Yup, wouldnt be too tricky to do..

For a screensaver, this fellow's worth a look:

Hi Doc

Thanks for a superb program. Been running it on a low power (500MHz AMD
Geode) system with above expected performance. :)

If I may be so bold as to leave a feature request here, it would be
nice with some sort of "screen saver". I am thinking of a now playing
screen that is shown in full screen after a set time of user idleness.
Preferable it should display the cover art with some information
overlayed (Album, artist, song...).

Thanks,
SJ

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Keymappings of Squeezeplayer

2010-05-05 Thread ebk71

I want to control squeezeplayer with my Logitech Harmony 785. I'm able
to control some functions with the use of HIP. But I can't find the
settings for up/down. I tried editing inputtoactionmap.lua with no
luck. Setting keyboard left/right button in HIP don't work. For left
right I use the buttons defined in the inputtoactionmap.lua. What do I
have to ad to this file to make use of up/down?

Hm, interesting idea. You'd have to ask Gordon (the author of

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SharkPlay plugin - radioSHARK player

I'm not familiar with WHS so I don't know the difference between the two
install methods tried and why the KVM method is needed.

It is good to know that USB audio devices work on WHS. So it seems the
"advice" I found that audio support has been stripped from WHS is wrong.
