Hi,

Is it just me that thinks that landscape mode gets annoying most of the
time? I'd like the option to turn it off. I can't see the pros of having
it in landscap mode on an iphone.

No, it's not just you but on the other hand there are also LOTS of
people who requested this.
Main argument is that you have more space for long titles/album names
which is especially important with classical music. This has been a big
issue for classical music lovers for a long time with iPeng.

The screen saver mode has also been a frequent request since pretty
much day 1 of iPeng.

I'll consider adding a switch since I finally found a way how to do
that.

However, with iOS4 you can turn off orientation changes from the task
bar, so I'm not really sure this adds a lot of value.

I assume your songs are not DRM (digital rights management) songs
purchased from itunes. These can't be played by Squeezeboxes.

like whats the full signal handling path?

Not really. In DLNA the server MUST offer LPCM format, and it MAY in
addition offer others format like MP3, FLAC or whatever.

But if the client selects the LPCM offer, the server must deliver LPCM,
so it must transcode from whatever format the source file is in, to
LPCM.

Many clients do support MP3, so if they ask for MP3 from the server,
and the original source file is in MP3 format, then no transcoding is
done.

FYI. I got this working on Windows 7 with the Soundblaster X-Fi Surround
5.1. At first it produced a lot of echo, but when I turned down the
input levels the echo went away.

Works well and successfully streams and syncs with 3 other players in
my house.
The Soundblaster device just plugs in via USB and I'm only using it for
this functionality, so I use my regular sound card for regular audio.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-09-12 Thread atchi123

Hi
I am a long-time fan of the SB range and have a Classic, Duet and
recently a Touch. I think the Touch is great in some aspects but woeful
in others and quite buggy. I am having some issues with a few things at
the moment:
1) iPeng will only sporadically see my SB Touch as a player. The Touch
is there as a music source but often the Touch Player just
dissapears??
2) iPeng sees my PC as a source twice? One of them works and the other
doesn't?
3) (non iPeng issue) From my PC I can't acccess the Touch over the
network. I have enabled sharing and SSH on the Touch but it just isn't
visible on my network (I'm hardwired with HomePlugs). I could access it
prior to the latest firmware update...

Any help much appreociated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-09-12 Thread pippin

Ok, my tries:
1. Could it be the Touch is connected to something else, e.g.
MySqueezebox.com? Have you ever connected iPeng to MySqueezebox.com?
You need to do that at least once to be able to see players on MySB, it
needs to be registered for your account and unless the Squeezebox
doesn't enforce this (you don't need it if you never use MySB).
2. Are you on iOS4 so that iPeng's been running for a while? If your PC
uses DHCP it could have shown up under different IP addresses. iPeng
isn't always good at resolving this and it never ever forgets a server
unless it's restarted. Try to close it from the task bar and re-open
it.
Second thought would be: Did you configure your PC manually? There migh
be a manual and an automatic instance in there.
If no you STILL see your PC twice then I'd guess you actually have two
instances of Squeezebox Server running.
3. No idea. Sorry :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] image rss screensaver for Radio/Touch/Controller?

2010-09-12 Thread erland

I don't think there is anything available yet, but I suspect it might be
possible to do something fairly simple if there is a standard how images
are handled in RSS feeds.

Can you post a number of sample urls to RSS image feeds you would like
to use ?

The Flickr app/screen saver already exists today and can show a
slideshow of your own images or interesting images on Flickr, but I'm
guessing you would prefer something more generic that works with any
RSS image feed.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] image rss screensaver for Radio/Touch/Controller?

2010-09-12 Thread colincliff

Hi Erland,

thanks for the reply. yes, i'm looking for something a bit more
generic. The benifit of a generic rss image reader is that services
like FrameIt or FrameChannel allow you to combine different feeds into
a single one.

some sample image feeds are here:

http://www.framechannel.com/feeds/feed.php?user=**pin=

http://london-info.frameit.com/

http://feeds.gettyimages.com/channels/RecentEditorialEntertainment.rss

your browser might have rss reader built in and so may show the photos
not just the code.

No, that was the same before.
Have you set WOL to manual or automatic?
Did you leave the WOL settings screen before leaving the app/trying
WOL? You have to do that to save the WOL settings.
Do you still see the same WOL settings after a restart of iPeng?

1.2.7 did fix the 1.2.5.1 now I can wake the server shut it down via

but I still cannot turn the display of the Touch into sleep mode, even
the server has already shut down, the Touch is still on and the song is

I have to manually use the stock remote to turn off the display, I
don't have to do that with 1.2.5
