Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin development for iPeng

2010-11-29 Thread azaz44

Excuse me to bother you with another question, but this one looks like
some general issue with iPeng.

I made a context menu with Add, Insert, Play. On 'Play' action I
specify, that the player should go to Now Playing after executing the
action.

This works fine both in SqueezePlay and iPeng. But iPeng doesn't
close the context menu (so actually it doesn't go back from the
context menu). So if are at Now Playing now, and you press the left
arrow to go back to your music collection, you're still in the context
menu with Add-Insert-Play.

SqueezePlay (and Radio, Touch) would close the context menu, which I
think is correct behaviour.

I wanted to look how to fix this, but then I realized, that this
happens everywhere in iPeng (in Music Folder, Albums etc), not only in
my plugin.

Is there any reason for this behaviour?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Clock - Children style

I've tested it myself and I had to paste it twice and press apply each
time, before I could find the entry Style: Children - radio in the
list box.
You need to change the URLs in the item section, according your network
environment. What means the URLs have to point to the file location
where you saved the image files. I had to use the IP address, because
the DHCP name was not successful. In my case the image file location
resides on my SBS server. But as far as I understand could it be
anywhere in your network or even in the WWW. Good luck !

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-11-29 Thread pedro

Hi,

Firstly, thanks for a great piece of software Pippin.

However, I don't seem to be able to eliminate the battery drain
problem. I updated to 1.2.8, then realised that I still hadn't updated
my OS to 4, so I subsequently did that.

If, from a shutdown state, I turn my iPod on and then don't use ipeng
at any point, I can get the battery to last for days. However, if I
use ipeng, it appears to start a battery drain that uses up the battery
within a day. This battery drain will occur even if I start ipeng and
then subsequently press the ipod's 'home' button (i.e. not leaving
ipeng active).

I have uninstalled iPeng (by pressing the x on the wobbling icon) and
then reinstalled, and still encounter the same problems. I've checked
that the option in ipeng settings that allows you to maintain wifi
connection is not selected.

Is there something that I've missed? Are there any tests that I can do
to see if my ipod is trying to hold the wifi connection open, or if
iPeng is using resources even once I've pressed the home button.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

My ipod is an iPod Touch 3G, but only the small one (8GB?).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-11-29 Thread pippin

@pedro
I've done a lot of testing with this recently and I can assure you that
iPeng does _not_ run in the background
One thing that does drain the battery dramatically under iOS4 is
turning push notifications on (the default). If you do that, WiFi is
never shutting down even if you quit all apps.

@ikabob
This usually means that WiFi is not yet connected. iOS4, especially 4.2
is a mess in this regard. There is little I can do about it. If you
leave it running you'll notice that _eventually_ the players will show
up.

Ah! Right, I'll check that when I get home tonight. But of course it's
strange that my (albeit unscientific) tests suggest that the battery
drain coincided with having run iPeng. I'll do some more thorough tests
once I've turned off any push notifications.

Thanks for writing the plugin. It seems like the killer app for me.
However, in my situation it's not running like it should. I have
upgraded to Spotify Premium and I have installed the plugin via the 3rd
party plugin list. The helper app is running but it says:
not logged in to spotify
Loging error: no error
Last error: no error

When I try to connect to Spotify with my Squeezebox, Spotify shows up
under 'radio'. It is also possible to connect to Spotify playlists like
'TOP 100'. I do get to see all the tracks and artists on my console.
However, if I try to play a song, it does no play any music.
I get the message:
Now playing (connecting)
And it shows the name of the song

After a few seconds, it automatically switches to the next song in the
list, but no music is heard after this either.

I'm using a Macpro, MAX OSX 10.6.5 and latest version of Squeezebox
Server 7.5.1 and a Squeezebox.

I have tried the same thing using Ipeng but no luck there either. It
shows the songs and even the album covers, but no music is heard.

Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Clock - Children style

2010-11-29 Thread doubleugk

I've checked the style import on my SBS again, and it's working fine.
You can build a new style manually. Therefore perform the following
steps:
1. Select Style: New ...
2. Enter Children as a name
3. Check radio
4. Select black as a background style
5. Press apply

Now select the new style Children, if it is not visible.
At the bottom of the style, you see a selection box named Items,
1. Select New item... and press apply.
2. Select clockimage for itemtype and press apply.
3. Enter the URL where the image for the clockimage is located and
press apply.

You should have successfully created the first item for the children
style.

Repeat this procedure for the hourhand, minutehand and alarmicon. For
the alarmicon you need to enter 2 additional parameters. posx = 280
posy = 20

Hope this helps.

You can save the files on any computer, which allows a http access. As
far as I understand, there is no need for a permanent access to the
file location. The image files will be loaded into the cache of the
SBR. Maybe they get lost after a reset of the SBR. It's worth giving it

I'm using a 64 GB iPog Touch 3rd generation running iOS 4.2.1. For the

when you go to the playlist screen. Also, once you create a
playlist, how do you play it? The only thing I see is a shuffle

single album.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Could you file a ticket for this, it might be worth changing although

Currently you can't even charge for upgrades on the App Store. It's
limited to two transactions: sale of new Apps or free upgrade, you also
can't give discounts for people buying several Apps or something.

There is one additional way to charge and that is In-App-Purchases for
additional features or content.

On the Playlists: the On the go playlist is gone, you can now
generate several new playlists. It's cumbersome, though.
