Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-02-12 Thread greenfrog

The plugin has worked for me in the past, but today (and very often), I
get "Connection timed out spotify:track:gobblededook" errors.

Here is the server log. Note that the album art is loading up fine.

How do I fix this problem please?

Well, iPeng isn't reading your files directly so it's essentially SBS
using it, but m3u is a playlist, indeed.

As a test: what happens if you play a track through the context menu in
#2?

I don't believe that offline files will be served by libspotify, so you
are probably getting these from the spotify server too. I suspect the
same problem is impacting all of the tracks.

Can you post the output of the helper app log when it does retry (that
is not shown here). If you retry do you get the information. This
debug is showing some temporary errors fetching playlists - is it only
playlist you are having a problem with or is it also browsing tracks.
(Playlists appears to use different servers which take longer to
respond than the default 30 seconds timeout squeezebox server uses)

That either means your scan is still running or iPeng did not get the

I had iPeng running for half an hour. Should be sufficient loading the
library.
After restart ipeng forgets last player too.
I think it is crashing on exit on all my devices everytime!
1.2.7 never did that.

Thanks bpa. I am trying to get everything working through the gui
first. i.e. Get logging working as required and get the same stream
going as is started when I use the your plugin. As you say we can then
see if it fails and if so what is logged as a result. Then if it helps
I can get the same stream going to a null device to get sb out of the
equation.
I'm getting there with the logging. I just need to get the stream going
as it does using your plugin.

I'll try this first now that I have logging going as expected and come
back to you.

Yes the problem I had was that the latest one on the hauppage site
didn't work at all, I couldn't play anything through the card. I called
Dell ts and they said I should use theirs. I did and it all worked
fine.
That said, the one on hauppage is newer so I may try it. I can roll
back if it all goes belly up.

Ok I understand this, I think. What is throwing me is the command lines
in your custom-convert.conf file.
They are all using "acodec=s16l" which is wav is it not?
This is what I am trying to achieve in order to emulate the stream
setup by the plugin through the gui.
I think I need a bit more explanation of this (sorry I'm a bit dim :-)
Is your plugin streaming over http? of not what and why?
Again many thanks for all your help.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Looking for a display capture plugin

2011-02-12 Thread Bas Cancrinus

Hi,
I'm looking for a plugin that covers the following use case:

When a radio channel plays a song on my SB that I like, it would be
nice if I could easily capture the contents of my SB display and add
that to a text file.

Currently I take notes every time I hear a nice song on my SB and once
in a while I go through all my notes and order the tracks on CD. It
would be much easier if I could use a generated text file for this.

Thanks in advance,
Bas

Just tried it and got nothing in the log file :-(
I'm obviously missing something.
Can you give me some more detail on what I should edit in the
custom-config file please? I'm obviously not getting it right.
The other alternative is to be able to set up the same stream from the
gui. Then I know I can get logging going.

btw it seems to be run time related. Haven't timed it explicitly but it
fails every time after approx 1.5 hours.

Thats the right log, but there are no error messages there which show
timeouts - are you sure this relates to the point at which you see the

I've got the rtmp stream playing via rtmpdump and mplayer so I have all
the pieces. I'll take a look at the iPlayer plugin and see if that does
what I need. One potential catch is that this particular rtmp stream
requires encryption, so we'll see how that plays out.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is XM radio down again?

2011-02-12 Thread sfraser

Can anyone with a Canadian XM Radio account currently stream to the
squeezebox? If so could you please enlighten me on how you accomplished
this?

My wife recently activated her Canadian XM account and I cannot get it
to stream to our squeezebox's using the XM squeezebox plugin. I keep on
getting a HTTP com error message.

>From what I gather Sirus/XM (USA) have recently "technically" merged in
the states, which has changed the login process for US subscribers. It
sounds like Canadian accounts (prior to the technical merger in the
states) were able to login and authenticate for online streaming from
the US URL. This no longer seems to be the case?

While Sirus and XM Canada have legally merged they have not
"technically" merged yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Bringing up the context menu works exactly as it did before. Tapping
on "Album" brings up all the tracks and tapping the first track begins
playback. So getting rid of the M3U file didn't change a thing.

Over on the Ripping/Tagging forum I asked if anybody knew if these
album playlist m3u files were used for anything. A couple folks,
JJZolx and Mnyb, feel that they are not used and can be deleted.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] (UK) Freeview radio channels

2011-02-12 Thread bpa

You get ahead of me each time I start to write a long reply.
My conf file does notdo http streaming it is just a stream of audio
data in PCM format. WAV implies a header which has audio stream
details such as channels, sample rate, sample size etc and the conf
settings (i.e. mux=RAW) means there is no header so Flac etc. have to
be told samplerate, channels, sample size etc. acodec=s16l just define
to use PCM 16 bits per sample - it is not WAV.

You need to open a logger window to also get entries in the log file.
AFAICT logger preferences just tells VLC what to do if a logger window
is open. I would need to test to be sure but I think if you change the
conf file to have "-I dummy --extraintf logger" you will get a logger
window and log entries and no GUI. If SBS is being run as a service or
in the background this may fail.

If the 1.5 time limit is associated with the stream from VLC and not
the dvb interface then I should be able to test to see if it fails on
my system.

clarify things, just don't expect a reply to every post.

I'll boot up Windows later this eve and see I can get a failure using

Thanks bpa, you're right I tend to use posts as a log. It helps me keep
track of what I'm doing and, I hope, keeps you and anyone else watching

I still haven't got any logging going on when I run vlc from the

Yes. The problem is the Rhapsody implementation for playlists is a big
mess on MySB IMHO.
I've spend ages to fix this, I don't have a solution :(
I submitted a few bugs on how Logitech could help on this but well,
none got considered so far.

Does the LastFM module of Custom Scan require other modules to be
enabled? The scan completes OK but Custom Browse says no matching
tracks and the SQL playlist only returns the originally selected
artist. It used to work before I rebuilt the computer on which

Unfortunately this forum requires you to be registered and logged in to

If have have had parsing troubles on a Squeezebox Touch with the
Squeezebox Server on a QNAP Nas.

It is hard to understand but installing the Windows CPAN Modules of
Michael Herger's site (=MHCPAN.zip) on a Linux system (in my case a

I have copied the MHCPAN directory into SqueezeboxServer/Plugins, that
did the trick for me.

After a long time I could use these highly appreciated plugins on my my

Question: Are you interested in IR-over-IP?

- Yes, I'd like to have IRoIP.
- No, I don't care.

Thanks for making an awesome app!

One feature that would make it even better, would be some way to
respond to other events than just buttons. In particular, I would want
to switch off my amp when the player goes to sleep. Not sure if that is
possible at all though...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] (UK) Freeview radio channels

2011-02-12 Thread bpa

I got my Windows up again to retest VLCplay. I noticed I was using vlc
0.9.6 so I upgraded to VLC 1.1.7 and the VLCplay plugin broke. It
looks like some of the transcoding option which I have been using no
longer work with vlc 1.1. which might explain some of the problem you
are having.

I'll see if I can figure the new options to get it to go.

Had my HD7 WP7 phone now for two days and would very much like a
Sqeezebox streamer for it. Not sure how it would work, but I would love
to give it a try. Please let me know when it's ready for Prime Time and
I will be one of your first customers.
