Thanks Pippin for your answers.

It seems that the first thing I have to do is read the manual and learn
some basic things ;)

pippin;613579 Wrote:

Did you get a screen asking you what to connect to when you did tap it?
 Did that not work?

When I tap squeezebox touch (under unconnected players) iPeng asks me
to choose music source. I chose Vortexbox. Squeezbox Touch remains
under unconnected players.

pippin;613579 Wrote:

Agree. And that's waht I am going to do.

pippin;613579 Wrote:

_is_ connected to the server. Is there a working progress bar that goes
beyond, say, 1 minute on the Touch itself?

Yes, the progress bar shows that track is playing.

pippin;613579 Wrote:

Vortexbox player is not a music source but a software player on your

I don't really understand what you mean by And then back to Squeezebox
Touc, and just then I hear the music.. What are you doing and what
 happens?

Sorry to confuse you ;) I used music source by mistake here. I really
meant player. What I trying to say was that when I didn't hear a sound
even when I saw that Touch is playing the track I switched (with iPeng)
the player to vortexbox player and back again to squeezebox touch. And
then I finally hear the song which is playing.

It seems to me now that if I have any problems with my setup it has
nothing to do with iPeng.

Thanks!

The really confusing part is the one with the NowPlaying screen on the
touch showing the correct track but no sound playing. Do you use any
plugins to switch your amplifier or something?
I would have an explanation if the progress bar only ran for 30s or so
but permanently?

Is your touch synced to another player, e.g. iPeng?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] An IR Blaster mystery

2011-02-25 Thread epoch1970

I am faced with a strange issue and perhaps someone has an idea of
what's happening.

I just replaced my Boom in the bedroom with a shiny white SB Classic +
IR-controlled amp (white Scandyna 'The Ball 2.1' + micropod speakers,
looks and sounds good.)

The sleeping beauty has trouble waking-up, but *only* in the morning… I
have seen more than once the SB wake up to an alarm and the amp stay
off. Then power the SB off and the amp goes up. If I shut down the amp
with its own remote, both SB and amp are in sync again and I can power
the SB on and off a dozen times and it works every time.

There is an AppleTV in the bedroom and since the amp sadly has a single
input I've been adding a crappy remote-controlled AV switch ahead of the
amp. The switch always activates the right channel, so I have a tendency
to believe the SB and IR blaster are working ok.

I am quite a bit puzzled...

No. iPeng as well as the touch only get real feedback about the actual
progress from the server every so-and-so seconds, in between they just
assume it's progressing normally so just the fact that they show a
progress bar doesn't mean the player is actually progressing.
Even the Touch itself doesn't create that state internally but through
the server.

No (well, at least not purposly)
You can see that in iPeng: if two players are grouped below a common,
dark blue bar with the current track, they are synced. If they are not
synced, each has it's own bar.

that:

1) JR MC POSTS a valid UPnP SOAP Search request to Whitebear,
2) Whitebear translates the request and forwards it as a CLI query
tracks 0 50 tags: to Squeeze Center,
3) And (although you hardly see it), there is one empty line after the

empty line response
4) Whitebear translates the CLI error back to an HTTP 500 Internal

So clearly the error is not with JR MC. It is either due to Whitebear
(making a wrong CLI request) or due to Squeeze Center (giving a wrong

After suspend the server does an immediate resume.

I'm searching in log files to find the what starts the resume but but
can't find the reason.
There are to many places in Linux where you can search for logfiles

from the pm-suspend log:

All my squeezeboxes (Duet / Boom / Radio) are wireless via an separate
wireless switch.
I've disconnected the switch so that none of the squeezeboxes could
perform an WOL

Can someone point me to an log where I can find the devil that holds
the server awake?
What is 1298656500 in the spc-wakeup-sh?

Thanks in advance

By the way, SvrPowerControl is one of my most valuable plugins.
Thanks for this one mr Harris

bpa, the deadlock fix, moving flushSamples() out of the synch block. I
think there is the situation here that rather than deadlock, toState ==
FLUSH, line is re-started in flushsamples() so the next time play() is
called (when advancing a track) it will return (without changing
toState) as the code checks to see if line.isRunning(). As toState is
still FLUSH, the run() method will forever loop on the wait() toState
!= PLAY.

But a 5 second delay on the CLI seems MASSIVE... = Is your Squeeze

you doing some other things with Squeeze Center (transcoding music to
many other players etc.) at the same time?

Thanks for the reply. The Win XP PC running SBS has these

The PC is only running SBS (and now Whitebear as well) and doing backup
tasks mainly at night.

I think SBS was streaming (flac or mp3, no transcoding) in sync to 3
devices at the time of the log file - no SBS scanning was running at

have gotten the error message in MC even when SBS and the backup

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Beginnings of a Windows Phone 7 app - quick question

2011-02-25 Thread pugwonk

Looks great - have downloaded it and will give it a try. The true
playing part is going to be tricky - however, you could just start
streaming /stream.mp3 as a first try. It will work okay but track
switching will take a long time (could be minutes). It's not too hard
to figure out how to do that but I have the code handy, so:

MediaElement me1;
me1 = new MediaElement();
me1.BufferingTime = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 3);
me1.Source = new Uri(App.ViewModel.server + /stream.mp3);
me1.MediaEnded+=new RoutedEventHandler(me1_MediaEnded);
me1.CurrentStateChanged += new
RoutedEventHandler(me1_CurrentStateChanged);
LayoutRoot.Children.Add(me1);
me1.Play();

You also need to set:

PhoneApplicationService.Current.ApplicationIdleDetectionMode =
IdleDetectionMode.Disabled;

... somewhere, so the app runs in the background when the screen is
locked.

You could be right. It is 2 yrs since I did the testing and I cannot
remember details. I did a lot of testing of various scenarios on
single and multi core system both Windows and Linux and ffwd a track
is an obvious scenario that I think I ought to have tested it but I
cannot be sure.

However without redoing all the testing I cannot give a definitive
answer. I do remember getting a number of deadlock in the run
procedure (it was easy to make it deadlock and then located with Java
console) and spent some time on the routine. I have an vague idea that
one of the deadlock causes might be flush related possibly that it
doesn't return until the flush has completed but I'm not certain.
Trying to get around the deadlocks made me feel a rewrite was desirable
but I wasn't sure of the causes and felt a rewrite could bring more
problems.

I didn't actually test it either. Just looking at the code. I thought

Understood. Hopefully I'll get some more time this weekend to go back
over my re-write code and get it to a point where it is releasable. ;)
I felt that there were too many potential issues with the original code
to waste time with doing anything other than a re-write.

I can also configure the plugin settings and can see spotify under
Internet Radio. I can also select radio within spotify and that doesn't
give an error. It seems as if it's playing (can see the seconds ticking
 away) but there's no sound.

Can it be that the plugin is not compatible with the DS209? (I'm
 running 1.3.1d by the way)

 Any help will be appreciated.

edit- I have a squeezebox receiver

I don't believe anyone else has tried a DS209 before. I suspect the
helper app is failing to run for some reason. The best way to check
this is to obtain shell access to the device and see if spotifyd is
running. If not to change directory to its location and then to try to
run it ./spotifyd - what error messages do you get?

Yes it is - you will also get this message if you have entered your
spotify username/password into the plugin, but not mysqueezebox.com and
you have a Radio/Touch as the plugin tries to playback using the
official logitech plugin first (which generates this message if you
have not entered your account details)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-02-25 Thread Triode

For the benefit of trautigan and others, I feel I should clarify the
support status of this plugin:

1) This plugin is not supported, endorsed or certified by Spotify or
Logitech. If you want an officially supported plugin for playback of
Spotify then please use the official Logitech Spotify support which is
available for Squeezebox Touch and Radio using Squeezebox server 7.5.3
and later or MySqueezebox.com

2) This plugin is a 3rd party plugin to provide additional capability
to the Logitech plugin. It is made available free of charge and is
supported through this forum thread on a best endevors basis by the
author. Users should not rely on responses to this thread within any
specific timeframe and should be aware that no commitment is made that
any response or support will be provided.

3) Users of this plugin should expect some degree of complexity in
setting up and using the plugin. If you feel this complexity is
excessive then please use the official Logitech plugin.

I would like to thank the many users of this plugin for helping it
reach the level of capability it has today and would like to encourage
the rest of the community to continue to help support and develop this
plugin through postitive participation in this thread.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-02-25 Thread BrainBugs

For those who experienced similar problems like me, this is what I did:
First I downloaded squeezebox server 7.5.2
(http://downloads.slimdevices.com/SqueezeboxServer_v7.5.2/squeezeboxserver-7.5.2.tgz)
After this I installed ssods (see http://oinkzwurgl.org/ssods for
instructions). The version I've installed on my DS209 is
ssods-4.9.1-arm.tar.gz.
Then I installed squeezebox server with the web interface of ssods.

Maybe this is of help to someone.

The 1298656500 is just the wake-up time expressed in epoch time,
i.e. the number of seconds since midnight, January 1, 1970. The
spc-wakeup.sh set wakealarm script needs the time to be expressed in
that format. It should be the same thing as, in a terminal, executing
the command:

# date +%s

As for the spurious wake-ups, let's start with something basic and
conduct a little experiment. I think the first possible cause of your
troubles that we'll want to confirm or eliminate is checking to see if
it's actual WOL packets or other network traffic that keeping the
machine from staying asleep.

So...do one of the following:

If your ubuntu machine isn't a headless server...i.e. it has a
keyboard, monitor, GUI, etc., just unplug the network cable and then
use SrvrPowerCtrl's webUI to initiate a suspend.

Alternately, if your machine is headless, then try to temporarily
disable WOL-ability by doing the following:

ssh into the server and execute the following command:

# sudo ethtool eth0 | grep Wake-on

Report back here to this thread what ethtool has to say about your
network interface.

Next, temporarily disable WOL:

# sudo ethtool -s eth0 wol d

Verify that the change took:

# sudo ethtool eth0 | grep Wake-on

It should report back:

Code:

  Supports Wake-on: umbg
  Wake-on: d

Now, suspend the server using SrvrPowerCtrl...either through the webUI
or from a player menu or from iPeng or SqueezePad or what-have-you.

If under either of those scenarios the machine now says asleep, then
we've confirmed that the spurious wake-ups are probably being caused by
some kind of network traffic.

If you followed scenario 2 above, re-enable WOL-ability with this
command:

# ethtool -s eth0 g

Report back here your observations and we'll take our troubleshooting
to the next level, if need be.

There is still an issue in 3.9b2, whereby the AudioMixer thread calls
playSamples(). It's blocked writing to the line because in the
meantime, AudioMixer.flush() has been called and stopped the line. So
the Proto thread that called flush is stuck forever on the wait() while
(inState != PAUSE). Can of worms..

It looks like you have configured the year menu to be replaced with
Composers in SBS Settings/Plugins/Custom Browse/Squeezebox Server
Menus. This is probably the reason you don't see it in the web
interface.

So, is this configuration intentional ? If it isn't, just change it
back to Do not replace.
If it is intentional, there might be some bug in the replacement logic.
