[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC: Access to 'In Our Time' 'Desert Island Discs' Archives?
The BBC has opended up a world of wonderful archives: 'In Our Time' (all of them going back to 2002) and 'Desert Island Discs' back to 1980s (so far). I know they are not listed in the usual BBC Listen Again format, but is there any chance of being able to get access to them via AlienBBC? Hey everyone, sorry for getting back so late, but I was away for a week. @seren: so you're successfully running the Spotify plugin on SSODS? I uninstalled SSODS almost a year ago since the official package seemed a less hassle to install and maintain / update. I don't have problems running 7.5.3 at all, it seems even faster and more responsive than previous versions. Just can't get Triode's plugin to work (which is a shame, really). The helper app's port is listed as 9005 - but that's what it is supposed to show, innit? The temporary solution with my MBP running the server has proven to be unusable, since switching to my NAS (or back) initiates a firmware update which takes aaages. @Leonard1052: So you have it running and the only difference is that you've installed a (not running) SSODS ?? :D damn... [SlimDevices: Plugins] Random Songs on Multi Library
Help!?!? Can anybody help me get Random Songs on Squeezebox using Erland's Multi Library extensions?!? I have the multi Library extensions set up - all good, I have sub menus (using the Custom Browse plugin) for Albums, Artists, and Even Decades, but I cannot figure out just how to get Random Songs for each library, regardless of album, decade - just random songs out of the entire library based sub-catalogue. I have created (under Custom Browse, Manage Menus) 3 dynamic playlists for each of the three librarys - that looks ok. All 3 random music are enabled under Custom Browse enable menus. But, I cannot figure out how to get the menu options to appear under each library?!? Under the main player web control, under Multi Library Configuration, there are no Include Internal Menus tick boxes, any random song menus? AlienBBC is dead. From the web pages there is no obvious URL (e.g. no RSS URL) for a plugin to read the archive besides screen-scraping which is not a good way as BBC update the web page regularly which usually break a screen scraping approach. However BBC have organised their programs in a general way and I have guessed the following URL which seems to return a list of all available episodes and these might be suitable for processing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qnmr/episodes/player.xml http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qykl/episodes/player.xml The returned XML are very big which might kill SBS on a NAS trying to process them. Thanks for the ideas, especially the coverflow/artist part. Regarding large collections, i consider my self to have quite a large one(~1400 albums), and application starts in roughly 4 seconds with all data loaded(first startup is a lot longer though ). If you already have the menus working in Custom Browse and just want to
move them in under each library, you can do as follows:
1. For each menu set its Menu group parameter to the library name
under Manage menus in Custom Browse settings.
2. You might also need to check the Show in browse and home menu
checkbox for these menus under Custom Browse settings section Enabled
menus.
You might have to restart Squeezebox Server for all changes to take
effect.
