Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-08-14 Thread ltb76

Hi,

I really use your Spotify plug-in alot, it is now my primary source to
test / discover new music.
If possible, a nice enhancement to your plug-in could be to find
additional albums to artist you already have in your private
collection.

What I would like is, when I look at Lenny Kravitz under Artists (my
own collection, not spotify), the plug-in automatically do a "Lennny
Kravitz" search in Spotifys catalog, and lists the missing albums
together with my own Lenny Kravitz albums.

E.G.:
In my own collection I have the following Lenny Kravitz albums:
5
Are You Gonna Go My Way

Spotify has:
Let Love Rule
It is time for a Love revolution
Baptism
Lenny
Greatest Hits

So when browsing Artist --> Lenny Kravitz I see all the available
albums.

Cheers,

What is eliminating the duplicate artist name? I assume Whitebear is doing
this - i.e. you fetch artist names from SBS using a CLI command, and then
removing duplicates from the results:

If you are using a CLI command such as:
artists 0 1

>It is a mystery to me why the Squeezebox Server CLI makes a duplicate
>of Various Artists.
>
The CLI documentation states:
All Squeezebox Server preferences apply to the CLI data. For examples,
the preference about composers appearing in the artists list applies to the
data returned by the "artists" query.

You will get "Various Artists" appearing twice, as the CLI command returns what
any player UI will see; normal artists and optionally other types of
contributors, such as conductors, composers and band/orchestras. When browsing
in any SBS user interface, "Various Artists" is put at the top of the artist
list, plus it appears in it's normal position (sorted under artists beginning
with "V"), so you get the same result in the CLI response.

If you issue a CLI command to search for Various Artists, it only appears once
in the results:
artists 0 1 search:Various%20Artists

I think searching for artists matching empty string, will return all artists,
but without the initial "Various Artists" entry. i.e.
artists 0 1 search:

>=> This is clearly a bug in Squeezebox Server.
I'm not sure it's clearly a bug. I think it's doing what it is supposed to do,
according to an interpretation of the CLI documentation.

That's not to say that I think it's particularly intelligent - putting "Various
Artists" at the top of the list is really a UI presentation thing; and as
suggested elsewhere, putting the list of compilation albums within the list of
artists isn't nice UI design. I think there should be a Browse Compilations
view for this, which would simplify a lot of UI's that need to do this
interpretation.

Various Artists strikes again!

i can tell you there are ALL KINDS of stupid issues with SBS comp
handling, and display.

check out bug 9523 for starters, and vote for it. also bug 15604 as in
my sig. also 17081.

SBS does weird shit in handling VA stuff. it creates a special
category which conflicts with the tag string and it does unnecessary
comp status checks for display.

i would bet all that is related to what you are talking about above.

> I had some offline discussions with Ap15e and with his kind help we
discovered that the problem is because when Whitbear issues a query to
Squeezebox Server CLI with "artists 0 300" the latter returns the entry
"id%3A3123 artist%3AVarious%20Artists" two times in its response.

In the case of Ap15e he has 262 artist entries in his artist database
so Whitebear thinks it must pass on 262 items to the Android UPnP
control point. But since Various Artists is a duplicate, the second
copy gets eliminated, and so there are finally only 261 items in the
list. This explains why Ap15e sees the error when Whitebear trips over
the no longer existent index 261 entry...

It is a mystery to me why the Squeezebox Server CLI makes a duplicate
of Various Artists. Perhaps it is because Ap15e has an actual artist
called Various Artists, and he also has compilation albums that
Squeezebox Server names as by Various Artists, and therefore perhaps
Squeezebox Server is not clever enough to know that these two are in
fact the same name ???

=> This is clearly a bug in Squeezebox Server.

However, now that I know about it, I can modify Whitebear to work
around this problem.

I am guessing the problem with the "years" folder is due to a similar
duplication. (Perhaps this time between the explicit year "0" and the
implicit "no year" = 0 ...)

Moose 0.76 'should' work fine with WAL databases.. (at least I did a
quick test last night and it seemed ok)

Note that on 7.6.1 the database is now called library.db, not
squeezebox.db. If you've got an old squeezebox.db sitting next to a
new library.db that could cause issues..

The one thing that does seem to cause problems is the auto-writing of
the sqlite dll to the thumbs folder. I'll look into this and hopefully
have a fix shortly. This sqlite dll also needs the VS2010 runtimes
installing, as detailed on the moose homepage.

But, yes, Moose'll be fine with WAL.. In fact scanning should be much
more reliable with WAL than without.

I see where I went wrong in explaining myself!

So, what I want to have happen is this:

1. During the day, lets call that between 9am when EOD monitor kicks
in, I'd like SPC to monitor the connected players, and if nothing has
been played for 20 minutes, then suspend the server.
2. From 8pm, I'd like SPC to monitor the players, and if nothing has
been played for 20 minutes, send the players to MySB and suspend the
server (the EOD action). This action should last until 5am, when the
server wakes up in time for the morning alarm.

What I have so far is the EOD part working (2) but not (1). From what
you say, (2) shouldn't be working at all, as I don't have monitoring
enabled. I think what you outline above ("No System Idle Monitoring ==
No EOD") makes good sense.

Thanks for your help, and the GREAT work on this plugin - it is utterly
indispensable for me.

Chris.

Actually, with the settings you've chosen, it shouldn't work at all.
What do you want to have happen between 5:00 and 20:00? It sounds like
you want the server to NOT suspend under any circumstances during that
time. If so, then use these settings:

System Idle Monitor:

Monitor the system for idle conditions? [checked]
Monitor Idle Squeezebox Players? [checked]
Idle network IO threshold: [0]
Idle disk IO threshold: [0]
CPU load threshold: [0]
Custom Idle check command: [blank]
Allowed system idle time: [240] minutes
Action to take after idle time: [Do nothing, i.e. stay awake!]

End of day:

Perform end-of-day action? [checked]
Allowed system idle time: [45] minutes
End-of-day start & end times (HH:MM): [20:00] [05:00]
Action to take after idle time: [Suspend Server]

Think of the End of Day period as a "special case" of the normal System
Idle Monitor...a "special case" where you can vary the allowed idle time
and the action for that EOD period. But if you have "normal" System
Idle Monitoring defeated (as you did) then it's not going to work
during the EOD period either. The fact that you were seeing -some
action- during the EOD period is a bug / feature of SrvrPowerCtrl that
wasn't intended to be used the way you were trying to use it. It
understandably caused you some confusion, I know. I'm still trying to
decide if the edge-case that no System idle Monitoring + EOD covers is
worth keeping. The alternative is No System Idle Monitoring == No EOD
too. Keeping the former allows for a sort of poor-man's daily cron job
to be fired off even when not doing system idle monitoring.

I have turned off all automatic Custom Scans, and now run them manually
when I need to. I had to do this because I quite often add tracks and
play them straight away (via Music Folders) to make sure they are OK.
SBS does a short scan which runs OK, but then if Custom Scan is
configured to kick in after an SBS scan it stops SBS from responding or
being able to play music.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-08-14 Thread wurz

I just added a ticket for this. It would be great if iPeng supported
half-star ratings. I use a rating scale of 1-10 with trackstat.

I'm using iPengHD for iPad (and iphone occasionally).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-08-14 Thread aswinp

Hi Guys, I just upgraded to ipeng 1.3.5 and my Squeezebox server is
7.6.0 - r32854.

I can't quite remember how it was in the old ipeng but now I cannot
browse music by music folder (ipeng on iphone).

The menu items are now:
Search
New Music
Random Mix
Playlists
Radios
My apps
App Gallery
Favorites
Extras
Settings
Help

---

I went through every item I can't find the "music folder".

I clicked on EDIT on the top left of the screen and still nothing (you
can't do anything there).

My music tags are not proper, the way I arrange my music is by folder
on my hard drive. HELP, how do I regain ability to browse and play by
music folder!!!

You definately need to get it so the username/password works. Are you
using the latest 1.4.6 version of the plugin? If so try changing the
password to something different and back again - do this help?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-08-14 Thread vagskal

Nothing strange in the tags as I can see. I use multiple genres
separated by ; and the only Avant-Garde tagged files that also have
something with B in the genre tag are tagged with Bonus Track.

Avant-Garde is correctly sorted under A in the Logitech app (i.e. when
selecting B in the A-Z navigation bar Avant-Garde is not shown) and in
SqueezePad. And the SBC says A when going to Avant-Garde.

Well, Avant-Garde is supposed to be a bit special, isn't it.

Not for me Avant-Garde is on "A" ?

Can it be a rouge genre sort tag if they exists ?

Have peek at the tags in all files in this genre ?

Sorry no - there won't be enough memory for this on Touch as this will
require the plugin + squeezebox server + the touch playback software
all running on inside touch.

For some reason the genre Avant-Garde (the alphabetically first genre)
is sorted under B in the SBS genre menu in iPeng. Just wanted to let
you know of this tiny issue.
