Just to be sure, did you went for the restore operation to finish ?
It runs in the background if you trigger it from the TrackStat settings
page and you can only see if it's finished by logging in the server log
for a message saying: "Restore completed at ". If you
triggered the restore from Custom Scan, you should be able to see if
it's finished based on the status in the Custom Scan settings page where
all scan/export/import modules are shown.

What I meant was just if the correct ratings were shown in the "Song
Info" page or not.
The reason the Song Info page is of interest is because that information
is not cached by TrackStat, the TrackStat plugin caches some data for
its own browse menus under TrackStat menu but not for the information it
provides in the standard "Song Info" page.

Do you see rating stars in the Song Info page (these comes from
TrackStat) or do you only see a number (which comes from standard
SBS/LMS tables).

If you haven't done so already, look at a section of the log for the
TrackStat restore operation and look for a specific track and check if
the rating of that tracks is shown with correct number of stars in the
"Song Info" page.

The "Song Info" page is reached by browsing to a track using the
standard browse menus under "My Music".

It could be that the issue is cased of these duplicated musicbrainz
identities, but I want to be sure before we assume that.

I'm sorry to say that but if this is an old 1st generation device on
which you can't install iOS 4.2 the answer is probably "yes".

Sorry, but I've been announcing for months that we would discontinue iOS
3 support (since October last year) and that people should get backups
of the App, it's been on the we site for months and it's been in the
release notes for four or five updates. We even delayed a number of
updates to keep iOS 3 compatible versions in the store for longer.

iPeng has had support for iOS 3 much longer than most other Apps (you
will have a hard time to still find new Apps supporting it), at some
point of time we had to move on and unfortunately the App Store has no
provisions whatsoever to support more than a single version of an App.

Which generation of device do you use?

The log messages comes from the plugin, so it has to be somewhere, goto
SBS Settings/Information and check where the "Plugin folder" parameter
points to and uninstall the plugin, shutdown SBS/LMS and then take a
look in that directory with a file manager and make sure there isn't any
"SocialMusicDirectory" still there, if there is, remove it with the file
manager.

iPeng doesn't show up as a source but as a player.
There's also a switch under "Settings->iPeng Settings" where you can
enable/disable playback after you've done the purchase. It's enabled by
default but you might want to doublecheck for it.

You are accessing a local server, not a remote one, right?

There are three different cases where this could happen (which I'm aware
of):
1. When track have incorrectly been tags with same musicbrainz id even
if they should be different, these cases I strongly recommend to fix the
tagging for.
2. When you are using cue sheets and are affected by this bug:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17894 (this has nothing to
do with musicbrainz id's but it's causing similar issues)
3. When you have correct the tracks with musicbrainz id correctly but
are affected by the change Musicbrainz did in May 2010 when they changed
the behavior so compilation tracks started to get the same identity as
the same song on the main normal album. They changed principles which
caused the musicbrainz identifiers to not be unique anymore, they now
represent a recording and not a track and a recording can exist on
multiple CD's.

All these causes problems for TrackStat which is built based on the old
musicbrainz principle where each track got a unique identity.

It's point 3 which is caused by a "bug" in TrackStat. The reason I
haven't fixed this yet is that I haven't figured out a good solution,
the easy solution would be to just make it possible to disable the
musicbrainz handling completely, but this would result in that you no
longer can rename/move tracks and keep the TrackStat statistics. Still I
think this is the solution I'm going to select at least on short term
because I've started to realize that this cause issues for more and more
people.

If you have a lot of duplicate, a trick to get rid of them is to:
1. Make sure you have taken a backup of the database files in the cache
directory (after shutting down SBS/LMS), so you can get back if it
doesn't work.
2. Perform a TrackStat backup (and make sure the backup file contain
proper data, look at it with a text editor or similar)
3. Use the "Remove all data" button in TrackStat setting page backup
section
4. Restore the backup from point 2.

In point 4 TrackStat is going to use the musicbrainz identifiers and
based on this it will ensure that no duplicates is generated.
Of course, this doesn't solve the problem, because you will still get
duplicates the next time you perform a rescan, I'm just saying that it's
a way to get rid of some of them if it's starting to get very bad.

If you do this operation, make sure to keep the backup from point 1 so
you have a way back if something goes wrong.

I'll try to get some time during the next weeks or so and implement the
simple solution where it's possible to disable the musicbrainz related
logic through a settings page.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat adding duplicate tracks on every rescan

2012-04-26 Thread haschmich

I'm experiencing duplicate "track" records in TrackStat for songs which
have identical musicbrainzids. Symptoms are that I can't browse certain
albums with trackstat any longer, giving me an error like in the
attached server log. The number of duplicate TrackStat entries increases
with every re-scan. I've been checking this by exporting the trackstat
statistics, editing out the "history" records, and then running a
"unique" test on a unix command line.

This is the result from yesterday:

Code:

$ grep musicbrainzId
/media/stubenas/usb1/trackstat/trackstat_scheduled_backup_20120425-manual-nohist.xml

Looking at the cases of duplicate musicbrainzids in my library, they
appear to occur from either of two causes:

1) It seems that somewhere in the migration process, duplicate
musicbrainzids have been slapped on to every song of an album where some
songs where tagged with ids and some weren't. In these cases, all the
songs without ids had been mysteriously tagged with the id of the last
song in order having an id. E.g. in the case of the 2381 duplicates, it
was an album where 20 bonus tracks had been tagged with the id of the
last proper album track.

2) The same songs sometimes appear on a "normal" album as well as on one
or many compilation albums. At least in some cases it seems these tracks
are also tagged with the same musicbrainzid. Not sure if this is how it
is supposed to be, but it makes some sense to me as long as it is the
exact same version of the song.

Now, I can fix the cases under 1) by deleting the duplicate ids from the
tags (leaving the tracks with no id), or by re-tagging them with correct
unique ids. This is what I've done, and these cases are represented by
the numbers that didn't go up between the two scans above. Unfortunately
though, I can see no easy way to get rid of the duplicate entries
already in the TrackStat database.

However there's not much I can do for the cases under 2), and the
duplicates TrackStat entries keep increasing with every re-scan.

This behaviour seems to have been introduced with my updating from 7.5.1
to 7.7.1 a few weeks ago, which correlates to about 75 re-scans since
then.

By the way it also appears that the total number of duplicates above
(4301) roughly correlates with the negative number from the Database
Query "Missing entries in TrackStat" (-4279).

Any ideas about how to solve these problems? Many thanks in advance.

On which device is it that the playback doesn't work.
It can well be that you don't have the "Settings->Enable Playback" menu
but this means that playback is already activated!
I did not understand the comment with the passcode

In this case: could you send me a diagnostics mail from the device where
it doesn't work? Just tap the mail link under "Help".

If the "Restore Previous Purchase" button doesn't work, please go to the
(iPhone/iPod) settings and try to log out of the App Store and log back
in.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2012-04-26 Thread paqi

Hi Pippin,

PLease see my comments below:

There are four gotchas about re-enabling iPeng playback:
* Use the same iTunes account as for the original purchase :It is the
same account. no changes there.
* Use "Settings->Enable Playback" and here the "Restore previous
purchase" button at the bottom of the page (the green one): I am not
able to find the "settings - enable playback" on my Iphone. I can see it
on my touch but when I hit the button I enter my passcode and then
nothing happens.
* It needs to be the same App, so you can only restore playback for the
iPad version in the iPad version and for the iPhone on in the iPhone
one. The iPhone and iPod touch App are the same thing. This is only
related to the Iphone/Touch app and not on the Ipad.
* You need to be connected to your Logitech Media Server/Squeezebox
Server for playback to work, it doesn't work when you are connected to
MySqueezebox.com: I dont use Mysqueezebox.com.

Jeppe
