Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Local Player plugin and Squeezelite for Linux/Windows/OSX

2013-01-31 Thread sto

Hi All

Firstly thanks Triode for the sterling work, certainly looks like you
done some quality work on this plugin and app.

I have a little issue, I've added "Local Player" via the 3rd Party
Plugin List. But it doesn’t seem to have installed Squeezelite, from
what I can gather this should happen. On the Local Player settings page
next to the first tick box it something like “Missing
squeezelite-x86-64”. I’m at work so this message may not be 100%
accurate but you get the idea.

I’ve download squeezelite-x86-64 it runs fine on the command line. Where
does Local player expect to find the bin ?

I’ve also tried turning on the logging for the Local Player but it
doesn’t seem to send anything to LMS info log, is that where Local
Player sends it’s logs ?

Thanks

[SlimDevices: Plugins] [CustomScan] No iTunes Statistics import on automatic scans

2013-01-31 Thread rlem

Hi Erland,

First of all I want to say I'm a very happy Lifetime Licensed User of
your plugins, great work!

One thing has been bugging me though: I cannot get new or changed iTunes
Ratings to show up after my nightly "Look for new and changed media
files" scan.
To be sure, I also tried a "Clear Library and Rescan Everything", but
that still didn't work.
They DO show up if I manually press Scan in the Custom Scan Settings, so
all the parameters must be right.

Have you got any idea? They should be showing up after a such a scan,
don't they?

===

Then a second (minor) question: I thought that all the plugins were
automatically updated, but I seem to run CustomScan version 2.9.3834,
while 2.9.3841 is the newest.
Is there something wrong, or do I have to manually update them? And if
so, what would be the most convenient method?

Thanks in advance!
Randy

The enclosed album (Jesus Christ SuperStar) is listed in Muso with a
blank "Album Artist" field. Allthough if I examine the files using
MP3Tag or any aother tag editor, every song in the album is marked with
"Various Artists" in the "Album Artist" tag ? So why is it blank in
Muso?
I know that Tim Rice isn't the Artist but the composer. The actual
artist vary, that's why I put "Various Artists" in the "Album Artist"
field. Had I known the name of each artist, I would have entered that
for each song. (I know where to find this, just haven't gotten around to
it yet). So, I put Tim Rice in there instead, as that's fine with me.
Having it sorted under "Various Arists", is what I want.

Do you have the Compilation flag set? As discussed before, the correct
way to tag an album as "Various Artists" is to set the compilation flag
to 1 (and to leave the ALBUMARTIST" field blank).

You are importing from where? Song files or LMS? If from song files you
might need to tick the option to "Check updated metadata on Import"
(Options/Music Sources/Music Folders) - did you change the album artist
tag since first importing into Muso? If so ticking this flag should cure
it.

Morbeas: Compilation flag isn't so critical for Muso, it's only an aid
for collating a compilation album when the songs aren't grouped nicely
into a folder.

I think you need to find out why spotifyd doesn't run - suggest loggin
into onto the box and killing all spotifyd/spotifydnoflac processes adn
then trying to run manually from the location above - what error
messages do you get.

I suspect you have an old version of glibc and hence only spotifydnoflac
works. I don't undestand why this gives no helper app running, but
would want you to restart the entire NAS as sometimes the install
process can leave two processes running. After you do this - do you see
the helper app running when you ssh into it?

There's a separate log which is linked from the settings page. Can you
confirm the precise message. Would also be good to enable
plugin.localplayer logging and set the flag for it to persit then
restart the server. What does this put in the main server log?

Log into the device using ssh - if this does not make sense to you then
try looking in the helper app log - do you see anything? If not try
changing the helper app port to another number somewhere around 9005
save and then restart the hold NAS.

[Its really hard to support the vast variety of linux machines such as
this - there's so many variations that people do need to be able to do
some level of debugging themselves, or realise that it may not work by
default]

Hi

I have installed the soptify plugin into the system (Ubuntu 10.4) and

the classics get track info, they all look like they are playing, but
unfortunately I get no sound.

I don't suppose anyone could help if they have a moment?

Try restarting the whole nas you should probably only see one entry for

The multiple instances is because it's an Intel NAS apparently. No need

Well it is possibly the reason the server thinks it is not running -
have you tried completely restarting it. I'm not sure other than the
"not running" message what's wrong?

2013-01-31 Thread Morbeas

Just completely rebooted the NAS. Opened LMS webgui, clicked on
Spotify, clicked on Top 100 tracks and clicked on a random song. It
looks like it starts to play (seconds start counting up) then stops. No
sound ever comes out. I tried this with several other tracks and the
result was the same each time. Here's the logs:

SrvrPowerCtrl, in it's current beta incarnation, and for Linux, OSX &
Windows, expands the definition of "busy" to (optionally) include:

- Last "busy" period > now - timeout value
- SBS/LMS library scanning
- Player Playing
- Player firmware updating
- Server network I/O above threshold (linux, OSX, windows)
- Server CPU activity above threshold (linux, OSX)
- Server disc I/O above threshold (linux, OSX)
- Active use login sessions (linux, OSX, windows)
- Active samba sessions (linux and OSX versions using samba)

ReallyPreventStandby (for windows, OSX and Linux with dbus & Gnome
PowerManagement) defines "busy" as:

- Last "busy" period > now - timeout value
- SBS/LMS library scanning
- Player Playing
- Player firmware updating

Current LMS 7.8 PreventStandby is a little more sophisticated than the
old version. It now supports OSX and expands the definition of "busy"
to include:

- Last "busy" period > now - timeout value
- SBS/LMS library scanning
- Player Playing
- Player "last activity" (button press or browsing) > now - timeout
  value
- Player firmware updating

Adding PreventStandby's "last activity" feature to SrvrPowerCtrl would
be trivial and I can certainly do that.

This is the ReallyPreventStandby code that check to see if a player is
busy:

Code:

  sub _playersBusy {

my $bCheckPower = $g{prefs}->{bCheckPower};

for my $client (Slim::Player::Client::clients()) {

if ($bCheckPower && $client->power()) {
$g{log}->is_debug && $g{log}->debug("Player " .
$client->name() . " is powered " . ($client->power() ? "on" : "off") . "...");
return 1;
}

if ( $client->isUpgrading() || $client->isPlaying() ) {
$g{log}->is_debug && $g{log}->debug("Player " .
$client->name() . " is busy...");
return 1;
}
}
return 0;
  }

You an see that there is an option to always return "busy" if the player
is "powered on". You should view the settings page to make sure that
option isn't checked.

Contrast this with the current PreventStandby's "busy" check:

Code:

  sub _playersBusy {

my $checkpower = $prefs->get('checkpower');

for my $client (Slim::Player::Client::clients()) {

if ($checkpower && $client->power()) {
main::DEBUGLOG && $log->is_debug && $log->debug("Player
" . $client->name() . " is powered " . ($client->power() ? "on" : "off") .
"...");
return 1;
}

if ( $client->isUpgrading() || $client->isPlaying() ||
(Time::HiRes::time() - $client->lastActivityTime <= INTERVAL) ) {
main::DEBUGLOG && $log->is_debug && $log->debug("Player
" . $client->name() . " is busy...");
return 1;
}
}
return 0;
  }

You can see Micheal's addition of 'lastActivityTime' to the logic.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Triode - Spotify App - No Sound - Help Needed

2013-01-31 Thread nfshirley

Hi All

I wonder if someone might be able to assist me. I have installed the
Triode Spotify plugin and everything works except for the fact that
unfortunately there is no sound on any of my players at the moment. I
must have something set something incorrectly, but I am struggling to
work out what it is.

I am running Squeezebox Server 7.5.1 on Ubuntu 10.04.1.  I have 3
radios, 1 SB3 and 1 Touch.

The plugin installs ok. The helper app is running. Client logged in to
Spotify and there are no errors.

If I try and play a track from spotify, I can browse, it brings up all
the lists and it brings up the artwork and the player looks like it is
playing (ie the time moves), but there is no sound. I have tried this
on all players I have (as well as a installation of Squeezeplay) with
the same result.

I have checked the firewall on the Ubuntu machine and it is set to
inactive and I don't think the players have any port blocking facility.
I have opened the router completely, so it is not blocking anything.

If I run the Self Test, the results are:
Helper App Running: Pass
Logged in: Pass
Spotify MetaData: Pass
Streaming from Spotify: Pass
Player Unable to Connect: Fail
"Player did not connect to helper app - check your firewall allows the
helper app to receive incoming connections from players on the helper
app port defined above" (set at 9005)

I have uninstalled the plugin, rebooted the Ubuntu machine and
re-installed the plugin - but unfortunately it is the same, no sound.

I have tried disabling FLAC in the file types for spotify, but it has
made no difference.

In the server log, I get an error:
[13-01-31 21:48:48.1677] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1945) Error:
While trying to run function coderef
[Slim::Control::Commands::playlistJumpCommand]: [Can't call method
"master" on an undefined value at
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotify/ProtocolHandler.pm
line 82.]

But I am unsure if this is the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't get music it normally means there is a firewall preventing

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Windows 8 App

2013-01-31 Thread walshy002000

Hi Everyone,

Despite the EOL announcement for WB, Im just curious if anyone is
currently working on a Windows 8 app? There's nothing in the market
place and I know despite there being a couple of apps for Windows Phone,
none of those apps have come across (yet). I think with the Modern
design used by Windows 8, there's the possibility for a really beautiful
app.

Just throwing my hat in the ring for wanting an app, if others are
interested maybe give a shout so we can judge demand. I am a dev myself
and I may get around to making one at some point, but I have a crazy
habit of starting projects and never getting them to a publicly usable
state
