This turned out to be a changed API behavior rather than a bug, I've now
fixed it in the just released 3.1.3906 version of TrackStat so now we
can see ratings in our browse menus again if we use 7.6.0 or later
version of LMS.

It you have many rows for the same song but it isn't one of the song
with duplicate musicbrainz id, you can skip the "disable musicbrainz"
step and just do the backup/wipe/rescan/restore procedure (which will
remove the duplicates). However, if you also have tracks with duplicate
musicbrainz tags you should really disable musicbrainz identities or
just remove the musicbrainz tags on all duplicate songs (and just keep
it on one song).

No, you will only loose ratings if you rename or move music files.

I'll check whether something could be done on the mysb.com side of things. It's actually a bit of both, a mysb.com server side of issue as well as a (missing) plugin feature. mysb.com should not return items which cannot be played, or at least fix the track's duration when only a sample is available. Is there a chance to prevent Deezer samples completely? The problem sounds like less important, but is very annoying in the middle of a playlist. I yet have to find a way to do so. The duration information I'm getting back usually is reporting the full track's length. Therefore I can't use this. There's currently no way to recognize a sample before it has started to stream. And then it's too late. Even if I skipped the track as soon as its real length was known, you'd get a short blip of sound.
