Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Howto import last.fm playcount information to trackstat db?

 Hi erland,

do you think it's a good idea to write the data (updated play count)
directly into the playCount field in the persist.db? Of course while
 LMS is stopped.

 Kind regards

 Eric

If you want it to be kept (and you are using TrackStat) you can write it
to the playCount field in the track_statistics table in persist.db.
TrackStat will sometimes overwrite data in the playCount fields in the
standard LMS tracks table, so if you are using TrackStat it's
important to either write it to track_statistics table or write it to
both track_statistics and tracks table.

If you do it through a plugin in LMS you of course need to do it while
LMS is running but if you do it from some other program it's probably
best to do it while LMS is stopped.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2014-10-12 Thread PasTim

If you are intending to produce a new release at some point, there's a
trivial matter - I get this in the log every time LMS starts up:

Code:

  [14-10-12 08:16:00.3750] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1343) Warning:
[08:16:00.3739] defined(@array) is deprecated at
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/Util.pm
line 69.
  [14-10-12 08:16:00.3765] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1343) Warning:
[08:16:00.3755] (Maybe you should just omit the defined()?)

LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi running Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16-24 bit,
44.1-192kbps. Wired Touch + EDO, coax to Musical Fidelity M1 CLiC.
Alternatively squeezelite to a bit of home-cooked code and thence to M1
CLiC using a UPNP stream. Wireless Xubuntu 14.04 laptop controls LMS via
Chromium. Meridian Explorer USB DAC to listen via Squeezelite on
Vortexbox other PCs as required. Spare Touch in loft.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse Albums and adiditional informations

2014-10-12 Thread erland

It's supposed to display artist together with album by default.

Have you done anything special when you configured it ?

Which user interface are you using ? (LMS web interface, Touch/Radio
display, SB3 display, official Android/iOS apps, third party Android/iOS
apps)

Can you post your *.cb.values.xml (or *.cb.xml if you have customised
the XML) file matching your menu configuration ?

Tried the script and it shuts down the server however does not push the
players to the alternate server. They just become unconnected players.
If I go into iPeng and select shutdown to raspberrypi then it works.

I have check all the settings you have asked.. Would you like a log?

This indicates a problem streaming from spotify - possibly with the
network between you an spotify or with the spotify servers. Do you see
this all the time or only at certain times?

All the time I'm afraid. I have no issue with radios. Also I have tried
running the LMS off a ubuntu laptop and it shows no issues. Only on the
raspberry pi.

Is the network from the Pi to the internet wired? If not have you tried
that? Is it the same network as when you use other servers. I am not
sure what else to suggest I'm afraid.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Annouce: SB Player, a software Squeezebox player app for Android.

2014-10-12 Thread bs01890

I had purchased a fire TV for video streaming, but thought it might be
useful as a music streaming device, i.e. squeezebox client, as well. I
hoped I could use iPeng as the controller, SB player as the player, and
the fire TV as the hardware. I had contacted Wayne, the developer of SB
player, about possibly using it on the fire TV and he was kind enough to
provide a test copy. I think I'm probably the somebody that he refers
to above. The bottom line is that the program works and you can stream
output from your LMS through the fire TV through two channel output
through the optical output port into a DAC. The fire TV supports Dolby
Digital, but I don't use that, so I can't comment on surroundsound.

My impressions:

1. Downloading. The test copy downloaded automatically from the Amazon
app store and installed itself.

2. Set up. The first setup attempt was successful, but not seamless. The
Amazon controller clicks through the various setup fields, but it's hard
to tell what field you're actually using as initially they weren't
highlighted, except for the buttons. So it was a bit of trial and error.
The player did not automatically identify the server. When I manually
inputted the server IP address into the correct field, it found the
server and connected, and then I was able to save the server, and it
found the server every time after the first. After connecting, SB
player automatically showed up as a device in the iPeng controller app,
and all the normal iPeng controller features worked. Yesterday when I
set up the app, the fields were actually highlighted as I clicked
through them, but when I had to reinstall the program today again they
were not. Don't know why the fields are highlighted sometimes and
sometimes not.

A. The default bandwidth is set to auto. I think the app is designed
for an android phone, and the options are low (for 3G/4G) or high (for
wireless). I was using a wired connection. There is no option for a
wired connection. I think it defaulted to low bandwidth on auto, and
would not stream my ALAC music on low bandwidth, which is about 95% of
my collection. If I set it to high bandwidth it streamed ALAC (and
MP3) without difficulty.

B. When I initially set this up, I was streaming through the HDMI
connection to my TV set. When I plugged in the SPDIF cable I was able to
stream two channel directly to a Schiit Modi DAC and then to my two
channel system (Emotiva amp and preamp, with magnepan speakers). Sounded
really good.

3. Use:

After five minutes, the TV screen goes into the screensaver mode, which
defaults to some pretty pictures that Amazon provides. You can download
your own photos from the Amazon cloud if you want to leave the TV on.
Can you look at album art on the TV? Don't know- worth looking into.
Can you turn the TV off? Yes, but after five seconds the fire TV
defaults into standby mode and the music stops. The player still shows
up in iPeng, but is paused. If you click play at that point, it will
begin to play again even with the TV off, and doesn't shut off again.
Can you disconnect the HDMI connection? I don't know for sure, but I
don't think so. The one time I tried it the music stopped immediately. I
didn't think to check what had happened in iPeng. I'm concerned that the
fire TV requires detection of an HDMI output in order to function, but I
don't know this for sure.
Can you use the wake on LAN function in iPeng? I don't think so, as I
don't think the fire TV supports wake on LAN. I was able to get my
server to wake up and my other squeezebox player, but not the fire TV.
This means that in order to use it you have to turn on the TV set, and
the fire TV comes out of standby automatically. You then have to
manually load the player each time. There is an option in the player to
connect automatically on start up, but I think it defaults to auto
with automatic startup, which doesn't work with a wired connection if
you are trying to stream anything but MP3. I gather there are other apps
that will auto load the player, but I haven't tried them.
What codecs does it support? Don't know for sure. The fire TV supports
MP3 natively as far as I can figure out. The SB player supports multiple
codecs, and most of my music is in ALAC which works well. Didn't try
FLAC.

I was able to listen for a few hours yesterday without difficulty. I
shut the system off and came back a few hours later, and the player
wouldn't load, even though it was present in the app list. I eventually
had to uninstall and reinstall for it to work. Don't know where this
glitch came from, as it's the first (and only) time it's happened.

Bottom line: it works, but it's not completely seamless. It has to be
set up manually each time. I understand there are apps that will auto
load other apps, which might be worth a try, but it defaults to the low
bandwidth auto setup with a wired connection. From the above post, it
looks like Wayne is fixing this. If the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2014-10-12 Thread offmessage

I'm completely stumped :(

About a week ago the spotify plugin stopped working - skipping every
track on the playlist and not refreshing the lists of playlists (so a
change to a playlist in the desktop client isn't reflected in the list
shown through the plugin ui).

Trying to play a track gets the error message unable to play file for
type spotify:track:xxx. If I run the self test I get Streaming
from spotify stalled before end of track, rate LOW.

The Linux machine it's running on hasn't changed in years (I haven't
even patched it for an age). The only thing I did around the time it
stopped working was install the SqueezeCloud plugin (which didn't work).
I've since deleted SqueezeCloud, but Spotify still doesn't work. I
deleted the spotify plugin and reinstalled it, but the settings were
still all the same, so I assume I hadn't fully cleared it out (and can't
work out how to do so).

The BBC iPlayer plugin still works absolutely fine, as does streaming
radio. The local music files are FLAC and hosted on a NAS, and that
still works fine too.

If anyone can offer any help I would be so so extremely grateful. I love
the spotify plugin and have used it every day for years (it was the
reason I upgraded to spotify premium!).

To be honest, I'm a bit fuzzy on when I actually noticed the behavior.

Yep - but I did have it on auto-update so maybe it updated at a time I
was just leaving home and dropped off my home wi-fi as it was finishing
so only had mobile data available - by the time I reached work wi-fi it
had locked up? Would iPeng look for servers by default after an update
even if the app's not 'open' on the device (which might have caused it
to try and find them on mobile data network)?

The iPad Mini is wi-fi only, and my other iPad Mini doesn't have a
mobile card so neither had mobile data available.

iPeng permanently looks for servers while you use it.

So when it's closed it won't look at all? Even after a software update?

When it's closed, it's closed. It can't do anything when it's not
running. After an update you'd at least have to start it once, even if
you use preserve connection

OK Cool - that kills my theory above then... Oh, well will have to be
one of life's mysteries then... :) ;)

You mean the data volume used? That does indeed sound excessive
Flushing the cache should help for the local library, remote thumbnails
always get cleared periodically. If the cache immediately blows up again
after flushing the cache: does your server maybe not scale the artwork?

I'm pretty sure that artwork resizing on the server was the culprit. I
must have inadvertently changed the resizing settings on the server.
Did a clear and rescan on the server as well as fresh install of iPeng 8
as well and I'm at ~280MB. As an aside, is there a way to tell when
iPeng has cached all your library data?

iPeng 8 is looking great on my iPhone 5, can wait to give it a test on
my 6 when it arrives Tuesday.

Thanks again Pippin!
